So there was no help for it. I HAD to make my quarterly trip to the Super Walmart today because we were out of cat litter. This is the trip where I always buy stuff in bulk. Yes, I'm the person you don't want to stand behind at the checkout. That trip. Turns out even Walmart can be a source of NSV's. Here are a few:
1.) I was able to lift the 35lb cat litter pails multiple times. Even hoisting them over the sides of the cart was no problem! The cashier was impresssed. So was my husband since I usually make him do it. He was VERY happy to skip Walmart today.
2.) Because I had to put the litter pails into the cart first, my cart weighed about 100lbs, and I pushed it all over the store that way. About 2000 steps.
3.) I'd been wanting some cotton tank tops to wear on my outside walks, and I found the perfect ones in the BOYS section for $2.97!!!! And they don't show my bra straps!!! I can't believe I'm actually wearing something from the kids section even if it IS a XXL. It's from the KIDS section!! And actually the XL fit fine. I just prefer workout shirts to be a little loose. The price was so cheap that I bought one in four different colors.
4.) Found some new bath towels for our bathroom. Normal-sized bath towels instead of sheets. I can't WAIT to donate those bath sheets. They're such a pain to wash because they're so big. These will be so much nicer.
5.) Even after loading my whole cart with groceries, the only treats I bought that weren't on the list were sugar free Reese's Mini-Cups and some low sugar cranraisins. Both will be easy to fit into my calories whenever I want something sweet. I didn't even LOOK at the bakery section even though you could smell fresh baked cookies all over the store.
6.) I found a cheap hydration pack for biking and some reasonablly priced 12lb dumbbells that I might go back for. Maybe. The very IDEA of going back to Walmart so soon is ALIEN to me, but it tickles me that I might want FITNESS equipment enough to do it!!
So, there you have it. NSV's are possible to find ANYWHERE.23 -
I have done over 5000 steps for 4 days in a row (over 10'000 on three of those days), worked out every day AND turned down a cookie at work today!29

Completed a strengthening workout this morning after about 3 weeks of no exercise. Hooray for me!!!18

Starting to notice accessories are getting loose. My wedding band now fits on any finger and hangs loose on my ring finger. My watch that I could only tighten to the first hole, I'm now on the 3rd. I had to get a new belt because the old one was too big. So exciting!14

Two weeks ago,I set small goals for myself dealing with self care rather than weight loss. Things like using really nice body and face products daily. Getting up and moving for five minutes every hour during my work day (I work from home), making my bed. I put a sticker on my calendar for each goal I accomplish daily and seeing all of them is really motivating.18

So I'm back on the wagon after having a baby.
I have started doing exercise again this week. So yesterday I did and push press and front squats and I've also started couch to 5k again.
My NSV is that despite having about 6 months without exercise and with weight gain it's been so much easier than it was years ago when I started completely from scratch. I've still got a way to go to get to the fitness levels I had before having my second baby but it shows that I didn't waste all of that hard work years ago.18 -
extending the distance of my daily walks, yet noticing it doesn't take me as long to walk as it used to. can't wait to get into single digit pants sizes again.15

Tried it on and I’m keeping it. I don’t love my stomach, but I think I will be wearing it next weekend.

My NSV today is that I did not get on the scale. I ate a lot yesterday (stressful day at work) and was tempted to get on the scale and berate myself for gaining weight. But I remembered that this in an ongoing journey and the number on the scale does not equal my value.24

I ordered a McDonald's drive thru after swimming. Half of my son's order was missing so I gave him mine instead. Rather than be crossed, I was secretly happy I'd saved 250 cals for snacking later!15

My bike got stolen last weekend and I needed to go pick up a new one. The store is about 5 km away and I decided to do transportation running after work (I only had an hour before they closed), and in short shorts to boot!
I felt a tiny bit self conscious running in more of a city scape, and of course going into the store sweaty and in my running gear but overall it felt fine. And with social distancing I don’t think the cashier minded 🙂15 -
@AwesomeSquirrel Great idea to make lemonade out of lemons by running to the bike shop! A place like that they probably admired you for coming in all sweaty. Hope you love your new bike! My husband's bike got stolen a few years ago, and he was bereft.3

