I will be going on the wt loss journey too...so lets keep tabs on each other. Lost 55# in 2013..gained 8# back in 2014 and goal is to lose 28 lbs and reach my goal of 160 lbs. Have not set a goal date yet but am going to keep logging food and exercise on MFP until I reach my goal.
  • thank you...
  • My goal is 160 as well

Hi - Feel free to add me. I totally understand the "over 50" challenge. Just when you want to slow down a bit you discover you need to do so much more of the good things (log food, exercise) that you used to do before just to get back to where you were.

So glad I found this thread of conversation! I'm 58 and while I only have 20 or so stubborn pounds I want to lose I am also dealing with painful arthritis issues. I work out to strengthen my muscles and take strain off painful hip and back joints and monitor my nutrition to help me lose a few pounds and ensure I'm getting the proper nutrients I need to prevent the arthritis from getting worse! I'm just getting myself set up on MFP and looking for people to share the journey with! Look forward to getting to know some of you more!
  • I finally made it under 200 lbs....it has been over 25 years!
  • thanks! God bless you on your journey too!
  • 58 here. Have lost about 58# in the last 7 months, and looking to lose 50-55 more. Loss is going slower now and I need some inspiration/encouragement.

Hi everyone! I'm 49 (50 in October) and am trying to loose about 10 more lbs. I've found that at this age, all those little bad eating habits are coming back to haunt me. I can't be as careless as I used to be and MFP has been really helpful. Feel free to add me as a friend.

I'm in for giving and receiving support. :) I'm 53 and started my journey at 400 lbs. I'm now down to 253 this morning and DETERMINED to break that 250 mark...but it seems to be very elusive :) I agree that only women our age face the same stubborn poundage... I eat LC/HF and have tons of recipes if anyone eats that way. We shop the store perimeter and I make our own condiments to avoid the extra barrage of sugar/HFCS. Any diet buddies/support women out there just let me know! I've been doing this with the help of my significant other who is 10 years younger (another incentive) and he's lost almost all of his excess weight now so no pressure at all onme.....lolol. :) Have a super day all and remember WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Well, I cant figure out how to add friends (go figure!) so if anyone wants to add me, my email address is:
    laurakane1108@gmail.com

    Thanks for all the support!
  • Hi all

I am 58 years old and need to lose at least 4 stone. I have already had a hip replacement when I was 51 but now need a knee replacement due to arthritis. I have decided to try and put off surgery as long as possible and take the weight loss route and try and make my knee stronger by swimming and the work gym. Some of you have done brilliantly congratuations :) I know I will need some support and more than happy to support others.
  • Can anyone share what are next steps will be.....I am really exicited

How does one join this group? New and lost :D
  • I am just starting and could use some friends too. I lost 40 last year and got off track, ready to begin again. I am 52 , married for almost 30 years and trying to get in shape to be more active in the things I used to love like horse back riding and hiking.

I'm coming to you ladies here because someone may be in a similar situation and be able to offer some helpful advice. I'm having a horrible time dealing with a huge stresser in my life and I'm a stress eater..enough said? 5 months ago my boyfriend and I moved his grandmother in with us. At that time, she represented herself as healthy. Once we moved her in, she came to me and told me that she would need "a couple" of Dr's appointments set up. We 6 specialist later, we start getting the bigger picture. We cant let her drive because she totaled 2 cars in 2 months...thankfully without anyone getting hurt!. She just had a bout in the hospital and was discharged, now on Coumadin. She is typically non compliant with her meds, buys anything anyone says will "help", not matter what the drug interactions might be and hoards medications that she doesn't take anymore. There is also a grandson who constantly begs for money to the point where she sends so much that by the 16th of the month, she's out of money and sits in her room staring at the walls and miserable because she cant do the things she wants. She leaves messes all over the place and doesn't seem to care as well. We've talked to the grandson and to her about the financial situation but our feeling is she'll sneak it in somehow and she lies about everything (which is why we thought she was much healthier than she actually is).

I feel like I've lost my life and am reduced to being a maid/cook (wait, she doesn't LIKE anything we fix and spits food out on her napkin at the dinner table) taxi service.

I feel like I've lost me.
