I've been using N.O. Xplode 2.0 for the last couple of weeks. I'd love to say it works, but even taking two scoops and a double espresso and I don't notice anything at all. The Fruit Punch does taste good though.

^I'm shocked.. I mean a double espresso on its own for me results in shaky hands and sweat...

I guess everyone's body is a hair unique

I do caffeine, works good so far ... sometimes when doing fasted weight training I'll toss back some BCAA's.

    ^I use BCAA's right now and take 3-5grams 5x a day
    Creatine
    C4
And then different proteins Whey/isolate etc.

The preworkout tho made the most substantial difference in my actual workouts tho.

BCAA's are bad@$$ if you are on a caloric deficit tho

    why 5x daily for bcaas?

I've been taking Scivation's Xtend (BCAA's) during my workouts and between breakfast and lunch for almost 3 weeks...I'm not sure if I notice much of a difference though.

    while on a deficit?

and it requires intensity - as in wut maizerage66 was referring to earlier - in our strength training there is no standing around waiting to do the next exercise - I not only kill myself and go all out each time - after doing something chest A - I will walk over and knock out something core A - then knock out something legs A - then go back to the initial chest A exercise 4X ... then I knock out something Core B, then knock out legs B then chest B 4x - etc.

It is basically circuit training still within the push-pull technique - while performing a type of HIIT just with strength training.

^this is where BCAA's will make a huge difference - that and of course you have to be on a deficit.

Morning: there is 5.5 grams of BCAA in Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard usual protein shake
    10am: - take 4 grams - 4 pills.
noon - there is 5.5 grams of BCAA in Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard usual protein shake
    preworkout - take 2.5 grams 5 pills
    afterworkout - 2.5 grams

I used to take another 5.5 in my evening protein shake prior to bed, but I take Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Protein now prior to bed because it keeps me feeling more full all night.

I use the Melaleuca Access bars 15 minutes before a workout on on empty stomach. It really helps me get through a tough workout without fatigue and soreness. It contains CLA and that helps your body use fat as fuel instead of muscle. And if it helps several Olympic athletes then I am sure it can help me. And since I buy it directly from the company, I get it fresh and at a preferred customer discount.

nope!! - ironically the best time I think in all my reading of WHEN it is best to take them is during workout and prior to bed (which is not when I'm taking them at all anymore  )

as long as you're getting them in, obviously its best to get from lean protein sources, you should be solid!

I'm a health nut and want as much of the effects as possible without breaking my bank account..and I read that having 20grams daily is what competing body builders take on the daily.

^I read on other forums of some guys that take 20grams DURING WORKOUT!

I know a lady that takes these and likes them - I think it is more for suppressing hunger then providing the effects of a pre-workout supplement tho.

technically it is a pre-workout supplement tho so thanks for your insight :flowerforyou:

So i'll toss my hat in.

My current regimen is two hard lifting days a week with my strength coach who is a competitive BB that loves destroying me, and then the rest of the week is 3.5-4 hours swimming workouts, and 3 runs of 5km+. All of this on a touch of a deficit, because I've got some to lose. I'm finding my recovery from the lifting days is slower than I'd like.

Proteins: Cellucor S'mores and Cinnamon Swirl types, 2-3 scoops daily
    ON's Amino Energy - 2x daily
    MP Glutamine - 1x daily
Power Shock - 1 or 2x whenever I remember it

and for when I'm dragging *kitten* during a workout cytomax or R3plenish

    ^& I've heard good things

MP Glutamine - I'm ganna try this so thanks for reaffirming that.
Power Shock - 40 calories? - wut is this for exactly?

    I forgot I also take B6 & B12 supplements as well.

And vitamin D because I burn in the summer like an egg white dropped in a pan.

swimming is bad@$$ - I was doing it about 3 days a week... seriously the best cardio with the least tear to your body.

Liquid B vitamins and caffeine tablet 15 minutes prior to starting workout. It may not sound like much, but it makes a huge difference to me in performance.

yeah I used to do shots of B12 - and to me it was ridiculous... if I took a shot prior to bed I was in for insomnia madness.

I agree B12 & B6's merits are not talked about enough.

caffeine is great as well... green tea anyone?

I've taken N.O. explode and find that I don't experience as much energy after using it for 3-4 weeks. I've used Arnold Pump, MP Assault, Nitro NCG, and Mesomorph.

