Saw my sister in law today. First time in a while. She said you look well. First person to notice I've lost a bit of weight. Made my day.31

My latest NSV is actually a scale victory. I can now use a normal household scale, I no longer have to use the industrial one at the gym.50

I can relate. My last scale only went up to 300 pounds. I thought, pff I must be under 300 pounds. Nope! The dial swung all the way around so it looked like I only weighed 25 pounds lol.14 -
The movie theater I go to has the reclining chairs. The last movies I've watched i had to lean to the left so my hip doesn't make the seat go up/down every time I move. I just watched Wonder Woman (AMAZING) and i was able to sit without touching the other side of the seat! Plus this morning i put on a skirt i have not fit into in years!30

My collar bones are returning. Seeing some squishy fat on my lower torso. My summer time "goal shorts" are nearly wearable - I can put them on but they don't quite do up. I'm starting to just barely see some muscle definition on my quads. I have so much more flexibility in my hips and knees and my low back, so now movement feels free and not as uncomfortable.21

This is another related to the new workplace. This is my third Friday here. The people already here gang up and go out for lunch on Friday. I've been welcome all along but today is the first day I wanted to join them for Thai food. I like it hot. This is the first time in a long time that I've ridden in a co-workers vehicle with 5 adults. This is the first time no-one thought to give me the front shotgun seat. The female got that seat, and in the back seat of the F-150 were 3 adult men, with me in the middle. There was no hip-touching at all. I like that.41

I only just realized this and had to share.
At my heaviest, I couldn't stand to look at myself in the mirror. I purposely undressed away from the mirror and if I passed mirrors I would look away.
I don't know the last time I walked pass a mirror and looked away or undressed and felt the need to turn my back.
I'm a work in progress, but I'm happy with the progress I have made and I'm happy with the woman looking back at me in the mirror.37 -
Finally bought my first new pair of jeans (size 4!!!) last night. Put them on first thing this morning and they were a little loose. Already I'm shocked that I used to walk around in my size 10s with my belt holding them up as best as it could.17

1. Completed a brutal lower body HIIT and then strength workout today. The NSV? I pushed myself hard enough during the 15mins of HIIT I couldn't lift as heavy as usual for the strength portion. The second NSV? I was admittedly a bit discouraged about not being able to lift very heavy. When I decided to do the exercises without weights I could feel all the little accessory muscles. My form was spot on I was able to move slowly and with great strength because I'm strong enough to do so! I'm going to be SO sore tomorrow and I only used weights for 2or3 of the 10 exercises! And I could only do one of the 2 sets with weights for these. JELLO legs set in so fast but I pushed through and noticed my strength because of it.
2. I extended my cooldown & stretch and WOW am I becoming limber! I can alllllllllllllmost put my hands flat on the floor for a straight leg hamstring stretch and there are many other stretches that I'm finally making solid progress with. It feels so wonderful after a nice hard workout!13 -
My belt buckle no longer points at the floor....
I also lost the App by not upgrading my phone OS.. haven't gained a pound in 15 days.. it feels great
to be back on track....16 -
I just got home from lifting weights and realized as I was going over my notebook that on many exercises I am lifting about half my body weight.
I don't know if that is "good" or not or what is normal, but when I started out, I felt very weak and a little self-conscious (as I was still feeling / looking injured).
I'm still working on healing my legs, but I feel so different overall now -- not just my strength but how I think about me being out in the world. I'm not sure how to explain it, but for a long time I felt fragile and was always scared I'd get hurt again. But I don't think those things any more. That's pretty awesome, at least to me.

For the first time someone noticed that I'm losing weight. I've only lost 15 of the 50 pounds I'm planning to drop, but it was nice to get some outside validation.20

I hiked up most of a small mountain today. It was hot, so I turned back after I had been walking for an hour. I thought I'd made it about halfway, but walking home I looked up at the mountain and noticed the pile of tailings I had turned back at were almost to the top. I'll head out on a cool morning and report back with a new NSV.

Had many opportunities to overeat today and skipped on every one of them! It seems like something most people I'm around don't have an issue with, but for me stopping after 2 slices of pizza or having a salad over fries is a big deal!23

I put on a short above the knee dress on for the first time in almost 2 years!19

Continued our quest to run 5K - my son and I just ran for 33.5 minutes (up from 30 minutes) and covered 2 miles (3.2K). Slowly making progress.
My only gripe is that since we started this, two months ago, my beloved son has hit a growth spurt and is now taller than me. So his strides are longer and even though I'm matching him step for step, he goes faster than I do and he has to keep running back for me. Bless him, he won't go too far without me. For a 13-year old, he's so supportive. He always goes running with me and never refuses/tries to postpone it, even when it's really hot (like today) or he'd rather play his computer games41 -
@Madwife2009 you will get there and I am glad you have such a supportive running partner! You are setting the best example of healthy living for your children and they are following your lead.
My NSV for today, I owned up to the pint of ice cream I had for dinner last night (yes, that's all I wanted). Logged it and came in JUST under my calorie goal. I know it's not the healthiest thing to choose, but some days, you just want it. I made it work and I am glad for it.34 -
Just discovered a new one
My heart rate when pushing my toddler in her buggy is now lower than my pre-losing-weight-and-being-a-permanent-couch-potato resting heart rate was.
Bearing in mind that my toddler is getting to the stage where I force her to walk most of the time as she's growing like a weed (and getting heavier), even I'm impressed.25 -

