I don't get it!!!???!!??
As I was walking downtown today I paid an extra attention to all the girls’ thighs and I noticed a lot of girls with chubbier legs don't seem to have cellulite and a lot of girl with skinny legs have tons of cellulite. Isn't cellulite a bunch of fat cells tapped between skin layers??!???!? It just doesn't make sense to me!!!
Can someone explain this to me!!!!! How will I ever get rid of cellulite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's mostly genetic. It depends how your body stores the fat.0

Define "fat girls".
fat girls = round girls
Seriously I'm not here to judge the shape or form of any lady out there!!!! I was simply curious weather cellulite was due to our nutritional habits, our workout habits, or if it was simply genetics !!!!!
that being said, thank you for the advice of lifting heavy. I will definitly try that.0 -

It's existence is genetic but it can be mitigated with muscle gained through progressive load weight training. I've never seen a fitness model (candid photos not photoshop) with any appreciable visible cellulite.0 -

I have had a massive problem with cellulite, I do everything they say to: Drink loads of water, regular exercise, lifting, moisturise and massage etc... I am certainly conscious about my health and fitness and always have been, so it is always been frustrating to have this issue.
Recently I have noticed a HUGE change since starting up at spin class 4x a week. It is the only thing that has ever seemed to make a difference, I have only been doing it for about a month but I am staggered by the results. Give it a try and see if it helps at all.0 -
My cellulite doesn't show when it is hidden by additional fluffy fat. My face wrinkles are also nicely plumped out and people say I look much younger than my age when I'm well padded. As I lose weight, my thighs and tush get cottage cheesy, my double chin turns into a turkey wattle, and my nicely rounded upper arms turn into deflated banners of skin waving in the breeze. On the other hand, when I weigh less I don't need a derrick to get in and out of my chair.0

I've actually read it's caused more by smaller portions of your muscles under the skin atrophying, so the only way to help is to build muscle. So a chubby girl may still have nice muscle underneath. And a thin girl may not have worked out. It's genetics too. But I figure, no one cares about it who matters other than a person themselves, so no need to worry about it.0 -
Well safe to say I'm fat and I don't have cellulite. I also lift weights and eat a nutritious diet, rarely any fast food, and I drink a lot of water, I don't smoke, or drink much alcohol.
That being said, most women do have cellulite, so I wouldn't worry too much.0 -
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmm Ok. Answering maturely..
I'm fat. Which. I wear short shorts all the time cause I have a thigh tattoo and I HOPE you check it...anyway. I've never ever had an issue with cellulite, even at my highest over 300lbs. No woman in my family to the bst of my knowledge ever has either. I was always under the impression it's partly genetics and I just might not have a disposition for it.0 -
Cellulite is mostly genetics. You can blame your mama and papa0

Cellulite is fat cells poking through collagen that has broken down. It doesn't matter what you weigh or what kind of shape you're in. Everyone has a layer of fat.
Genetics and diet have far more to do with cellulite than weight. For instance, vitamin C builds and preserves collagen so eating a lot of it can help prevent or at least minimize it.
This is the same thing that causes wrinkles, so if you want to stay young-looking longer, eat a lot of oranges.
Also, don't go tanning. The sun kills collagen.0 -
I came here for pics... and was disappointed.

When I was fat I had cellulite...now I don't. I am at 151. My sister at 125 has cellulite...her friend at 110 has cellulite
difference...
I lift heavy.
and this tooYou are every girl's worst enemy0 -
cellulite is, like stated before, all about genetics. not about weight at all! i'm on the smaller side, 5'2 and 112 pounds, and i have had and prob always will have cellulite on my thighs and even a little on my butt! I just accept it. apparently its upwards of 90% of women have some form of cellulite, even if just a little. In fact, even supermodels have it. Shocking, but true! (they just airbrush that ish!)0

The more leg strengthening I do the less visible the cellulite is, no matter my weight. I guess it depends on the person though.0

because it's genetic..
it has nothing to do with weight or what exercise you do or how much weight you use when you do those exercises. ... just like there are some larger women with small boobs and smaller women with large boobs. i'm sure venus williams "lifts heavy" yet she still has cellulite
TL; DR : genes0 -

I've lifted heavy for 18 months and I'm at sub 20% body fat and I've got cellulite. Lifting can help, but it's not magic.
eta this link with pics of healthy fit women (many of them in the fitness industry) who have cellulite:

my sister and I are close to the same height, and were at one time, close to the same weight.
I have had cellulite since I was 16. She never has. Nothing like mine.
But... I got boobs. She wasn't so lucky.
I think I like the tradeoff.
As for the cellulite... well, I used to let it... and scarring on my legs from mosquito bites and sports, prevent me from wearing shorts and skirts. NOW I say screw it! These are my legs, this is my body, and I'm gonna rock it the way I want to from now on in.
You do the same.
and as for the "every girls worst enemy bit".. yeah, not so much. You asked a question, one I had thought too at one point. Not to be cruel, or insensitive... just being frustrated at who I was and not wording it right. I get what you meant.0
