Anything about ancient history... the Egyptian period before Tutankamen, the Battle of Thermopylae, that sort of thing, or documentaries about natural history; new fossil discoveries, the decline of honeybees, overfishing, pollution of oceans, that sort of thing.

    Eat, Fast, & Live Longer
    Food Inc
    Supersize Me
    American: The Bill Hicks Story
    No End in Sight
All the Michael Moore ones I've seen, which is most.
    Blackfish
Luna (about a killer whale, and I cried like a little girl)
    Grizzly Man
Taking Aim: The Story of the American Indian Movement
    GasLand
    Reel Injun

Incident at Oglala – The Leonard Peltier Story
The Revisionaries (why I would never want to be a school teacher)
    Dirty Wars
So many on our exploitation of Latin America that I can't even begin to name them all.

I could pretty much go on forever. I better stop now.

    Okay now I'm stopping. Really.

Don't feel bad, I had to google virtually my whole list. Pretty sure my longterm memory has been replaced by the internet. Just type in documentary and a bit of what it was about.

"Bigger, Stronger, Faster" is a good doc on how people see themselves physically and use of PEDs. It's pretty balanced too, not biasing on either side.

    Restrepo was pretty damned brilliant.

And I'll go ahead and throw Pumping Iron out there as well.

That's a good list, Meerata. I saw Kumare, and it was good. The revisionists sounds very interesting -- i will check that out. I saw one on North korea and life for the people there that was very disturbing, but also informative. Even though we have a lot of things wrong here, it made me so glad not to live in north Korea, and so sorry for those that do. An oldie but a good re; our messing around in South and Central america is called the Panama Deception.

    Another co-sign for Hoop Dreams.

One of my favorite lines from a movie ever...

William Gates: That's why when somebody say, "when you get to the NBA, don't forget about me", and that stuff. Well, I should've said to them, "if I don't make it, don't you forget about me."

    ............

Also - plenty of the ESPN 30 for 30s:

    The U
    The Two Escobars
    Without Bias
    No Crossover
    Fab Five
    Once Brothers

It's going to take me a while to remember. And some I may not want to say, as they are so sad.

Kumare (already explained by someone else)
    Family Affair (about family abuse)
Very Young Girls (about young girls that are recruited into the commercial sex trade and a woman that has been there and now helps to get them out and to make changes in the laws that put these children into jail)
Broken on all sides (about the prison system, my friend made this one)

There is one that I think is not finished yet: Coached into Silence (also about abuse)
