What is Your Favorite Vacation Spot and Why?

Mine is Negril, Jamaica. The crystal clear water of Seven Mile Beach, and the friendly people, keep calling me back. The fact that it's only about a 4 hour plane ride is also a plus!

Can't really say it's my favorite, because we haven't been yet.... Ireland. It's the only place my husband and I want to go that neither one of us has been to yet. We've been talking about it and planning it for years and as soon as some of the kids move out we will go!

So far our favorite vacation spot has been a little town in the mountains in Colorado. Peaceful, quiet besides the sounds of nature, beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls, wildlife everywhere, it's amazing.

Depends on what you're looking to do on vacation.

For doing nothing but relaxing, my favorite was Hilton Head, SC

For sight seeing and being active, that honor goes to my France/Germany trip. Walked around Frankfurt for 3 days, Paris for 4 days, then the beaches of Normandy for 3 days.

These answers will both change when I finally get to Hawaii or Italy.

My husband and I like to go to a "honeymoon" cabin in Hot Springs, NC. It's our version of camping, LOL.

I had a great time in Ireland. Galway was especially beautiful, and so were the Aran Islands!

Which little town in Colorado are you talking about?

I will ALWAYS go to UK. Hands down. But, recently, I went to Isla Roatan and fell in love with it! Surprising, because I'm so not a beach & tropics kinda gal, even though I live in Fl!

(Roatan is where my profile pic was taken...)

That's tough - but there must be mountains and lots of hiking trails.

We love the Smokies, Wyoming, the Pacific Northwest, Maine, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Vermont...

I don't feel like I'm on vacation unless I'm walking 10-20 miles a day, with a backpack on, and sleeping under the stars. :-)

My favorite so far is a toss up betwen Waikiki and the Grand Cayman Islands, 7-mile beach but that might change in September, I am going to Belize, Mahogany Bay Isla Roatan Honduras, and Cozumel. I love the beach and I love snorkeling
  • My dream is to go hiking and what not like the person above me. But since I've never gone it has to be Italy! The people there are amazing and since I speak Spanish I can some what communicate well with them lol. OH the best pizza and ice cream are there :p

Thats a great question... there are so many places I haven't been yet. But if I had to pick one I would say my Aunts place in florida. We stay at her house. We cook, take day trips, swim in the ocean and the pool. We get to spend time with family. The best of both worlds.
Now to a place I have dreamed of...tahiti...its a place I have joked about going for years.
My step daughter is planning her wedding in Maui. Hawaii is a place I dont care to go to. I grew up in a tourist town and think it will be very touristy.

AbbeyDove: It's Fort Garland, Colorado. We go on short vacations about every 3 months, a long weekend with no kids. We decide how many hours we want to drive and then put a circle on a map and pick a random city. Fort Garland is a tiny little town and I loved every minute we were there.

I love the island of Maui because it's beautiful beyond belief and my grandfather was born there. I also have a lot of family history that goes back to a Scottish sea captain and a Hawaiian girl.

Before we sold our motorcycle, I used to dream of taking a trip up the east coast in autumn; stopping at Bed and Breakfast's along the way, and ending up in Maine for some fresh lobster. I bet that state is gorgeous; like where I was raised in Northern Michigan.

Going out on a limb here - absolutely LOVE Boston, MA; the why is because to me it feels like home.

Spent a lot of time there in my college days, going back & forth between Boston and MD because I was in a long-distance relationship with a guy who lived outside the city and just fell more and more in love with Boston every time I went!

Though my dream vacations are both Ireland and Japan! Someday they are the places hubby & I will eventually visit!

I've also always wanted to go to Salem MA. My maiden name is Carrier, and I've always wanted to take a picture with Martha Carrier's memorial stone and read some of the history of my ancestors. I've read books and history on the internet and what not, but it's not the same.

I don't like to go to the same place more than once but staying at an all inclusive resort anywhere in the Caribbean is awesome. Eat and drink all you want, go out and explore during the day or park your butt on the beach all day. Also fun activities like snorkeling and kayaking!

Also, I've been to Istanbul about 3 times. Absolutely beautiful city with a clash of European and Middle Eastern culture and so much history. It's where I met my husband and we go frequently to visit his family.

I like San Diego and Orlando. My husband and I don't do "relaxing" vacations - if we want to be bored or spend a week in bed, we'll do it for free at home. The luxury of having no kids yet.

    San Francisco, CA

I'm going again in October with my boyfriend. I love this city, it has many different types of cultures and there's a lot of hidden gems. We normally go for four to five days and we usually park the car for the whole time and walk the island for the majority of our vacation. Oh and the seafood *drools* I can't get enough of it!

I would say probably Yellowstone National Park. Spent 9 days camping, saw more animals than at the zoo, lol. Went Fly fishing with my hubby and my boys, but I did the lazy way with a bobber, hubby wasn't catching anything, but every time I threw my line in I caught a fish, I must of caught at least 20 something fish!! Best fishing ever!!

Favorite is relative. My favorite place in the USA is New Orleans. But, that's for partying and delicious food. If I want relaxing beach life, my favorite is Fiji. But, that's expensive, so if I want something similar but cheaper, I go to Mexico. If I want something even cheaper and similar, I stay home and go to the beach. I can even take a 30 minute drive, to a different beach and feel like I'm away from home. If I want to experience some culture, I can head over to Ireland. Go to the south, and you'll see the amazing beauty of their harsh rocky oceans. If you want mellow, but interesting, you can head to Australia. And, if you just want down and dirty, there's always Bankok or Amsterdam.

All are favorite locations of mine, but it depends what you're in the mood for.

Wow, you are blessed to have seen so many beautiful places!

If I'm going for relaxation then hands down it would be the Cayman Islands. It is beautiful there, I have yet to find a place that is prettier.

If I'm going to have fun and party then it would be Cancun Mexico or Nassau Bahamas

Leroy, my man, you have got to take some R&R time! You know what they say about all work and no play!

We aren't well off, especially since my husband has been off work with spinal injuries; but you can take a relatively inexpensive vacation if you avoid all-inclusives. Sure, it may seem like a good deal, but the price allotted for all food and drinks is so jacked up that it's cheaper to buy your own. We've found a place that some would consider "rustic". It has 2 beds, a little refrigerator, coffee pot, dressers and a bathroom; but it's only $350 for the whole week! We bring an electric griddle with us and just eat out for dinner. The ocean is about 25 feet from our deck. We get to really know the people, too, and have made quite a few friends over the years.

Mine is a picturesque little village in the Sahel Savannah of western Africa. The earth is red and the waters cool. The Palm wine tastes more delicious than the freshest orange juice, and the beautiful faces of the indigenous peoples look ever so familiar... btw, $100 buys you enough food to last an entire month! tee hee my secret vacation spot!
