I'm so happy my little nerdfest has kept going.

I was ashamed to be a nerd through middle and high school.
Got to college, went "f**k that!" and since then have proudly brandished my nerd card whenever the moment called for a touch of nerd.0 -

What's the difference between a nerd and a geek? I get them confused.
let me help you with a handy Venn diagram:
Been laughing hysterically at this ..... I can say with authority that I am neither a dork nor a dweeb .....
Then you are, by definition, a geek. I think that's where I fall out on this Venn.
I searched this in vain to find where "engineer" fell. I peeled up the word "nerd" and found it.
To all engineers - this is NOT a scratch and sniff. This has been verified.
Can someone tell me if I'm socially inept or not? Because my obsession with palaeoanthropology ticks the other two boxes. So I don't know if I'm a geek or a nerd.0 -
OMG I laughed so hard at this....!!!0 -
Only one IT Crowd gif? Must fix that.
Oh yeah, and I..
- am a software developer by trade and passion
- have contributed to the Open Source community
- enjoy anime/manga (and have since high school)
- was the curve-buster in every class
- actually had some teachers use my test as the grading key
- passed all my classes in school without cracking a book
- was the one everyone wanted to team with for review games (until I stopped giving answers)
- learned computers by repeatedly tinkering with (and breaking...then fixing) my first computer (with the help from my nerd dad)
- run Fedora as my primary operating system
- know the implications of the previously-mentioned comment about chmodding the bash scripts to 777 (ftr - generally bad idea, 655 is usually sufficient; allowing the world to edit an executable file is usually a very bad idea)
- ranked in the 99% percentile in both ACT and ASVAB (nothing like having West Point and every branch of the military tripping over each other to recruit me...)
- have actually trained in Ninjitsu
- own several thousand Magic: The Gathering cards and have built several custom decks
- own more books just on computers/programming than I do shoes
- have met John Resig in person
- have hung out with Greg Weisman and Thom Adox-Hernandez
- have built nearly all of my desktop computers
- not only played World of Warcraft for four years, but dressed as a night elf Druid (only because I don't have the costuming skill to go as a Tauren Druid, my race/class of choice) to earn my collector's edition of Wrath of the Lich King
- married a man who was president of the chess club and ran the computer independent study program in his high school
- met aforementioned husband while he worked in the computer department at Best Buy and was still in his uniform
Yeah...I'm a nerd...0
