is there only one gym available in your town?

i pay less than 20 dollars a month for mine (golds gym)

ymca is also an inexpensive option.

there are about 6 gyms in my neighborhood and they range in price from 85 dollars a month to mine, which was on special for 19.00 a month.

but you dont HAVE to use a gym. you can even do body weight exersizes.

Yeah only one gym, that's why they charge outrageous prices. And then they want me to sign a solid contract. I can't just pay for one or six months. If I sign up it has to be a lifetime membership and I don't want that. They also don't have instructors or anything. Small town.

Can you recommend a good program for home? With minimal equipment?

That's crazy. Does no one in your town ever move?

My town has NO gym - I would have to drive to the next town or the city to work out. and we move in our town. at any given time during the day you will see people walking the 5K around the section of wheat just outside of town.

if you cant get videos even - you tube has lots of free options

Not for me. *shrug* But I am proactive in finding solutions for myself.

When I first tried to lose weight (2 years and 90lbs ago) I bought a book called "No Gym Required" by Jennifer Cohen. It has a 14 day workout (1 day rest) it goes through how to do every exercise and has pictures too. Furthermore a 2 week eating plan is included with recipes.

Otherwise, I'd recommend checking out the internet, I use a lot of the fitnessRX ideas and stuff from Shape magazine. Also the bodybuilding website (aptly named bodybuilding.com) has a lot of body weight exercises you can do at home.

Not sure if that helps, hope it does! Good luck!

That stinks about the gym. You need someone that can help with your form. I think a PT may help since you don't know what you are doing. Form is really important so you are working the right muscles and not injuring yourself. I don't think you would need one for long or that often, just for the start.

Yeah I suck at form...I can't even do a pushup right. for my tutorial we did crunches. the side crunches worked my neck more than my stomach

I would say if you are really unsure how to go about achieving your goal, and you can afford it? Absolutely 100% get a PT - I would in a heartbeat if I could afford it. They will also push you while you are training and motivate you to push yourself.

Go to grokker.com. They had a ton of free workout videos of varying lengths and emphases. I use it for yoga along with some dvd's. Most of the videos look like they use dumb bells.

Suggest have a look at Max Workouts.... an initial 90 day programme using minimal equipment, 30mins each day, 5/6 days weekly, can be done at home. A full programme of exercises with instruction, nutritional advice, excellent videos and ,like MFP, a friendly and helpful user forum. Initial outlay about £20...$25?. Hope this helps. Kind regards.

i would go for eating at a small deficit - TDEE -10% and look into some strength/resistance training - you are your own gym, NROL4W, or if you want a dvd programme, P90X3 is excellent.

^^^This. Based on your pictures, you still have some fat to lose, and you are new to lifting, so this is not a time for you to bulk. Also, you will get MUCH better results from your resistance training by following an established program designed by experts like those suggested, rather than randomly picking some exercises.

    Best of luck to you!

^^yep, especially the point that you are new to lifting. Take advantage of 'newbie gains' while you can.

Look at You Are Your Own Gym, Body By You, or Convict Conditioning.

It really depends on your goals, your ability to get your training/form down on your own, the actual PT themselves cost etc.

See if your health insurance will pay for your gym membership. Mine does.
