Hello, I'm about to start a new lifting program and need to up the protein in my diet but I can't have whey, pea protein seems to be the next best economical choice, does anyone else use it and do you find it does the job? Looking at macros etc it looks ok other than not being complete in essential aas but this is just a booster I should get all my essentials from meat, fish and eggs which I eat plenty of.

Welcome!

I have yet to try pea but there is also rice, egg and soy (complete) proteins. I will be trying rice next as it is pretty well priced and has decent nutritional value.

Pea protein has a bit of a back taste which can be hard to get rid of. I use a mixture of pea and soya. Though soya doesn't mix well into things like soya milk

I have been using VITAL (brand) Pea Protein Chocolate for a few days here in Australia. It's good. A protein-rich powder that suits vegans and anyone cutting down on meat proteins.

The chocolate flavour masks the golden pea somewhat but one of the recipe suggestions (which I use in my super blender) is 25 grams of the pea protein powder in a mug of water, a couple of ice cubes and a handful of berries (of your choice).

So far, I have used strawberries, blackberries and cherries. All made a smooth palatable drink. Flavour-wise, I enjoyed the blackberry version best.

I'm sure similar stuff exists all around the world.

Try Whey Isolate -there's no Lactose, you'll be fine. :)
