    I place my head against the pillow, soft and fresh, so often a reminder of our childhood times and when sleep does not come quickly, when I have not fallen asleep at the instant that my head hit the pillow, then I believe that half an hour later I might still be awake but I have then become, somehow detached from myself, the subject of the story and I am the church, the road, the child, the moment of a shared meal or the bark of a dog or something that leads me to believe that this would be a worthy moment to not wake, should I not wake, but then I cannot sleep for fear of missing sleep or missing being awake, in any case, missing something I cannot name, perhaps it is you that I miss in the darkness between the day and sleep.
