The Consistency Thread

This is inspired by the consistency threads at some language learning forums I follow*. We have here, on MFP, the "number of days logged" counter which supports that - this thread tracks beyond that, something that also holds for any type of goals.
Consistency is also important in fitness and weight management, so set a goal and aim to achieve it!
Consistency is the key: pick a goal and try to reach it as many days as you can. Every day that you manage to reach your goal, add a number to the count. If you miss a day, go back to 0 and start again the next day.
As long as your goal is something you can measure, it doesn't matter how exactly! You can count minutes of exercise, days lifting, days calories are green, days on plan, even .. gasp, days of eating "clean" (if that is your thing) ... Anything will do! Flexible goals like "exercise for 4 days a week" are allowed, you just need to track your days.
You can set your goal only for weekdays, only for the weekends, for every other day etc. When you really need to, you can also substitute your goal for something comparable, for no more than three days at a time. You should plan in advance.
It is generally easier to plan and deliver on short term goals - planning and doing 30 days of an exercise plan is less daunting than doing 6 month. But once you have a streak going, one is less likely to want to break it. Who wants to lose a 200 day streak?
This is not meant to be an extremely long-term challenge. Goals change and that's fine! This means you're making progress. Inactive goals will be listed as completed unless you consider your goal dropped/failed.
Now on to the technical details. Starting from the next post in this thread, all posts should contain a list of goals. When updating your goals, please use the quote function - don't copy, or the bolding will be lost. Erase everything that's not between the two lines of tildes - ~~~~~~~
You can also write anything you want after these lines - announcing your new goal, describing what exactly you did, congratulating other members on their achievements etc. If you have a question, are dropping a goal etc, you still need to quote the latest post, even if you aren't adding anything new.
Don't worry about making more than one post in a row. Please avoid editing, as someone else may quote your original post. If you keep the thread open for a long time, please refresh before posting.
If you drop a goal, please do others a favor and come here to remove yourself from the list. You will be removed after about a week of not updating - if you are taking a break, please announce it and reset your number to zero.
Be sure to keep track of your goals as you complete them; they will be listed along the thread.

My training plan is 3 days gym & 3 days running and a planned day off. I consider I hit my consistency goal if I completed the days planned activity.0 -

I hope I'm doing this correctly, but I'm excited to start something like this. I haven't been very consistent lately.
I need to work towards my next belt test, so I'll consider my goal achieved when (a) I go to class (twice a week), (b) train with my partner (usually once a week), or (c) do at least 10 katas a day on all other days.
[quick question: can we have multiple goals?]0 -

Of course you can have multiple goals. Btw, daily kata training sounds great. Hope 30 days shows results!0 -

I hope so too! Thank you for organizing this! :flowerforyou:
I'm very tempted to try the language version as well... but one step at a time... I added a calorie goal, I'll assume I hit it when I'm up to +/- 100kcal from my MFP limit (I'm above it already, starting tomorrow).0 -

My goal is to improve my sleep by A) inducing darkness especially not being on computer or phone between 10-7, and getting at least 15 min of light in the morning (sunlight or therapy light).0 -

Again, this is a GREAT IDEA. I wanted to post my goals. I schedule a week of workouts at the start of the week. My workouts include a combination of weights/cardio. Goal one is to complete each workout as scheduled. Goal two is to limit consumption of sugar. For this week, that would be Ben and Jerry's and baked goods.0 -

updated my day - I had a 4hour training today that takes place once a month with all the dojos of our ryuha. It was fun but intense - I'm very proud that I made it through. My food on the other hand was a a bit of a mess, so I'm restarting the counter. This goal will be hard to achieve.0 -

Five days is a personal record for me. This thread has really helped me stay motivated. If I have a scheduled day off, how do I record my working out status? I didn't miss the day, yet I didn't work out. Leave the number the same?0 -
if a day off is part of your plan, then you are on plan. Record the day, it's a freebee. The idea of consistency is staying on plan, not driving yourself crazy.
