    the ea personal trainer game is good :) i use mine every other day just for a bit of fun and to chill out with :)

    IMO if you're not using it as your sole source for exercise, yes it can be a fun way to work out on your rest days.
    Considering I'd have to play Wii Fit for 3.5 hours to burn the calories I'd burn on a 45 minute run, it's certainly not a practical way of exercising, but as I said it can be a fun way to burn a few calories on the weekends or something.

    It's good fun. I use it on the days that I am not at the gym. I'm pretty sure that some exercises on it don't really do much, but I can definitely feel the hula hoop and yoga working.

    We have a lot of fun with ours, but it's not a good enough workout for me. I would say great for a few extra calories and fun to play with, but you will probably still want some other form of exercise through the week.

    I've worked my butt off on it before. Now I use the wii fit free run for 30 minutes (because I'm not cool enough to run outside yet. I would probably trip over my stroller. Hahaha) but I also do something along with it. Kickboxing or 30DS or something. My husband uses it for a full work out and he definitely sweats it out on it.

    Yes, i use it for fun, mostly after a 30DS or HHA workout. I also have biggest loser for the wii. Although the calorie counter is WAY inaccurate, i love the actual workouts they have! I really work a sweat up on that. I usually use wii fit plus as a cool down method or a fun way to burn a few extra calories after an intense workout.

    As others have said, it doesn't really do enough to be my sole form of exercise. I have to Wii Fit for 1.5 hours to get the same burn as running for 25 minutes! That being said, it's a great tool to have in your pocket. I like it because it takes away all excuses. If it's dumping down rain or dark outside or I'm out of clean running pants, I can always still Wii Fit because I can literally workout in my living room in my pajamas. Plus, it's the world's most accurate bathroom scale!

    To wrap it up, if you already own a Wii system or are thinking about getting one for additional reasons (like Mario Kart!) go ahead and get it. It's an easy, low pressure way to get in a little bit of exercise when you really freakin' don't feel like it. But if you have other means of exercise and are thinking of getting a Wii system just for the Wii Fit...maybe not.

    For what it's worth, I lost my first 13 pounds with just the Wii Fit...

    Like others have said, I don't use it as my primary source of exercise anymore. I have Wii fit, Wii fit+ & the biggest loser. They are all loads of fun. When I first started my weight loss journey (before MFP) I did lose my first 23 pounds using Wii fit only.
  • I bought my Wii Fit over a year ago, and rarely use it anymore to exercise. That being said, I did use it a lot when I first got it, and it can work. I find it takes waaay too long to burn any calories, but it is fun, and the strength workouts can be pretty tough.

    I use my Wii Fit EVERYDAY to do the body test. It takes my weight, calculates my BMI, and gives me a couple activities to test my balance and agility. It's a great tool to use everyday, or as often as you weigh yourself, to get an accurate measurement.

    If you can find an original Wii Fit (not Plus) for dirt cheap, it's definitely worth the money, but I wouldn't spend the full price again if I didn't have it already.. I'd just buy a better scale!

    I am bumping this for more replies :smile: I might get this for Christmas and I am wondering about the Wii Fit Plus..we already have a Wii system. I started going to zumba classes about 4 weeks ago so I am getting other exercise that way...but would like to have this to do at home :smile:
  • I would have to say so. I use mine as much as possible so I don't get bored with working out. I also have gotten other workouts for my Wii as well. Like 2010 Altimatum and a new one just come out for 2011. This disk really makes me push myself. The thing I love about using the Wii is I can do it at home and I'm not just limited to using the Wii Fit program it comes with. My fiance got me the whole Wii Fit setup and I actually use it.

    We bought a Wii with the Fit Plus & balance board & some other stuff off Craigslist and my son and I have been using it since the day before Thanksgiving. He's lost 15 pounds and I've lost 11. It was great fun but I'm getting a little tired of it now. I still make sure I do the body test every day but don't feel as motivated to do the "games."

    I agree that it takes FOREVER to burn calories but when it was new, I didn't even notice. Until we got the Wii and the Fit Plus, I had been trying to get a program started for over a year and just COULDN'T. It finally got me started and just for THAT, I think it was worth it. Now I've ordered "My Fitness Coach" to use along with Fit Plus and will see how that goes.

    You betcha! I love mine. I hate working out, but have fun with it. I more work out with EA Sports 2 than with the Wii Fit Plus, but use it as my "off days". I would get it.

    So, after reading all of the comments-mostly "It isn't a good enough workout"..I had to reply. I started out very obese. At 300 pounds it was ALL I could do to do the Wii Fit. I worked off my first 65 pounds thanks to Wii Fit and +. I am now (still obese) but at 260 pounds (gained a bit back thanks to a pregnancy/breastfeeding) and use the EA Sports Active 2 and Wii Fit combo. For those of us who can't do "formal" workouts, this is not only good enough, it is a GREAT workout!
  • I am going to have to agree with SevenisHeaven above me.

    I think the Wii Fit Plus is a great workout , and depending on your activity level and the weight you are starting out at it can be super challenging. If you do the right exercises on the Wii Fit, for example, stepping, running/jogging, yoga and strength training it can be a sweat inducing workout, at least for me. Especially with the running - it is my favorite game out of all of them to just run or step because you can turn the channel on free run or free step and watch tv while you do it to keep your mind off of the timer.

