It's MFP and the "F" is awesome!

I have been on the "better eating" thing for a while now but just started the F part of MFP. The more I work out the better I like it. (I'm totally with you on the lose/loose thing... drives me insane!!)0

I swim 3 times a week with a group of older ladies who crack me up with their stories. Today I realized the class was over and we all stayed in the pool 35 extra minutes chatting and still doing aerobics. It can be fun. I also dance 3 times a week and lift weights 2 X. Lifting is a chore, but a necessary one....Keep up the good attitude!
@Stacy - That was like when I used to do an exercise class back in the nineties. About 8 of us would hang out and we all became friends. What is great about fitness friends is that they don't care about how much money you make, The house you have, the car you drive.. just the common goals of just trying to get more fit!0 -
but this allowed me to obsess somewhat less about the scale and made it easier to see it just as data points.
@lemur - The data points thing is right on. I have an MFP friend and he posts the coolest graphs and they really show that "slow and steady" works and that being consistent is the key no matter what the scale says.
It is the long term "process" vs. the "quick results"
Great Job!0 -

@RebeccaP - Yes - Hooray for the "F"
And I am so happy that there are others that get incensed about the lose/loose thing. There are standards! :drinker:0 -
I love my exercise regime, I ride my bike to the beach 10 mile round trip. Then I go snorkeling while I'm there, swimming about a mile. I also started practicing Qi Gong again which is like Thai Chi. On days that I don't get my exercise, fresh air and sunshine I usually get the blues. My personality type: Weight loss/Healthy food/ self improvement Guru (wanna be) haha, but that's who I am, and I want to help anyone who will listen.
Lose a pound, then lock it down!

My favorite F word is a bit different........It's Free shoes!! LOL
Thanks for all your support. You rock :drinker:
@Rhon - Thanks so much! :drinker: Free Shoes That is just so classic - I am almost tempted to find a "Kitten in Shoe" gif... but I will restrain myself
I'll do it, because I am procrastinating on what I should be doing. Plus, the dogs have already been represented in this thread.
Edited: because the other one was seriously ugly, which is sad for a kitten picture.0 -

@nutmegero - You are too kind - Now this thread is complete as it has {{dramatic music}} a kitten gif! :drinker:0 -

If you want an actual kitten with shoe gif:
But that takes us away from your OP, which is that feeling better, getting stronger, and being fit is a really cool final outcome and that the scale weight should take a lesser importance over the other benefits. :flowerforyou:0 -

@nutmegero - On the contrary - Kitten Gifs are very important. This is MFP after all LOL :drinker: :flowerforyou:0 -
I haven't hit the "I love working out and eating healthy!" blah, blah, blah. Yet.
I joined MFP over a year ago, and it's only been in the last, um, 20 days, that I've tried logging most of my food (yes, even the spoonfuls of natural, raw peanut butter with Nutella - don't judge) and I put the Fitbit back on.
I'm in that stage of complaining my body hurts and whatever other sort of excuse I can come up with, but....
I'm still changing.
Not every day is a fabulous day. Not every day are the best food choices are being made. But I'm starting to think differently - my body aches and I'm already sick of walking. What can I do instead?
This is new to me. So for me, F is "forward thinking"

@rogue
Great realistic attitude. I started and stopped with MFP. I even went AWOL a while (very sorry about that). I am finally just starting to try to get my "act" together, but it is a "day by day" thing.
Last year I hurt my ankle so I couldn't walk for a while. I started doing a lot of Stationary bike and kettlebells - it was an eye opener. Now I still do that stuff even though I can walk now.
Good luck!0 -
** Of course I am sensitive to people who have chronic conditions and disabilities which prevent traditional exercise.
Well, I love exercise simply because it helped me overcome some major problems with a chronic disease. Five years ago I could barely walk a half mile without being in pain. Slowly but surely, I built up my strength and endurance and am actually able to run now! This is something I though would be impossible even a year ago.
Exercise opened up a whole new world to me!0 -

Exercise opened up a whole new world to me!
That makes me want to go and work out!0 -
This is so great that there are more exercise fans than people who see it as a "burden"0

Just lost a co-worker to cancer yesterday, and one of my good friends is on permanent chemo (which I think is the new code for terminal).
Darn right we should all be thankful for every day we get!
I love exercising too, especially lifting weights.0 -
I genuinely look forward to getting up at 4:40 AM to lift & I'm at the point where I would rather change my body by eating maintenance (or more) and pushing myself physically than by worrying about hitting a calorie goal and weighing less.
Even when I was overweight I was reasonably physically fit, though insecurity kept me sedentary. I was always afraid of people looking at me jiggle and shake. Now I don't care what people think of me, I work hard and I do it for me. I figure if they don't like it they can look away. I've also cured chronic sciatica through exercise, which is pretty rad.0 -

@perserverence - that is right - Life is short and the fact that we can exercise is definitely a gift!0 -

I go through phases of having your enthusiasm, and phases where I don’t. But I keep coming back, and that’s a lot better than my previous life.0

@iplayoutside1 - I hear you there.. I just went through a really bad phase from November to April where I never logged onto MFP and gained 20 lbs. I just felt like I was in a "fog".0
