Gastric sleeve versus other types of WLS

Aloha, I have been considering gastric sleeve procedure. Since it is the permanent removal of the left stomach is there a problem maintaining desired weight goal once you have achieved success?
My concern is post op. Read a lot about success stories during first months of surgery. Any one have an experience of what life is like after weight loss?
I seem to lose twenty pounds and then just for some reason cannot lose more. I eat very good food when I do eat and feel this May be an option.
Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance but is gastric sleeve something that is considered for patients with only 40 lbs to lose? It seems extreme for that amount of weight.
If you're willing we can go through some trouble shooting here to help you figure out why you're stalled.

I'm not sure you'll get an answer. This is an old thread. Someone's been bumping all of the old gastric sleeve posts today.0

dammit. Oh well, I guess I'll never know. Unless, ya know, google.0 -
To be able to have a sleeve gastrectomy you have to have a BMI higher than 400

I just want to know why someone would want to permanently remove part of their stomach with only 40lbs to lose...or the doctor that would even perform that surgery.0 -
I love that you guys are supporting my laziness by just giving the answers.
Idk, my first instinct was that they absolutely wouldn't do that procedure in that scenario, but I didn't want to just call someone out based on an instinct.
And no, I wouldn't remove part of my stomach except as a last resort.0 -
hulahelen I was 250-220-250-230 and hung there for a while. Being 63 it is much harder than 30 years ago I find in my case. Over the last three months final got back to 220 and now around 218 so I know I can make it to 210 then set a goal for 195. I think 210 will give me a BMI just under 30 so I will no longer be labelled Obese.
In my case I had to cut Carbs to <50 grams a day and that killed the sugar, grain and other processed carb cravings and I added fats to make up for the carb calories that I have cut. Others just do fast day plans or one of many other diet plans.
Read up on different options and see if one appeals to you that you think you could live with the rest of your live and give it a try perhaps before looking at surgery. Surgery does not appeal to me on any level cut and but can be motivation for me to find and work a non surgery option. Best of luck with whatever plan you run with.0