    I also have used the Biggest Loser for Wii and while it sure made me sweat, for *me* there was too much of "put the controller in the other hand" breaks and it slowed down my workout but for some it is a fantastic workout and they love it. Now the Biggest Loser for Kinect on the other hand, really kicks my butt and it being controller free is amazing.

    My favorite workout game for Wii (also available for PS3 and Xbox 360) is EA Sports Active 2 it is a very sweat inducing workout complete with a heart rate monitor and easily trackable work out information! I can't recommend this one enough.

    But yes, I think the Wii Fit Plus is totally worth it and I do recommend it. Actually, I will be using mine today if I use anything today.

    Have Biggest Loser *Wii* and while it is a challenging workout, there are too many switch remote breaks and it for 1 breaks my concentration and for 2 slows my heart rate.

    JUST started with EA Sports Active 2 *Wii* and it is a very big challenge for me to finish this workout, and I am sore after *the good sore!

    I also have Jillian Michaels 2009 Ultimatum, My Fitness Coach, and Golds Gym Cardio. Out of all of the "games" I have I would HIGHLY recomend the Fit + and EASA2.

    * I do the boxing on Fit..I'm not able to do the strength yet and I dont like running...yet anyways. For 10 minute boxing I burn 98 calories. Not bad...

    It's good to read this post. I just ordered my system and Fit Plus and I honestly had a moment of second thoughts about the purchase, but I will definitely give it a try and see about some of the other games mentioned.
  • I love the yoga on the wii fit and some games for balance and flexibilty. I do not like the running on it and feel that running outside or on the treadmill gives me better form and endurance. I just got two biggest looser for xmas and have started one a little and like it.

    I use it on my days "off". It is a fun way that I can burn extra calories and have a good time with my kids while I do it. I use my HRM when I do it though...I don't go by the "calories burned" indicator that the Wii has. I wouldn't use Wii Fit as my only source of workout although Wii does have some other games (Zumba, Just Dance, Biggest Loser, etc) that can give you a good workout.

    As for Wii Fit itself, it just takes longer to burn calories.
    Yesterday I played for 60 minutes and burned 250 calories. Normally I can walk on the treadmill at the gym for 35 minutes and burn almost 300. But Wii Fit is a PERFECT way to burn extra calories when you do not want to have a hard/intense workout and you have extra time.

    Yes I say it is worth it if you don't have time to run to the gym. I was using mine everyday and stopped for a while and totally miss it. But now I am getting back in my habit and I am also going to the gym.

    I couldnt wait to buy the wii fit and for awhile i did use it but like normal i got bored of it but i do use it to eigh myself with and recently started using it again it does work though i think one week i tested it i think i worked out maybe 4 or 5 days in the week maybe an hour to an hour and a half each doing the step game and the hula hoop etc and i lsot 3lbs that week and i never gained it back, shame i got bored :) could of been a skinny minny by now...

    I use mine every day. I know there are better workout systems out there but this one is great for me. I wish it had a better interface and menus, but the workouts are fine. I do the Free Step every day. I like that one because the controller keeps the beat for you, tells you how many steps/minutes you've done, and does it all while I'm watching TV. I turn the pace up for a good workout and use light dumbbells while I'm stepping. The biking one is also a good workout for me, and is the rhythm boxing. The first time I did the boxing my arms ached for two days!

    It's a great alternative to regular workouts for me for a lot of reasons. One, I can't afford a gym and a one-time purchase of $100 (I already had a Wii) for the Fit Board and Wii Fit Plus is way better than paying for a gym every month. My job isn't a regular 9-5 gig, and even if I could afford a gym I don't want to have to go to a gym after getting off work at 10 at night because I'm worried about my safety. And I prefer doing the step aerobics in my living room because I'm way too self-conscious to work out in public.

    The biggest downside is having to stop what I'm doing to change activities or to re-start the Free Step program (it only lets you do 30 minutes at a time).

    Totally Love My Wii the Wii Fit Plus keeps you accountable and the work outs can be varied as you like. Great for when the weather is cold or too hot! Fun work outs and keeps track of your weight.:love:

    I disagree.

    We bought our Wii Fit in January, 2009. It helped me establish a regular exercise habit where I'd had none before. It helped me work my way up from the simplest step aerobics to being able to do an hour or more of aerobics at a time if I want or need to.

    The Fit Plus software doesn't give you as intense a workout as, say, an elliptical trainer or a Zumba class, but it is working well for me as my primary form of exercise. And some of the other software, like EActive, gives a more intense workout. I've made my own workouts more intense using hand weights and a riser for the step.

    The Fit has a lot of advantages for me: It's small -- it takes up less space in my house than almost any other piece of exercise equipment I could buy. It makes exercise convenient -- if ten minutes is all I have, well I can do ten minutes (and frequently do, while supper simmers or while I'm waiting on some other thing). I don't have to change clothes, go to the gym, go out in bad weather, or find a sitter. It doesn't cost me anything beyond my initial $300 investment in the Wii and the Fit, except for what I've chosen to add.

    I am absolutely convinced that the Fit can work just fine as a primary form of exercise, because it's working for me. I have no gym membership, no exercise equipment other than my bike (which I use during warm weather), and I attend no fitness classes, but by combining the Fit with MFP I've lost 16 pounds and gone from overweight and stuck at a plateau to normal BMI and losing steadily toward my goal weight.

    I say go for it. Best $300 I've ever spent on exercise and fitness.

    If you have the Fit board the Plus disk is only $20, and well worth it. It gives you calorie counts and BICYCLING!
