squats

is this the right place for this topic?

uh lets see here
I did one personal training session with... a psychopath lol
but he made me do numerous things, one being squats
which I then learned = an amazing butt

Question for everyone
If I do (at least) 50 squats a day everyday in May
along with my diet and going to the gym
(gym consists of elliptical and treadmill for as long as i can stand to be there hour each maybe)
wouldn't I have a significantly better looking backside by May 31st?
right now I have the "white girl no butt syndrome" and I'd like that to change :)

Do a hundred a day and look that good on May 15th.

It will def help you, but you may not see a whole lot of a change in just one month of doing it.

    1. The exercise forum may have been a better spot, since you asked.
    2. A month out is not much time for noticeable body recomp. At least for me.
    3. Yes, subjective measure of beauty depending, squats will help your backside look "better."
4 That cardio isn't going to do much apart from perhaps creating a caloric deficit, which can be helpful. Some sort of stairmaster machine will likely be a bit better for what you're going for, I think.
    5. I'm going to assume you're just doing body weight squats, which is fine, but I might suggest lifting heavy for your squats at lower rep ranges.

You should not be doing squats every day. Your body needs rest. If you want real results, instead of 50 squats, do 15 with heavy weights.

You need to invest a lot of mental prep and a lot of time in the gym to be build the butt you want. This isn't going to happen in 31 days.

But I might suggest the botox injections used on Angelina Jolie's lips. They look nice, full, and perky.

I was thinking this way with just body weight squats since its new to me and to get started on the path to eventually be doing the heavy lifting squats

body weight squats first bc when I did them with the personal trainer for one day i was then basically dead for the next 4 lol
    start off slow and build

Add a barbell on your shoulders while you squat and you'll get even better results than just body weight squats.
  • The glutes are a muscle. Muscle will need added resistance. To get that round firm look you gotta build up the muscle and strip down the fat on top. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/reform13.htm nutrition, lifting, cardio, lots of good rest. Boom.

Won't see much happen in 30 days.

No need to do 50 squats DAILY. You'd be better off doing 50 squats (5 set of 10) with half your bodyweight poundage extra resistance.

And make sure they are squats and not curtseys.

Do them for a few days to get the form down, but then add some weight. Increase the weight a little each time. You don't need to waste a month on bodyweight, your body is stronger than you think and can increase in strength faster than you know you're capable of.
(see profile photo for evidence-by scaling the weight up gradually, I wound up able to throw the equivalent of my own body weight on my back and squat with that).

wow something to look forward to :)

    thanks!

Meaning she should start with 1/2 body weight? For example, a 150lb person should (hypothetically) be able to squat w/ an additional 75?

There's no sarcasm in my post, a legitimate question. I have to state this as I so very rarely am not behaving like a douche

I don't think he was being snarky. There are some amazing options for quick butt fixes and Botox is one of them. Even silicone is fantastic, check this http://www.torontosurgery.ca/Toronto-Butt-Implants.html

Seriously though look at those before and afters?

You're not going to see results from body weight squats. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to pick up a couple dumb bells or get under a barbell now. If you can climb stairs carrying a backpack or groceries, then you can pick up weights and use them in the gym.

OK, OP, while I agree with everyone that is telling you 31 days is not long enough to change your body composition... that doesn't mean don't start now. Take the advice given above. Squat, learn form, add weight, don't do 50/day, etc... If you don't start now you'll NEVER get there, so forget this magical end date you have in your head and just get to it.

Add the weight - you'll like it and see better results and add incline to your treadmill routine - hills help with glutes - Look for glute exercises online (deadlift, glute bridge...). The squat is not the end all be all.

It sounds to me like you want to make your *kitten* bigger/firmer. To do that you would actually have to increase the size of your muscle back there. Squats is the right exercise to do that but to actually put on muscle you would have to be doing squats with heavy weight and doing it for a year.

One month of bodyweight squats is not going to make your *kitten* look any different other than the weight loss you might also get with your diet.

Doing a bunch every day isn't really helpful for you either. What you want to do to actually put muscle on your butt is to eat at a surplus (extra calories), lift heavy (with a barbell) and perform the exercise with sufficient rest in between sessions (generally at least 48 hours for a beginner).

The idea that you are going to change the shape of your butt in one month is an unrealistic expectation.

I do competitive stairclimbing and what my trainer advised was using the elliptical trainer on the settings which most challenge the glutes...that's where the propulsive power comes for stairclimbing. Since you do cardio now, that might be an additional way to build the glutes.

Actually you said "will that significantly improve the appearance of my rear end by May 31st" The answer was no, and then she offered you a back up plan. She too was being helpful. Atleast you didn't call her a really disrespectful name though. A step in the right direction...
