IS MY NEW JOB SABOTAGING MY METABOLISM??

So its sunday and on Thursday i started a job where i put one small flyer on peoples door knobs for $8/Hr to get some extra cash coming in, the thing is i get alot of houses to do. For example i walked for maybe 90 minutes straight on thursday and most people had like 3 stairs or more to get to the door. Saturday was the same thing but all together i walked for AT LEAST 4 hours STRAIGHT. The today was refeed day because i am cutting and i was walking for app. 6-7 hours. Recently ive been looking so much more leaner in the mirror, which looks equivalent to as if i was starving myself since thurday, and i dont weigh myself either. Partially i think its because ive been holding water for the past month and have been looking exactly the same also because i had a massive refeed 2 weeks before and a moderate refeed one week before. So should i be eating more calories on weekends when i have alot of walking becuase im starting to think that the walking is putting me in like a 2000 calorie deficit since i look like ive made 3 week progress in 3 days and i dont want to eventually fluck up my metabolism so how much more calories should i be eating to be losing 2 lbs like i should be? Or should i just eat like i currently am, becaue i really want to know if its okay to keep losing fat like this or if my metabolism will be ruined soon.

Just eat some of those calories back. What's your current weight? I don't know what refers are so can't help you there.0

what is your goal? according to your locked profile you need to lose 150 pounds? but you say your starving yourself???0 -
The wall of text casted CONFUSION on me.0

This doesn't even make sense.0 -
Yes you need to eat more.
Not necessarily ON THOSE days since you might not have time.
Overall for the week though you should be eating enough to compensate for all that activity. Try to either make a daily average that you feel you could comfortably eat daily, or just try to make up for those high activity days with a high cal day following since that's when you'll likely be hungrier. that's how it works for me, at least when i workout more than usual.0 -

...walking is putting me in like a 2000 calorie deficit ...
4 hours @ 3mph @ 175 lbs -> 735 extra calories burnt
You are not in any way shape or form harming your metabolism.0 -

OP is also not walking 3mph for 6 hours at that weight.
300 lbs @ 6hrs @ 1.5mph -> 950 extra calories burnt.
Scale accordingly....with that much weight to lose, OP could eat literally nothing but supplements for months and not "sabotage" their metabolism.0 -

walking is definitely going to sabotage any weight loss efforts...0

No you don't need to eat more unless you're getting weak? As long as you're getting the correct calories or more than the required 1200 to keep your body from going into starvation mode, you can burn as much as you want, and all this activity should increase your metabolism, not decrease it.
Hopefully you will be able to purchase a Fitbit or Jawbone UP to track your steps and that will sync with MFP to show you how many calories you're burning during the day.0 -

Why?
Surely the exercise OP is doing for this job will help with weight loss.
Op eat back the exercise calories to net a healthy amount.
Don't worry, you are not going into starvation mode.0 -

If we could do it, that would be in italics for sarcasm.0 -

What is a refeed day?0

I'm not sure where you're getting 2000 calories of burn from but I highly doubt you are getting that. Are you wearing a monitor for this measurement?
While I definitely disagree that just because you are "that heavy" that you could eat nothing but supplements and be fine, I don't really understand where the concern is if you weigh 300+lbs and you look like you're making progress. I mean, if you're not monitoring anything, how do you even know what's going on?
If you weren't doing that much exercise, and then suddenly adding slow to moderate walking for extending intervals at varying intensities, you're going to see a body composition change. ESPECIALLY if you are heavy and mostly fat. You're basically saying that you're doing 8-11 days of modest workouts in the span of a couple days (looking at this as 1hr cardio per day)... so you can definitely eat more during these days but if you're not feeling faint or feeling weak, and you're eating your standard intake anyway, you should be fine.
If you are talking about refeed days as in you are basically doing intermittent fasting, you may need to adjust. If you're talking about the concept that some people have in their heads where, when they overeat their daily calories, they call it a "refeed" day or "spike" day and justify it by saying it shocks the system, you should know that in many cases of very overweight people, doing this is bunk... Not only because it's not necessary, but also because most very overweight people vastly underestimate what their daily needs are, and thus the "refeed" day often has them eating a level of food that is more appropriate for them to eat on an every day basis.
Get a pedometer at the very least and start tracking some stats, and start weighing, do something, otherwise you're just peeing in the dark.0 -

.... since i look like ive made 3 week progress in 3 days ....
i don't think that's possible, otherwise everyone would just save themselves the effort and starve for 3 days sitting on the couch? eh, i could be wrong..0 -
I'm confused. What?
Also, if you have 150 lbs to lose, why are you running refeeds? They are not necessary for you. I'm not sure what any of your daily numbers are, but you do not need refeeds. And there's probably a 99% chance you aren't doing them right anyway.0 -

I at least assumed that OP wasn't referring to bulk/cut cycles, based on their given information and apparent understanding... But refeed is a term used in a variety of ways on here. Some use it to indicate spike days, others for fasting/fed cycles, others still for days on which they calculate their extra calories for the week and eat more that day so not to have too much of a deficit at week's end. Without more information on the plan the OP is trying to follow, it would be impossible to know, but if they truly need to lose 150lbs, it's likely that none of these would come into play, with the exception perhaps of using spike days as a way to excuse overeating (you see this a lot sometimes, people who ate too much today and say "Oh, I guess today is my spike/refeed day."0 -

A refeed is a refeed. There are not a bunch of different type of refeeds just a bunch of different people who confuse what it is and use it to justify their overindulgence in food for a day.
An actual carb refeed is intended to serve a purpose, not to allow an individual to pig out.
Refeeds are used by people who are generally lean, in men we're talking 15% and under but in reality it's more realistic to start at 12% and under and can be necessary for those dipping into single digits.
At those body fat levels and if carbohydrate levels are low enough coupled with proper training then you'd be susceptible to a reduction in glycogen leaving you looking flat and at the same time affecting training performance due to reduced energy levels.
Leptin reduction is another goal to address during the refeed and usually one of the main goals. So in order to do that we look for insulin spikes, big ones, all day. However, actually being able to properly manipulate Leptin takes several days of this type of feeding. But a days action will have an effect that will lead to helping control hunger. Unfortunately for people like the OP who have a lot of weight to lose, they are not really susceptible to reduced Leptin.
There are guidelines, structures, specific food selection, calorie and macro ranges that need to be adjusted. Running a proper refeed is actually harder than your standard days caloric deficit. To many people out there hear about them and think it's a great idea because it's a free pass. They are wrong.
There is plenty of information out there on this if you research properly but unfortunately it does appear to many people are to lazy to read up on stuff and just want answers spoon fed.
Thanks for your explanation, except for the judgmental slam at the end of it. Some people, like me, get confused by the different ways in which the term "refeed" is used and are looking for the generally accepted definition. It's not hard to get confused when there is no single operational definition.0 -
