C25K Starting Tomorrow (Dec- 27- 2010 Monday)

Options
One of my most dreaded thing in the gym is Treadmill. I could almost use all the other equipments expect for treadmill. I want to change this attitude. I got inspired from many success stories and finally want to start the C25K.

Please feel free to join. Let us keep motivated and encourage each other.

You will love it. I did it back in the Fall, and I managed to complete it. Some days are more challenging than others, but if you just stick with it, you will be amazed at how far you have come!

I would love to start this with you also.
I think it will be a challenge but achieveable even while traveling for business.

I am with you. Have completed 1 jog around the bus loop 4 times with a stop for water. I have been doing C25K off and on since this summer. Make sure you stretch real well. I am going to sign up for a 5K in February. Was going to run today but an arctic wind is blowing here in Florida.

    Good luck on running.:flowerforyou:

I'll start with you guys as well. There are some really great mixes online for c25k with the stops included appropriately. I have done it before and was impressed with the results but I gave up because I became lazy.

So here are some creative podcasts for our running

    Rock: http://runningintoshape.com/5k-training-downloads/

    Pop-Top40-R&B type stuff: http://gonicoleyourself.blogspot.com/2008/06/couch-to-5k-podcast-page.html

Hip-Hop-Pop-y-http://www.kissmyblackass.org/podcasts/ (I have used this one before!)

    Doesn't list the tracks: http://www.djsteveboy.com/1day25k.html

But apparently you can mix your own podcast in GarageBand for mac...I will try.

One of the things I really need to step up in 2011 is the exercise. OK>>> and monitoring that the fat numbers stay in the budget as well as the calories. What is this C25K???? I hop on the treadmill twice a week now but would be interested in doing more. A challenge sounds like fun. I'm terrified of injuring myself though so the stretching will be super critical. If someone who understands the C25K or has other good treadmill tips wants to "friend" me I'd be delighted for the support and the friendship :)

    Melody,

I found this C25K referencing in this site. It stands for Couch to 5 kilometers run. It is designed for beginners to get started without being dreaded. The pace is set that your body can slowly adjust to the changes. It recommends doing thrice a week. Certainly streches will be a good way to keep body toned. More information can be found in this link.

I just found this program online--this looks great! Count me in. I'm new to this site and exercising again but this looks like a great way to get started. Sunday is my lazy day so I will get started tomorrow.

I started this last week. I'm actually going to do each week as two weeks, so it's going to end up taking me 18 weeks instead of 9. Personally I find the pace from week to week a bit too fast and I'm more comfortable slowing it up a bit.

I am / will be doing it on a treadmill at the gym. 1.0 incline, 3.5-3.7 mph walking speed, 5.0 mph jogging speed.

I attempted the C25K a couple months ago. When I began my first day, I started getting terrible pains in the front of my calves/shins about 1/4 of the way through the program. I stretched really well before starting, I was not going that fast (maybe the pace of a fast walk), and it felt like someone put their hand inside my shins and began ripping my muscles away.

I have tried to fight through the pain on several occasions and was told that the pain is from the calf muscles separating from the bone (or something about shin splints). I really, truly, sincerely want to get to the point where I can comfortably run a 5K, but my body just does not want anything to do with it.

Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated :)
