So, I already know about the futility that is the Factory of Sadness. What's the story on Manziel, and why will he continue to add to a long line of inauspicious Cleveland QBs?

    1. He's not 30.
    2. He did not get overhyped while playing at ND.
    3. People will actually give a **** about the browns for a millisecond...

Is this where the Charmin comes in? For all the sheet that will drop on the field?

He got overhyped playing at Texas A&M....I think that's worse.

    Logic fail.

A&M was not an "it" school when he came. Sure, "decent" football tradition and a good run in the late 80's and 90's, but it's not like the program was getting the coverage that a Texas, Notre Dame, USC or Ohio State was getting where players are (or were at the time) getting national attention each game.

Johnny has to overcome lack of notoriety of the school to get his time in the spotlight and this "hype". And save a loss in his first ever game and a bad game against LSU, he has a remarkable first season and beats Alabama at bama. He puts A&M on the map.

Then he goes to twitter and the rest is history...but he actually had swim upstream against the hype machine.

Granted this downplays how awesome A&M's move to the SEC was, but I'm going to post like a Texas fan living in denial.

Remember when Matt Leinart, Vince Young and Reggie Bush were all going to revolutionize the NFL?

Something tells me the kid will be a bench..oops! I meant to say bowl, warmer for quite a while, but I guess we'll see. It took that long for anyone to pick him so it was obviously a last option.

    +1

My guess is Johnny Football will be out of the NFL before his rookie contract expires.

I hate to say it, but his accuracy from inside of the pocket was very good..........with his ability to extend plays, he could end up being solid.

Jerry Rice compared him to Steve Young.....I am not buying the comparison, but it is worth noting considering the source.

I think he'll probably develop into a very good QB. He has to learn how to run a pro style offense first though. Realistically, the Browns are going to play Hoyer and put Manziel on the bench.

People forget that he's throwing to Josh Gordon. Both of those guys make plays happen when plays have no chance of developing. It could actually be very exciting to watch.

Yes, it is such a terrible line having and future hall of famer-pro bowl LT and a pro bowl Center.

I hope he is on the bench all season, it means that Hoyer and the team is playing well.

Don't have hopes for the playoffs, but I would be surprised if we are not 8-8

As a Steeler fan, I hope he fails. But IF he fails it won't be his fault, as the Brown never set up their QB's for success. A QB is only as good as his line and receivers.

Take the Steelers... we have an amazing QB but still ended up at 8-8 because our line sucked. And the receivers didn't do as much as they could to help. And our D blew.. Oh wait... Damn.

The Steelers QB is far from amazing. He has the natural talent to be amazing, but I doubt that day will ever come. Too stubborn to truly buy into a short passing game. Does not have the arm or accuracy for the deep pass (underthrow much), and takes way too many sacks. I agree 100% that we need a better OL, but his sack total in inflated due to HIS style of play. At times exciting to watch, but laughable anytime someone tries to compare him among the elite QBs.

I respectfully disagree. I feel his style of play is what elevated the Steelers to 3 Super Bowl appearances. If you put Manning or Brady on our SB teams they wouldn't have done as well as Ben did. His high accuracy play extending method is what worked behind the porous O-Lines we had those years. The only years we had a decent O-Line with Ben was the '04 & '05 teams.

And I agree it is too early to begin to consider him "among the elite QB's" as he isn't done yet. But his already impressive resume of accomplishments cannot be denied.

Just my $.02 - Not trying to hijack the thread.

I liked you before this quote, but now even more. He'll get hurt, size matters. Anybody a Washington fan? Remember the hit by Baltimore? How was RG III after the hit? Johnny will run and get smacked, injured, and be mediocre due to size(small) and brain(lacking). I like Cleveland improving, but because of their other picks not due to "Johnny Knucklehead".
