So I have to agree with what others have said, this doesn't sound like the most efficient system for getting things done, although I don't have a farm so maybe I'm not the best person to speak...but I DO have a dog, and he's quite high-energy, and if I walked him six times a day by the fifth walk I'd be dragging him down the street. Why do you walk your dogs so much? Also, it sounds like you're on your feet running around all day, so why do you need an extra workout after that?
You said when your husband gets home you help him with "projects"...is that every day? Can't he let you sit down while he does the projects, since your days seem quite busy and possibly take more physical effort than whatever he might do working?
I am a farm girl, and am no stranger to livestock. It doesn't have to be this hard. You have to be smarter than the animals and work in an efficient manner.0 -

Holy mother of...

You don't like my suggestions?
I actually read all of OP's post hahaha.
Oh okay! Whew, you had me worried that I was out of line with the suggestions!
Personally, the waking up at 4:40 sounds good to me.. OP should perhaps do the workout at this time AND the running of the dogs listed on your last list.
That sounds more beneficial and OP will have a full day of workouts that actually FEEL like a workout to them.
....OP??
Edit: I would also try to build my own automatic/timed feeders if the cages are nearby.. Then again, I like building stuff.
No more hungry animals, more time for OP to relax a bit.
I like your suggestions too!
^^QFT!!!!
What does QFT mean?0 -
To me that entire list is one giant exercise program seriously.
I second that seriously. & I have to be perfectly honest here, I felt like taking a nap half way through reading it... I can't imagine how you felt writing it, let alone doing it daily.0 -

I think pretty much all of us could make a list like this of our daily routine. If you really want to work out (other than your high-activity routine), you'll rearrange your schedule and make the time. But let me echo the other posters: why do you walk your dogs so much?0

Good Lord, woman. I'm exhausted just reading your list. I can't imagine doing.
I think you need a couple of minions.0 -
If your husband's hours have been cut back, can't he make his own breakfast and lunch at least?0
-
I used to think it meant "quite f*cking true" haha0

I used to think it meant "quite f*cking true" haha
I do too, lol it's still what I think when I see it.0 -
Waking up at 4:40 seems incredibly early. Unless you're really forced to do it, I don't think you should do that everyday... you're not even sleeping 8 hours a day.0
-
Your husband can make his own food. Your sprinklers need timers. I don't know any dogs that need to be walked more than 1-2 times a day, honestly, and you could run them and save so much time AND get a better workout. If your husband's hours are cut back at work why isn't he there more to help you with chores, and KNOWING that you do so much through the day why is he having you help him with "projects" as well? You should probably talk to your husband and make a better plan.0
-
I also have a very busy life. However I don't allow myself to make excuses or justify my occasional slips in exercise, because it is the life I have chosen. No one forced me to be busy. I am the only one responsible for my life style, which means that I can make changes and adjustments whenever I want or when it's necessary.
You might consider organizing your life in different ways. Also, I believe if something is really important to us we make the time to get involved in that activity.
I used to have a friend who never " had time " for anything, especially not exercising and eating healthy. But she did have time each day ( and built all her activities like shopping and medical appointments around those time slots ) for two soaps, Oprah and some re-runs I don't remember. That was I believe a minimum of 4-5 hours just during the day. After working as a teacher for almost 40 years THAT was what was important to her. It was her choice.......she died two years ago from complications from poorly attended diabetes just over a year after she retired.0 -
Also, if you were just looking to vent and not for advice, suggestions, etc. you might have titled your post as 'Rant' or something along those lines. Otherwise, don't get too sensitive when the hounds are unleashed.0

So much scrolling in this thread... :sick:0

Honestly you are just very scattered, this can easily be done more efficiently. I used to take care of more animals than that in a couple hours daily, and water my garden and not flood it. Granted I was a kid to young 20s, and I didn't make bread or do laundry, but this included milking several stubborn goats and filtering the milk and jar-ing it. I seriously only used a couple hrs/day on many more animals, so I could maximize my time goofing off as a kid! Use a timer on the hoses or just turn on a kitchen timer, walk the dogs less for longer, make it a game to do things more efficiently.
For example I'd take the compost out while carrying the chicken and duck feed and drop off both on the way in one trip and return after setting a hose to water the garden and collecting the eggs in one trip. Then go again with goat and sheep feed but also the milking equipment so I didn't return without doing two tasks. Then I'd feed the rabbits, refill the water, and refill the duck/goose and goat water, and when I'm done its time to turn off or change the water for the garden on the way back. Etc. etc. Of course there are always longer non daily projects too, like cleaning out all the used hay from the barn (read heavy soaked with goat piss and crap in many wheelbarrows) to put on the compost, cleaning the rabbit hutches, turn the compost, help the goat birth, always a planting/hoeing/weeding/collecting task, etc etc., but these are done only one/day or spending one day doing all of these so the others are free, not every day. It was actually pretty fun, I miss those days and the fresh produce. I count you lucky.0 -

Honestly... if you can't make time for yourself, then you are absolutely doing too much. You really should talk to hubby. If this home business is becoming too much, either he needs to consider quitting his job and helping you, or you need to hire a helper.
I'm sure you could find an animal-loving teen that could take over some of those feedings for you after-school for a few bucks an hour.0 -
This content has been removed.

What in the hell is with all of the quotes?
QFT!
Just stahp it already, you guys!0 -
umm yeah

I can't even. If that's truly your schedule, why do you need to work out? Watch what you eat, and call it a day. If lifting is something you enjoy, then you're going to have to find something on that list that you enjoy less than lifting. If all of that is really 100% necessary, then I'm not sure what you expect. We can't manufacture another hour in the day for you, and if we did, there would probably be another animal that needs to be fed or walked or medicated.0
-
The important thing is that you have your excuse.0
-
Also: you forgot "spend 30 minutes on MFP writing out a list of crap instead of working out."0
-
You CHOSE to have animals so why complain? Surely you'd get to the 100th pet and think 'okay that's it now'?0

^^QFT!!!!
What does QFT mean?
THANKS!!!
I'm sorry! I should have explained that in the first place!!

It's okay, other MFPers had your back!0
