I had a friend who bought it and said it was basically a joke and didn't see any results, but she's the only person I know who has tried it.0

Stolen from this month's Men's Health
Shake Weight for Men
What's the science say?
Muscles don't grow just because you contract them; they need the challenge of added weight, says Mark Peterson, Ph.D.
Gym Alternative
Moves that target multiple areas, such as bench press or bent-over rows, grow muscles faster0 -
I bought about 6 months ago, but have never used it. That is about like all my other weight loss equipment. That is why I am overweight and joined MFP. hahaha0

omg bought it and took it back the same day... total joke... ask Santa for something else lol... don't waster yer money.. :laugh:0

If that thing worked then pretty much all males would have wicked arms.. and that is not the case! haha0

I saw that at Walmart too, and the box was ripped open, so I took it out and tried it right there, and it seemed kinda dumb. I wouldn't waste my money on it personally.0

I got it for my wife last X-Mas as a joke, because she saw the Ellen episode and laughed about it for 2 days straight. Other than that, I don't think it's a very effective tool0

this is pretty much all there is to that thing. It is a JOKE.0 -
I would say dont add it to your Christmas list.... Go for something else that will work better.... Maybe a step counter to count your steps you walk...0

actually, it's funny you should ask because I always thought it was a bit of a joke... AT least until I saw one of the trainers at my gym using it with some of his clients. Now... It depends on the results you want because bot the guys and gal's version of the shake weight only come in one size (to my knowledge anyway). Anyway, I asked MY trainer whether it's any good and he (in turn) spoke with his colleague who explained that used in conjunction with a fitball, can produce some very good results. Again, if you're young and are trying to really trying to sculpt and tone, it would probably be better to use dumbbells (that way you can increase the weight as you improve). However, there is no reason you couldn't use it as a starting tool along with other resistance exercises (planks, push-up's, fitball sit-up's etc) to burn cal's and lose some weight. Not all "as seen on TV" items are junk... Some are really good and work very well.0

Yeah, I hate that commercial. It totally looks like they're practicing to beat it.0

Fitness Magazine reviewed it and didn't think it was that bad.0

I know the commercial cracks me up.*yeah sometimes my humor is that of a 12 year old boy lol..will have to check out that south park episode...
Personally I don't see how it would help.0 -
Its probably good for what it is, and I think South Park hit the nail on the head as to what its training those muscles for.0

Wow, a fitness magazine that makes all of its money from fitness companies thought a fitness product from a fitness company was good? Crazy!
The fact that people think this thing will work shows a huge flaw in people's understanding of what builds/strengthens muscle. Yet more proof that something being hard doesn't mean it's actually helping you.
(no offense mlb)0 -
thanks everyone it is definatly coming of my christmas list i will go with some good old fashion weights lol
You guys are great !!!0 -

I use the bands at home to work out, seems to give me a decent workout when I can't get to the gym. I had a trainer show me how to get the best from them. Cheap too - $120