This afternoon I was able to help my husband flip our king-size Tempurpedic mattress.
If you've never had one, those suckers are very heavy and awkward to grab hold of. Ours has gotten uncomfortable for me because it has developed dips that put my shoulders in a weird position when I sleep on my back. Years ago when we tried to adjust this bed, my poor husband had to do it by himself with ropes. This time I could squat down, brace my arms on my knees with my forearms under the mattress and lift my side up with no problems. Only took us a few minutes.
Now I'm just hoping this will fix the problem so we don't have to buy a new mattress yet. I think it will because the bottom side felt a lot firmer. I don't think the tempurpedic is actually designed to be flipped, but it's worth a shot to see if we can salvage the mattress and avoid the expense of a new one.9 -

My trick when the scale goes up is I don’t log it. I know it’s there, but I think “it’s just water weight, no sense logging it”
Which may or may not be true. But it saves me from beating myself up over it. So it works for me.
I will have to reevaluate this when I get near maintenance, but that’s many many pounds away.9 -

I use Libra to log my weights as it gives you trends. So I do a daily weigh in and just log the number. It charts it and gives you your trends.

When I get to the point where I’m 30 to 40 pounds from goal, I will definitely look into trends. Right now I’m still in the “it’s relatively easy because there is just so much fat to lose” stage. 😇8 -

I do something similar. I log my weight daily in an Excel document, and I have a column that calculates a 7-day moving average. I consider the moving average to be my "official" weight, since it smooths out water weight fluctuations.6 -
I took ALL the stairs on my vacation, even in 4 story buildings.
THEN at one hotel, my husband and I were upgraded to the "honeymoon suite" because it was on the third floor and according to the front desk, we looked like we wouldn't mind the stairs. Score!!22 -
Being able to cross my legs a little more comfortably. My belly doesn't get in the way as much! In another 10lbs, I bet I'll be even more comfortable crossing my legs when I please. 🤣🙂19

My wedding ring is getting very loose, and I think it will have to be resized soon. It was super tight and looked like a cinched belt on a sausage in February.15

Not sure if this is an NSV since weight is not my primary focus, but a little while ago I was asked if I am a Marine or a cop - negative on both. Part of it was because of my bearing and my haircut, but I still never would've ever expected to be asked that question, especially at 48 years of age!!17

My NSV is realizing that losing 4.9 pounds this month is quite a lot. I was feeling disappointed in this last week that I slipped on my diet a bit, and didn't lose any weight. I was even feeling bad about myself after eating a big snack last night...
But then I stopped myself and said "You know, 5 pounds is a lot in just one month! If I were to lose 5 pounds every month until the end of December, that would be 30 pounds!"31 -

My NSV is that I finally had the guts to up my daily calories on MFP and drop my weight loss goal down to 0.5lbs/wk for my last seven pounds. I've been scared to let my weight loss slow for fear that the scale would Never-Go-Down-Again-EVER. That I'd be right back where I started if I let myself relax even a little. That all my progress would magically VANISH if I dropped my guard!!
Intellectually I knew that wasn't true, but it's taken several weeks for me to finally say..."It's ok to lose more slowly, OR to not lose at all. The world won't end if I decide to stop right here. As long as I keep weighing and don't go back up, there's nothing to worry about. I feel great, and I like how I look, so what's the big deal?"
Actually , I know NEED to learn to maintain and let my mind let go of weight-loss mode. But the prospect of maintaince is turning out to be just as scary and emotional as the weight loss. So I'm proud of myself that I've taken my first step on that part of the journey. I've told myself all along that this is a forever lifestyle change, not a passing obsession. Now I need to learn to walk that out. Changing my MFP goals is the official first step.32