These are the types of great nsv's that will keep us from ever going back to the life we used to live. Congratulations15 -
My senior photos were taken last year in a dress I loved; it was a little snug and not too flattering, but I liked it that much! I had hoped I would lose the weight to be able to wear it more often in the future...
I tried it on recently with this Summer arriving and boom. The dress is too big. I still love the dress, but I have to find one just as cute to replace it.20 -
I've been going through my wardrobe just to clear out old clothes and came across a coat I haven't worn more than once in the last 3 years or so. I LOVE the coat which is why ive held on to it but it was always to tight to comfortably wear....
I decided now was time to admit that there's no point holding onto it because "one day I might fit into it" I was just about to put it in a bag for charity when I thought I'd try it on one last time.... And it fit like a dream!! I couldn't believe it "that day" had finally arrived!40 -
Ran a mile in less than 13 minutes! Hit 12:50 today on the first mile of my 4-mile run.36

I knocked 22 minutes off my 12-mile cycle route today. My average time for this run is 80 minutes.
Conditions were not perfect, there was a fairly brisk wind and it was hot (~30 degrees centigrade/86 degrees fahrenheit). But I still knocked 22-minutes off my average time.
The major factor was my husband's 20th Wedding Anniversary present to me (our anniversary is next week). Now, he doesn't usually bother with presents for anniversaries, which is fine as we generally get what we want, whenever, as long as it's not too expensive. Did he get the traditional 20th anniversary presents? China? Platinum? Oh, no, no, no. He goes for a new set of road tyres for my bike, ones that could be inflated much higher than my current road/track tyres:
This might seem a little strange as a gift, especially an anniversary gift but it's actually incredibly thoughtful as I'd been muttering about how to increase my speed, thinking that it was just a matter of time, practice, experience, losing more weight and increasing my strength. He also knows just how much cycling means to me. I was utterly made up by this.
This afternoon, he fitted them on my bike, as well as giving it a(nother) service (during which he decided that in addition to all the tyres and brake blocks I've killed off since getting the bike, I now need a new rear sprocket and chain, and it won't be long before new wheels will be necessary as well). Then he decided that I needed to road test it (despite the extreme heat). So I had to plaster sunblock on and cover up as much as I could (probably took me longer to get enough sunblock on than the ride took). I did a two mile "test" and all was well, so then he wanted to know how much faster I'd be able to go so off I went on my 12-mile trip.
It was WONDERFUL. I was able to get along so much faster, it was way easier as well (and I wasn't putting any more effort in than I have on any other day). I got up hills in higher gears, and in gears that I never thought I'd be able to use UP the hills. And this particular route is 75% uphill. I am thrilled, to say the least.
And my top speed was 43.7 MPH! Higher than recently, but this was directly into that brisk wind, I can't wait to see how it goes on a quieter day.
My DH is such a hero. I've fallen in love with him all over again (not that I didn't love him anyway, he's my world). And I have no idea what to get him for our anniversary as there's no way I can beat that.
Incidentially, about a month ago I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary, being as it was a bit special (I don't know many couples who make it to 10 years, let alone 20) - he just gave me a look and said that as far as he was concerned, ALL of our anniversaries are special

I did it. The 20 min c25k run. It was a slow jog but dang it I did it.33

I just bought a new Gortex rain coat to replace my old coat that could now fit both me and my husband in it. I've never spent this kind of money on a coat before but I have a new life now. I spend it walking and paddling and hiking and doing things that i havent had the energy or desire to do in over 25 years. This expensive Gortex coat is my gift to myself to celebrate this awesome new life. Rain or shine38

My husband kept following me around today commenting on my butt. I already knew my butt looked good, but it apparently takes 8 weeks of Strong Curves for husbands to notice.42

Went to the doctor Thursday for some issues I had been having...and he said, "Well, since it DEFINITELY doesn't have to do with your weight [or various other things] so I don't know what it could be from." Awesome!!! Fortunately it was not a serious issue and he said it should resolve itself within a month.
That being said, it seems like every other day I have a new NSV. Yesterday my overweight niece commented on my weight loss and asked if she could come workout with me sometime!!! It's water aerobics so I'm trying to figure that one out...22 -
I can't believe it took me this long to notice this (after 2+ years and -136 lbs). I leaned back against a wooden chair back and OUCH. I reached behind and felt the protruding vertebrae on my neck and between my shoulder blades, and it dawned on me---the buffalo hump is GONE!36
