I recently started meditating, and was surprised by how much easier it is to sit cross-legged, and how much easier it is to get up from the floor too. I knew losing weight would help, I just didn't realize how much it would actually help! A very nice surprise.21

So, my husband drives us places most of the time. I haven't needed to go anywhere by myself in a couple of months. I got my paperwork to renew my license plate tags last week and decided to go out today and do it. I get in the car and realize my butt has shrunk enough that my rearview mirror was now pointed too far up and I couldn't see the bottom of my rear window. LOL. I had to readjust it now that my head is lower in my seat than before. Not a side effect of losing weight that the average person would think of.
Hahaha! Best NSV! Love it!3 -
I went out to see a band perform last weekend and danced for over three hours straight. Not only was I confident enough to dance enthusiastically in front of many strangers, but I was confident enough to do it in the front of the room, not worrying about taking up space or blocking the view of those behind me.
Also, my ankles didn't hurt the next day.17 -
I felt healthy enough to walk to the post office today. I got there and back at a decent pace without any significant discomfort more than I get just walking around the house. I didn't really think of that as a victory, but it was. I'm getting a little better every day.
Here's my NSV: On the way over, I walked through our local food co-op. They have a hot bar, and I figured I'd go see what kind of soups they had today. Nothing special, but they had an item on the hot bar that I often just buy because I enjoy it so much. It's not the healthiest option. I often don't have the determination to just walk away without getting some.... often more than I should. Well, today I looked at them, turned around, and walked out the door and on up to the post office. I could have stopped back by on the way home... and I did not.20 -
These things come in threes perhaps. I had another one.
This one actually does involve a scale, but not a body weight scale. I wanted a snack. I decided to have some roasted Oregon hazelnuts. They are so delicious and have protein and healthy fat.
I took the lid off the jar I'm storing them in, I put the jar on my food scale, and I got a tare weight. I took the jar and poured some into my palm. I said to myself, "That is twelve grams." I put the jar back on the scale, and guess what? It said 12g.
My eyeball is, for the moment, calibrated. I will keep using the scale to keep my eyeball calibrated. There's another discussion I should post this to, and I will....10 -
My name is Mary, 65 from Pennsylvania.
Been MIA for a few months but still logging in everyday since I started MFP 5/14/21.
Unfortunately lost my mojo and gained a lot back but not all Thank God! Need to get back on track and focused. I bought a NEW to me, gently used, Commercial PreCor EFX 835 Elliptical. It was delivered the beginning of November, as others here know I wore my previous 10+ year old one out from my extensive workouts. Stopped using it mid November to get my Christmas shopping done earlier than my norm. I was planning to start back up a week ago but had a GI bug and very weak. I restarted today but very slow at 45 minutes and 3 miles compared to my 3 hour historical workout sessions. I will MAYBE workup to it again.
So my NSV is getting myself back on track again! And before I gained back everything I lost!10 -
I went to a party in the catacombs (about 5 stories underground) and I had no trouble getting back up!10

I usually run with the dog and average a 13 minute mile (thanks to all the stops he makes along the way). Today, he refused to go so I was finally able to run by myself.
Happily surprised to discover that I can comfortably run a 10:30 mile.

after logging the calories upon grilled cheese sandwich assembly, I decided to not include one of the pieces of cheese because it was going to be to much calories.17

I ordered new workout clothes in a smaller size and was mentally bracing myself for them to not fit and the disappointment I'd feel, and they fit like a glove! I was over the moon.18

my neighbor bought me over a fitted coat to see if I could wear it, fit great! They were too big to wear it so I got it.8

Started out on a 3-4 mile walk/run with the dog, but the windchill was soooo cold and I wasn't excited about it. When the dog sat down after a block and refused to go any further, I thought I'd drop him off and go without him. Instead I said I'm not feeling this either and decided to do a workout video in the much warmer living room that I hadn't done in a while.
My NSV is that I was punching harder, jumping higher, squatting lower and felt so, so powerful compared to all the times I did it before. Even burned way more calories according to my apple watch.
When I was done my son came out of his room to tell me I was shaking the whole house! LOL17 -
I need more belt holes!18

I just tried on a bunch of tops and sweaters that were too tight in early fall. I wasn't expecting any to fit, but most do! If I hadn't tried them on, I would have missed my chance to wear them this season. I am enjoying the "new" additions to my wardrobe.11

I got some scary medical news that made losing significant weight pretty much mandatory. In the months since then, diet and exercise changes have improved all my test results quite a bit. I'll have to take fewer (maybe no) meds, and odds are I'll live longer, feeling better!
Also, I'm having the odd experience of going back to clothes I haven't worn in years, as my jeans from just a few months ago are far too big20
