will this work with green bananas or some other fruit? I'm diabetic and can't eat bananas unless they're green (they develop too much sugar by the time they're ripe and their number on the glycemic index is off the charts). I'm not worried about the oil. Divide it into number of servings, realize how little it is (1/3 c is only about 5-6 tablespoons)and relax. You do need fats and without them your body will find new problems. Americans have become fatter than ever since the advent of non-fat diets and the non-fat food industry. Learn what fats are healthiest, use measuring spoons and relax. You probably won't get more than a teaspoon of oil in each cookie. That's healthy...if you must use applesauce at least get the organically grown variety. Apple orchards are notorious for over using chemicals.0

I've just made some with PUMPKIN. They are passably ok. I think they need some sweetening, but they aren't horrid. I got 14 chunky ones. Without oil or applesauce, the dates, pumpkin and oats come to 874 in total. Or 62 calories each (for 14).
350gm cooked pumpkin
1 cup/150gm dates
2 cups/210gm rolled oats
vanilla
