A How To on Being Sucessful With MFP

Success doesn't always mean losing x amount of weight. In fact, you can lose x amount of lbs and STILL feel like crap.
• Make it a habit: Walk to to the gas station to get milk or bread, pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy, etc. Carry around a water bottle and make it a goal to drink until you need to refill it 2-3x a day. De-clutter your closet, garage, and basement using the pomodoro technique [http://pomodorotechnique.com] [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique] donating clothes to local non chain thrift stores, and calling 1800-got-junk to pick up things like furniture, boxes of junk, large electronics, etc.
• Use state / town parks and forests to your advantage. Go for a walk, swim, hike, mountain biking etc. Drive on roads you normally wouldn't using GPS.
• Put your car through the car wash once a week, or even twice a month. I'm a big believer in if the car's clean and tidy then it'll perform better. May not be true, but it's nice to think about.
• Take a stay-cation ! Along with the local state / town parks and forests, you should also spend a day at local events, museums, aquariums, fairs, bike tours, and amusement parks.
• Make a point to go to bed at a reasonable hour and turn on some white nose.
• If you're able to, spend less time at home, and more time out an about. Whether it's errands, or whatever. Even if you have to make an excuse and pick up things you need at the grocery store, it still counts.
• Write down a list of things you truly need. New mattress ? Elliptical ? Living room furniture ? Bedroom TV ? Car ? Then explain why you need that item and what you can do to achieve earning that item. IE: "I need an elliptical, so if I clean out the basement, I can reward myself with one. I'll feel good because, I got rid of things I didn't need and replaced them with things I did need."

I don't have a car do I wash someone else's?
You never know ! Some people would be willing to pay you to do things for them. IE errands, grocery shopping, etc.0 -
Do I have to clean my car that often, or can I get somebody else to do it for me? Or if I just have nice thoughts about it being clean, will I lose weight as successfully?0
-
I don't have a closet, garage or a basement. Is that why my weight loss slowed down last month?0
-
And this has to do with MFP how?0

It's very much an off topic post, but cute to read IMO0 -
Hang on, healthy adults are paying somebody to wash their cars?!
But I seriously don't have a closet, basement or garage - will this effect my MFP weight-loss?0 -

I don't get it. Did the drive through car wash break? :bigsmile:0 -
About the car wash...RAIN washes cars. I will not spend money to have a car washed!! Cars are to get you from here to there; doesn't matter a damn what they look like, clean or dirty. And in any event the state of the tool used to get you around has no bearing on your performance.0

No need for the pessimistic talk. I'm saying that you feel better for the car being cleaned and vacuumed. I for one won't get into a friends car without knowing I can get in, out and move around without issue.0 -

How old is this car that doesn't need to be washed?0 -

Not me. Plus I only drive it about once a week, so certainly don't wash it near that often, park it outside, and also don't have a basement. I'm sure that's why I got fat.0 -

With two white Jack Russells and a truck with black cloth interior I'm shocked that I didn't reach my goal weight after a month.0 -

Wondering the same. If you don't wash your car, you don't care about the state of the paint. So I'm guessing it is pretty old. As far as the state of the tool - I'm guessing you want it in pretty decent running condition if you want it to get you around. :huh:0 -

I have a car.
I'm sure we can work something out here.0 -

White noise, TV and radios when I'm trying to sleep make me rageful, so sure, turn them on - if you never want to wake up ever again.0

Is that sort of like how it ain't the size of the ship because it's really about the motion of the ocean?0 -

If that's the case, then seriously...

Wait, now we have to wash the outside AND the inside of our cars? That sounds like a lot of work.0 -

It's not a big deal apparently, you just pay someone to pick your car up, bring it to the car wash, bring it back and then give you your change back.0 -

But what if they won't get into it because it's a bit dirty? It's like a wild dirty car catch 22 situation.
This is getting really complicated.0
