    i agree with the author... carbs ARE awesome.

    people who need or want to cut carbs as a strategy for weight loss, don't bother me at all.

    people who insist that carbs MUST be cut as a necessity for weight loss, are the ones i tend to disagree strongly with.

    Carbs make you fat because they are so delicious that you tend to eat a lot of them (to the point, basically, that it sends you into a calorie surplus). Watching your carb intake can be beneficial because it can help you be more aware of your intake. (I don't think he's saying anything about low carb stuff..just lower carbs - like IIFYM type deal).

    And a quote from the article that sums it up:

    This is disregarding the fact that fats are more satiating than carbs so you are unlikely to gorge on fats as they make you feel fuller faster and longer.

    This is exactly what the article points out that most people do... get caught up in the minutia.

    As BP said, they're in everything! Fruit and veg have carbs ffs, so people who say they're shredding and doing no carbs will be sadly disappointed with their very berry banana smoothie :P
    However as carbs can come from anywhere I think it would be advisable to see where the carbs are coming from and what they do to the body. For example the cbs in a sweet potato and a jam donut both breakdown into our cals but the refined and processed stuff in the latter will probs do more harm than good.

    I'm just saying we don't have to think we're not allowed carbs.....just better ones.

    But donuts doe mmmmm :)

    Realistically, human beings as a species are not carnivorous, and we're not predators. Think of a predator (carnivore)... Cat, wolf, praying mantis, falcon... What do they all have in common? Weaponry, built right in. They are born to kill. Teeth, claws, speed, stealth... We're born to be herbivores, and adventitious or adaptive carnivores when the opportunity or need arises. Therefore -- we're meant to eat carbohydrates predominantly -- fruits, vegetables, etc..

    We were never meant to eat this much meat, and western civilization is paying for it dearly -- more than 40% of western culture dies from heart disease (the #1 killer, above all cancers and every other cause of death) directly related to animal food consumption (animal protein and fat), whereas more than 75% of the global population doesn't even have heart disease (or cancer), and they rely on plants as a primary food source (mostly carbohydrate, but still with fat and protein). Food is medicine, and we are what we eat.

    Not all carbohydrates are created equal.

    Also, if we are not natural predators can you explain to me why vegans have to resort to lab grown supplements to maintain the nutrients their diet lacks from not eating meat or meat products.

    ive been vegan going on 3 years and have not taken any supplements ...i wonder why my blood work always comes back perfect
