I'm definitely with you on this one... my shoulders look great when I'm lifting. Next up, making them look great while not lifting.
Also, I bought new workout pants and realized I'm halfway through the sizes now. The sizes of those pants run XS-XXL, and buying an L means there are three sizes smaller than me, and two sizes bigger than me. I'm no longer in the biggest size (tbh, the brand used to only cater up to XL, so I'm only one size down, but still).14 -

I usually just do whatever video I feel like doing, but that strategy has historically left me woefully short on strength training (I'm a cardio junky!). I knew that if I ever wanted to maintain muscle, I would need to do consistent strength/resistance training, so I decided to try a set program. I have never had the attention span to complete more than two weeks of a rotation. Well, I did it, and I now literally see how important resistance training is - I am so much stronger, and I do think my shape is changing for the better! I'm going to start another rotation in a couple of weeks.
Which one? Would you recommend it?1 -

I have been using Jessica Smith's Walk Strong series - there are three, and I used the original Walk Strong set (six week rotation) and Walk Strong 2.0 set together with her six week rotation.
I have been using Jessica's workouts (both her free YouTube videos, of which there are hundreds, and purchased DVDs) exclusively for six months - her style and message very much resonate with me (respect your body and its limitations, but work hard), and it has changed the way I exercise. Her workouts are very well thought-out, are relatively short (most are around 30 minutes), and her rotations are also thoughtful with tons of variety. If you are not into beating yourself up during your workouts, I highly recommend her.10 -
I had such a weird NSV recently. ... I managed 100k steps this week - first time ever for me, so I treated myself to a 30 min foot massage. I went to my local parlour, the girl was massaging my feet and said "you look slim now!" haha which was really funny for me to hear since I still need to loose 75 pounds
I think she meant to say I looked slimmer, but it made me both chuckle, but also to feel great ... to imagine one day I might actually be slim too! haha .. it was such an odd phrase to hear "you look slim now!" ...
The journey continues ...20 -

This weekend I ran for 32 minutes, just over 2.5 miles. The only reason I stopped was my clumsy butt accidentally pulled the emergency stop on the treadmill. I really really wanted to run a 5K (a first for me) but oh well! I'm giving my legs a few days to recover and then I'll try again. I feel like I know I can do it - another first for me!22

@wanderingarcher Thank you ! It's all working out, too ... I managed to run 4.6 miles this morning - and I only stopped because I didn't want to overdo it. I could have gone longer. Enjoy your day7

Good job, training "smart" and not necessarily " hard" is the approach, you will improve your performance, be injured less and have less ache and pains. Keep it up.5 -

Ohhhh, you found a muscle! That can be addicting and such a wonderful motivator. Congratulations!10 -
@tirowow12385 Thanks for the encouraging words2

a couple of months ago I could not wear a pair of capris because they were too tight, last month I could just sort of wear them golfing. Today I wore them and had plenty of room in the pockets for spare balls and tees----AND I did not need the spare balls because no balls were lost in any creek or lake. All is good!27

I set up my work area at my office to stand at my laptop now, it's been 5 days now. I'm generally at my office for about 4-5 hours a few times a week, lots of driving to and from clients, had enough with the sitting. Can feel the difference in posture and pressure to stay balanced and not lean, it's such a simple thing but quite impactful. I'm looking at standing desks for my home office too now14

@JoAnna4731 Thanks for the video tips. I'm also cardio junkie and have the problem of sticking with a strength training program.
@allison8668 I found "effortless" running a few months ago. LSD "Long Slow Distance" relax and slow down. I have progressed from running less than 2 minutes to 90 minutes with little effort. My husband says My running looks effortless. I am almost 60. My 5k in 34 minutes and 10k is 81 minutes. My challenge was overcoming spending so much time on myself. We are worth it!
@mebelfanti LOL! I have pulled that emergency stop sooo many times! I always say "Guess it's time to stop before I hurt something."11 -

Haha thanks - I’ve re-found some in my arms and legs too but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the one in my shoulder before!4 -
Swam for an hour nonstop again today after having walked/jogged a little over 5k a couple of hours earlier. Checked myself in the mirror after getting out of the pool and I had the nice definition from muscled that hadn't relaxed yet. I didn't think I was that far along yet.17

I bought these pants a month ago and they didn’t fit. They fit now!!44 -
No alcohol today. This is a great victory for me as I've recently been using it to cope with a few things. It was starting to reflect on my progress as well. So last night I said no more.

While taking a picture of said child’s pose, I noticed a frightening lump on my shoulder. Was about to self diagnose myself with a rare form of cancer when I realized.... it’s a bone.
Ha! I did the same thing. I was rubbing my chest and I felt a tumor until I realized it was my sternum..😅👌13 -
I actually have ribs that you can easily feel!12

I have developed a habit of drumming my fingers on my breast bone.7 -

This has been a frustrating week as, due to leg pain I have been unable to exercise - or even undertake routine activity for very long. This means so little food and not much luck with the scales. However! This morning I bought a 14(UK) top and it fits beautifully! This is the first time in about 20 years I have been able to wear a 14 on my top half! I had managed to climb to a UK22 so I am feeling quite pleased with myself. My bottom half and top half are now more or less the same dress size - YAY! For many years the top half was at least 2 sizes bigger than old slinky hips here Let's hope that they shrink at the same rate as I hopefully get to a 12.
2nd sort of NSV; this afternoon a very good massage has released a lot of the 'knots' in my anterior tibia muscle and I am feeling a lot more comfortable - starting exercising gently soon.26 -
I haven't told anyone other than my husband that I'm actively trying to lose weight. Today one of my coworkers walked up and said "You're losing weight. I can see it." I said "Oh, I've just been spending more time at the gym" which is true, but I don't want my weight loss to be a topic of conversation. Still, I could have hugged her for saying that!30

Yesterday when I picked my kiddo up from summer camp he gave me a once over and stated loudly, "Mama! You're way smaller than you used to be!" It was a little embarrassing, but mostly very nice to hear He's 7!29

Over the past 2 months, I’ve lost 1.5 inches from my waist, 1.5 inches from my hips and 1 inch from each thigh ! And, during that time, I only lost 7 pounds.