Mesomorph is AMAZING. I take it just prior to doing about an hour and a half heavy lifting/HIIT workout. It powers me through my workout without any problems. I'm on my second container of Mesomorph now and it is by far the best pre-workout I've taken.

I mean what a mesomorph is..I am a mesomorph.. but I have no idea what supplement you are referring to.. I thought it was just a body type?

have a link for where you get this?

On's - energy, actually. I'm testing the waters with it, but the last two workouts I've used it during, I've completely nailed the hell out of them. Placebo effect or real effect? I don't know at the moment. I've not used it with the cytomax, so who knows how it would be with that.

Power Shock - I have it now because it's something a friend gave to me to try out. Supposed to be a heavy dose of BCAAs, it's odd though because I get a very pronounced brain buzz from it, very much unlike caffeine. Makes me a little jittery if I use it for anything other than on days where I have a lifting session.

Oh the pill stuff. On's multivitamin, On's ZMA, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, Vitamin C.

I've been getting a ton of vit d, between running and working in the yard. You're not kidding about swimming btw, it ALWAYS leaves me spent.

ETA - oh yeah, at least 5g of creatine daily too

I have no idea what most of the products are in this post other than BCAA's. I used to just eat a banana, but would still struggle with final sets on some lifts. Now I take Vega's pre-workout - it's like a silent endurance. I never feel any of effects of stimulants, but I also don't have any issues with sets and am able to throw in some extra accessory work.

I take protein powder when I have too for recovery.

I don't like it because it makes me gain weight, but can turn a miserable rest day into a nice non-painful rest day.

OP what were you addicted too?

    Yeah no.

Water and maybe a banana an hour before.
I eat for nutrition and energy.
    No need to supplement.

The potassium is helpful for balancing out sodium lvl ratios from all the protein and supplements - but why else would one take it prior to workout/?

    Daily:

    Multi-Vitamin
    Calcium
    Fish Oil
    Creatine Monohydrate
    Beta Alanine
    HMB

    Pre Workout:

    Upper Body Workouts: Hemavol
    Lower Body Workouts: Compete

    Post Workout:

BCAAs if it's after a cardio workout. I eat enough protein that I don't feel they're necessary for me unless I'm doing something like Cardio that has the potential to use Protein as fuel. Plus I always eat post workout anyway.

I used two kinds I bought at Sam's Club (it's like Costco):

Muscle Tech 100% Premium Whey Protein Plus in Chocolate (Deluxe Chocolate?)

    and

Muscle Milk - 100 Calories Light Chocolate Powder

I'd like to try something that meets my needs more, I am still in the weight loss fun of my fitness, although I do some lifting also to aid in that.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying one that is tailored more to my goals, but they are so pricey and some taste like chalk and lumps.

I tried a raw vegan protein once that made me sick.

I've tried a few from the health food store Sprouts.

I don't even know, I'm shooting in the dark!

I was thinking about trying Body by Vi.

Some chic I met in person who seemed really healthy and happy used it.

no, I have no idea what it is - I never heard of it and don't take it.

It's Beta Hydroxy Methylbutyrate, which is a metabolite of Leucine (the most important of the 3 BCAAs). It preserves muscles and promotes Protein Synthesis. I took it while I was on a cut and liked it so much I've continued taking it. I was able to lose about 10% of my bodyweight, actually increased my strength, and lost very little muscle while on my cut. It gets crap reviews if you Google it but that wasn't the case @ all for me.

    'whey' to go!

I'd figure out what macros your trying to hit and just work the protein shakes in with 'em - there should be no reason either of these would increase your weight... in fact the drudge report just had a link up last week of scientist advising high-protein based diets resulted in ppl feeling more full and shedding more lbs.

I wouldn't sweat the Muscle Tech 100% Premium Whey Protein Plus in Chocolate - not an ideal type but not to bad either.

Muscle milk is eh... my friend has a fridge just jam-packed with it so I have it occasionally at his place if I'm chilling in the hot tub.. but.. it's not my ideal 'cup of protein'.

k I will have to dig in further to investigate it. ... a metabolite of a specific BCAA.. interesting concept...I can clearly think through the potential benefits of taking it..
(to the reader a metabolite is the end result of your body metabolizing something) for example if you take a drug test - they are testing the results of your body having metabolizing the substance rather then the substance itself.
