Nickelback Rock??? I don't think so. LOL
But, having said that, I don't turn the station when they come on and actually like a couple of their songs.
    But rock, they are not!!

NIckelback and rock should never be used in the same sentence.

    Nickelback ROCKS! I reference "Breathe.'

    Come at me, bro. :-P
Rock is anti-establishment and against the grain. Nickleback is the establishment........and the sandpaper

ACDC is also quite mainstream and reserved...

I don't want to sound like a jerk or like I'm bashing anyone who likes them, because I know music is completely subjective to the listener and I respect peoples preferences in any type of entertainment... I just like bands that have a little substance to them and/or technical ability. Take a band like Alter Bridge. Myles Kennedy is a lyrical poet and Mark Tremonti can outplay any guitarist in mainstream rock, yet they are one of the most underrated bands in the last decade. Alot of people know about them, but they choose to stay *sort of* under the radar because they want to focus on the artistic and expressive side of their music, instead of on writing catchy radio hits that will make the girls melt. I saw an interview once where Alter Bridge stated that they would rather play to a club with 500 people than to play an arena with 10,000 people. Intimacy and a connection to the crowd is so much more intense with a smaller crowd.

I went through an AC/DC phase, then I turned 14 and they were just old news.

Nickelback is not music. It is a corporate-engineered monstrosity designed to appeal to those who don't like music or have rock-bottom standards.

    And Canada.

My opinion too. Most country music is designed to make people cry.

all any of us half *kitten* rock fans ever care about anyway are the ballads and "sell out" songs anyway, so I think what they come up with is quite brilliant.

<<<< NOT, a half *kitten* rock fan, so no. I get why Nickleback is popular, but I prefer the room full of hammers option mentioned in the newpaper clip someone posted.

Classic country, yes. New country also makes people cry, but for the wrong reason...mostly because it is somehow still labeled country...There is definitely a tear in my beer just thinking about it.
