Well, wouldn't you know it. I had every intention of working out yesterday evening, when a stomach virus hit me literally out of nowhere not long after dinner. I was SO disappointed and still not feeling the greatest... hoping this won't last long so I can get back to it. Just biding my time at the moment, taking care, nibbling on a cracker and sipping some tea. I may not reach the goals for this week, but I'll stick around anyhow, get as close as I can within reason depending on how I feel, and also look forward to next week's challenge. Best wishes to all of you!

I typically eat back all of my exercise calories, I think it's best to. It's hard sometimes, like when I work out later in the day and end up burning a lot then all of a sudden have like 700 extra calories I need to consume. I could always sit down with a bowl of ice cream to get the calories in, but they're empty and it kinda defeats the purpose. Then when I plan to burn a lot something happens and I don't get to then I've eaten too much for the day! UGH!0 -

I don't typically eat my exercise calories, but I've got quite a lot to lose. My doc has said to start eating some back once I hit "overweight" and slowly add more so by the time I get to maintenance I'm eating all of them.0 -

I was eating back my exercise calories but since I joined my gym they have been insane (evidence above) I think that MFP is greatly overestimating my calories burned so I'm going to start putting the calories burned the machine tells me since it's at least taking my heart rate most of the time. Definitely going to see a drop in my calories burned but I think it will be more accurate.0 -

You should invest in a heart rate monitor, TOTALLY worth the money. MFP typically UNDERestimates my calories burned (in comparison to what my HRM says) and so do the machines at my gym. With that said, holy smokes girl you're really working it out! Keep it up!0 -
Thanks for your replies, unfortunately it does not matter today as I have managed zero exercisse boy am I gonna have to go at it tomorrow!
I have arranged for an HRM from santa claus and I just cant wait to get my paws on it - I am a little apprehensive that I am going to find that I have not been doing as well as I thought but a little more accuracy has got to be good! (it is such a good job that it is well hidden coz I am terrible with delayed gratification I WANT IT NOW!

Another thing about the HRM, just to be clear, my experience with MFP and the gym equipment was just MY experience. I know other people who were getting accurate estimates from MFP and the gym equipment compared to their HRM. Just keep that in mind if you're fretting!

I eat back all of my calories that I burn, for the most part. I've been super hungry myself lately, damn TOM seems to do that to me every month! :mad: I try eating more protein when I get super hungry like that and it helps a little. Maybe you can try that.0 -
I was only eating about half of my exercise cals and was losing about 1.5 a wk. So, this week I ate majority of my exercise cals and lost 3.1 lbs. :noway: So, I'm going to do the same thing next week and see if I have the same results. Remember, you have to figure out what works for your body. So, try different things and see what gets the best results. Good Luck!0

As much as we "think" it wouldn't, eating less can sometimes hinder weight loss. If you're not eating the amount that your body needs it'll go in to starvation mode and hold on to what you have for dear life! :noway: Hence creating a non-moving scale! Sounds like you found what your body needs keep it up! :drinker:0
