Need to switch up the cardio

Hello!
So I have finally starting exercising on a regular basis. I have been biking to and from work every day so I bike 22 miles a day 6 times a week. Over the past few months I have managed to lose 14 pounds and I feel great! I use a polar FT7 to track my calories burned and I updated my weight on the watch a few days ago. With the weight loss comes a lower calories burned/hour. I am wanting to switch up my cardio to help adjust for the reduction in calories. A few months ago, before I started biking, I was trying to start running again. I started the C25K app and made it to mid week 3 until I got really bad shin splints and I had to take a break for a few weeks. During that time I bought new running shoes, compression sock type of things for my shins, and did daily exercises to try to strengthen my shins. I attempted the C25K from the beginning, week one, last week and I was already getting some really gnarly shin pains.
I am hoping someone has a miracle solution as to how I can ease my way back into running. Its super frustrating bec besides the shin splints I feel totally physically capable of running and I even managed to run a 5K about a month ago and everything felt great minus the shin pains......Hoping someone can give me some useful tips....Thanks!
