zomg - I loved that scene in "Modern Family".

I think I literally snorted with laughter when they drive off and it looks like the toy gorilla is shagging the elephant...

    I agree.
  • 3 steps is too many for me... I'll stick with 2:

    1. Eat less
    2. Move more

If you need a 3rd step then add in eat gelato

A plan I can follow! What do I do with all of my raspberry ketones?:ohwell:

Seriously what are you bringing to the table with you "No" and "^This" ???....absolutely nothing.

She's referring to forcing the body into a ketosis
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosis

Do some reading before you just come in with a "No" or "wrong", hope you negative *kitten* people have made yourself feel a wee bit better with your negative comments.

Didn't you know that MFP really stands for "Mocking Fitness 'Pals'?" True story.

Clever gifs trump science any day of the week, right?

Oh my golly gee, you sure learned me!

Oh, wait, what's that? A gazillion other threads JUST like this one with responses that many of us have taken time and effort to type out to debunk this kind of shizz?

You don't need to force your body into ketosis to lose weight. Period.

    Do you feel better now?

Golly gee whiz, it's not shizz, it's science. It is widely accepted and known that ketosis doesn't necessarily produce weight loss. You have to have the right DNA and macros. There are obviously many different ways to lose weight. Ketosis is only one of them. And just because it isn't the one accepted by bro-science, doesn't mean it's nonsense.

Another of many studies supporting the way of eating.

    Cuz....SCIENCE.

This is for the thread and forum in general:
It's a logical fallacy to argue something is right just because it is popular, ignoring science. If it's not your thing, I'm cool with that. But it's immature and ridiculous to continually pounce and rip on people for having a different viewpoint than you. (Yep, I'm using the "Mom" voice.) That is a major issue here in the MFP sandbox. Low-carb isn't BS, it's legitimate, backed by science (real science), it works (obviously as I've lost 40lbs), and it is sustainable. I know people who lost all their weight on this way of eating and have maintained for over a decade. Some of them athletes.

Btw, for those of you who don't know, there are a bunch of different low-carb diets. Not all rely on ketosis. Some just dump the refined sugars and decrease the starches. Some are more hardcore like me and drop both completely altogether. Some dump it all and then slowly add a little back. It's an entirely reasonable approach. I don't understand the constant negative response. But humans are often prone to attack what they don't understand or what is strange to them. If you have evidence that it's bunk, real evidence, then fine, but you can't just say it's "dumb because you say so" or because some blogger dumped on it. Or because the "hive mind" tells you it's popular to oppose it.

How reality works is: You find what works for you, and you work it for all it's worth.
For me and others (whose opinions are as valid as anyone else's on here who don't follow this way of eating) low-carb is their baby. For everyone else? Well, they have their own perfect formulas don't they? This doesn't need to be a pissing contest. It's really pointless to constantly ridicule things that don't merit ridicule. Granted, that the OP didn't finish the post was funny, but I'm not going to bust a gut over it and then join the flood to mock her.

My diet's better than your diet! Homo sapiens. Thinking man.

We're all humans on here and are imperfect. Try to remember that. Stones and glass houses...and all that cliche.
It would be nice if the majority would refrain from excessive employment of high-school behavior. But that's too much to hope for.

The "underpants gnomes" bit was wonderfully inspired though. Still smirking at that one.

I only talk to humans. I don't speak spambot or troll. What they do with my post, I care not.
  • OP was probably talking about this recent study. There are figures and tables and graphs available but only to subscribers so kind of pointless to talk about the charts.

You should only refer to peer-reviewed gifs. Any other gifs could just be anecdotal.

No, you need to have a caloric deficit.
There are obviously many different ways to lose weight. Ketosis is only one of them. And just because it isn't the one accepted by bro-science, doesn't mean it's nonsense.

Once again, there is only ONE way to lose weight: caloric deficit. There are many strategies to achieve this, low-carb diets (ketogenic or otherwise) among them.

Another of many studies supporting the way of eating.
