One i find overly amusing is - wife is a baby catching nurse and told me this one.

    La-a Pronounced Ladasha.

    Poor kid.

    Names I like

    Penelope (my daughter)
    Henry
    Maxwell
    Victoria
    Stella

ETA - just remember another one i dislike Nevaeh or Heaven spelled backwards. My wife sees some of the oddest names for newborns

I was waiting for this one. Now we wait for:

    Lemonjello and Orangello
    Deniece and Denephew
    Female (fuh-Molly)
    Shlthead (sha-tead)

and others I can't think of at the moment. I, too, was a baby catching RN. I never met anyone who did this to their baby.

Since when is Connor a hipster name? I know a guy in his 40's named Connor.

I really like names typically used for the opposite gender. Like Shannon for a boy or Ashton for a girl. My husband isn't a huge fan of that, so we probably won't do that with our kids.

Like I said, I don't have kids, but here are some names of kids in my husband and my families...

    Jessica
    Braxton
    Abigail
    Lila
    Mariah
    Destiny
    Hunter
    Jordan
    Dustin
    Caydence
    Sabastien (yes, spelled like that)
    Kholton (yes, spelled like that)
Madelynn (same mom as the previous two)
    Joshua
    Brandon
    Ashley
    Tiffany
    Kevin
    Kayla
    Savannah
    David

...all but one of those are kids in my husband's family. Kids running around over there like roaches. Hasn't anyone ever heard of a condom? Ugh, southerners.

Oh man the list is crazy long of silly names....I feel for the kids.

I am more annoyed by obnoxious spelling than obnoxious names.

I know someone who named her daughter Ryliee. WTF is the point of the "i' if you're going to put a double "e" on the end? Your child's name will be spelled incorrectly 97% of the time for the rest of her life. Congrats.

Gemma - hmm I wonder who that is. *wink*

P.S. It's pronounced as a beautiful gemstone, and that's what it means.

Ha! I've only seen that as a last name - well, Jacques, but close - and it was pronounced like "Jakes."

Ross is one of my favorite names ever... probably because it's my uncle's name and he's the coolest guy I know.

Sure you can. There's no law (just a tradition) that says you have to give your children the same last name as the parents.

A friend of mine has the last name Woodc0ck, but his kids last name is Woods. He didn't want them to get teased like he was as a child.
