I read a recipe for one somewhere that used pumpkin butter (like pumpkin cooked down to thickness with a couple ingredients), and such to make one that tastes like pumpkin pie. The extra protein and fiber from the pumpkin would be a huge bonus!

I love overnight oats!! This is my favorite recipe, but there are SOOOOO many variations.

1/3 cup rolled oats (or old fashioned oats - I like thick rolled oats best
    1/4 cup pumpkin flax granola
    1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup greek yogurt (I prefer Fage plain 0%)

Mix, let sit in fridge overnight... delish!

    60ml unsweetened almond milk
    60g 0% greek yoghurt

then I added 75g blueberries this morning.

It was like wallpaper paste!!! - where did I go wrong?!

I did it recently to it was disgusting. Same thickness as when I put them in. To many calories for not much food.

If it was just the consistency that was the problem, it might have been that you used greek yogurt, thicker than natural yogurt. Try adding more milk next time, and perhaps add the blueberries in overnight too? The juices might sweeten it bit when you shake/mix it, just a thought.

Must admit that it took me quite a few attempts before I found the right combination of ingredients and quantities - my first try with Scots porridge oats and milk was horrible.

Overnight oats is my lunch of choice...inexpensive and delicious.

    1/2 cup whole oats
    1/2 cup almond milk
1/4 cup ff cottage cheese with pineapple (usually use a nectarine but out of them today and the cottage cheese boosts the protein)
    1 T ground flax meal
    1 T pumpkin seeds
    Pinch of salt
    Sweetener of choice

Add a little additional milk if too thick for you. This will keep you full for hours and hours.

You did nothing wrong. The consistency with steel cut oats is better, but still... totally not worth the hype for me.

I tried those 'brownie batter' oats and it tasted anything but. Just not worth the calories for me.

I like the IDEA, but I'm not sure I can get my mind around the concept of cold wet oats. I'm so used to warm oatmeal with fruit and nuts, which I love - until IT gets cold. Also, if a person likes their oatmeal on the not so thick and dense side, will they like cold, thick, wet flavored oats? Guess I'll just have to try it.

What is the purpose of the whey powder? Just to add protein?

    yes

    (and flavour)

The consistency is a love/hate thing for most it seems.

The drawback for me is the substantial lack of volume compared to nuking with water and eating hot.
