Do you have a favourite quote? One that you live by, or are inspired by, or just a turn of phrase that you enjoy?

Mine is just a line from a song, but it's always caught my eye.

she was sharp as a razor
and soft as a prayer

from a Tom Waits song.

When we long for life without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds and diamonds are made under pressure.

    I've always like this one!

Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter could be said to remedy anything.

    -Kurt Vonnegut

'Though we live in a world that dreams of ending
That seems forever about to give in
Something that will not acknowledge conclusion
    Insists that we forever begin'

    I like the Irishman's philosophy:

There are only two things to worry about: either you are well or you are sick.

If you are well, nothing to worry about! If you're sick - only two things to worry about: either you will get well or you will die.

If you get well, nothing to worry about! If you die, only two things to worry about: either you will go to heaven or hell.

If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about. And if you go to hell, you'll be so busy shaking hands with friends you won't have time to worry!

“Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.” -― Brian Jacques, Taggerung

I found this one after my mom died, and liked it.

My words of wisdom are my own: "The only difference between an adventure and an ordeal is attitude"

Another favorite is from the song "Almost Home" by Mary Chapin Carpenter "There's no such thing as no regrets, but baby it's alright"

"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

I am the daughter of earth and water, nursling of the sky.
I pass through the pores of oceans and shores, I change but I cannot die.
