Shreddin' Eleven, Week One

For those of you who showed interest in joining me and my sister-in-law on starting 30 Day Shred TODAY, here is our first weekly thread for daily discussion, progress reports, support, encouragement, and tips & advice!!! Come back as often as you wish to keep everyone updated as to your progress, successes, difficulties, and triumphs.
I just finished Day 1 of the Shred, and I have to say that it was as intense as the reviews claimed. Part of me was still in the mindset of "I can't" -- but, I refused to given in to that voice this time. I knew I was fully capable of sticking with Level 1 Day 1, and lo & behold, I DID IT!! Twenty minutes seemed to go by in a flash. LOVE this workout and I just know I'll stick with it each morning, no more excuses!!!

I'm going to start my this afternoon, we have a time difference. But I just wanted to let you know that I'm still in and I'll post what my thoughts are after I give it a try.

Sweet!!! I'll be taking measurements today and posting results on here to keep track of my weekly progress. My weigh-ins are generally on Monday and Thursday mornings, so I will keep with these days for this challenge as well. Everyone is more than welcome to keep track of their progress through this discussion as well!0 -
All I can say is WOW!! Can't believe I made it through. Can feel it for sure! It was tough, but I did the best I could do through it and feel accomplished that I actually did it!0

That's the idea!!! It doesn't matter what fitness level you're at, Jillian makes it easy enough that you can still get through it, and offers no way for you to make any excuse for yourself -- I love it!0 -

I just finished day 1 of the Shred....it was tough towards the end...I didn't stop until it was over.
I can see were this is going to help me. I also took a pic today in my tight workout clothes....so I will be able to tell a difference.
I think everyone should take a before & then when we are through the whole thing a after pic....We should look FABULOUS!!0 -

I think you have a great idea here!! Before/After photos plus the measurements/weigh-ins will definitely help to keep us all going and see GREAT results!!0 -
I'm in Chandra! I had started it but then moved on to Insanity. Now I'm not allowed to do Insanity after my tendonitis issue so I'm going to restart the shred! Will mostly be doing my workouts in the evenings...so will get started tonight! I'm going to do some other supplemental workouts as well but will keep tabs here!0

Just finished Ladies and what a workout. So my results with my HRM is 252 calories burned. What a workout!
I feel awesome, glad to have you all along for the journey. Lets SHRED this year. I also took before pics today and I took my measurements today as well. Does everyone else want to share that too?0 -
Started the shred today and man, kicked my butt! Loved every minute of it though, looking forward to keeping up with it along with some other exercises in between!0

Well done!!! I have my before picture, but haven't gotten measurements yet. I'm going to have to go out tomorrow and get a tape measure to actually do the measurements -- turns out we don't have one!0 -

I have replied to other threads, but I will join this discussion, too. I started two days ago, but plan on doing it until the end of January.
I have to preface my review by saying that I have been doing Zumba religiously since August and then added Kettleworx the end of October.
After three days my armpit area is the only part that's a little sore because of the pushups. I'm doing much better on the jumping jacks. I'm a little worried that I'm not burning as many calories as I do w/ Zumba and therefore won't lose as much weight. I'm willing to give it a try.

I am house sitting for a friend, and brought everything that I needed, so it's on.0 -
Sorry, I worked for the holiday so ended up sleeping all day and couldn't get the kids off their video games to save my life. I'm actually going to the gym in the morning so will most likely start then as a finisher to my morning workout.0

I just finished mine for the day. I also took some before shots. Hope they are worth the embarrassment with the end result! :happy:0

Sounds like you've got a great start already!! Cross training with various exercises/strength training is good overall, so maybe you won't burn as many calories with the Shred as you might with Zumba, but you're still getting a great strength/abs workout with the Shred. Good luck to you, too!!0 -

I did my first day today too. Holy cow, did it ever get my heart rate up! I also managed to work up quite a nice sweat! I really liked how it kept changing activities so it didn't dwell too long on any one particular move. A couple of the exercises I was like, "Oh no, not this one again" though! LOL A couple of the cardio moves that were hard the first time, I was surprised that by the third time around, they felt easier! Hmph. But make no mistake though, I felt like I got my @ss properly kicked by Jillian today.
My calves were fine through this workout and I don't think they'll give me any troubles here in the beginning since I've been running regularly for quite some time. My quads just above the knee, however, might be another story. I really felt it in my quads. They were a little crampy during the workout and I felt them the couple times I went up & down the stairs in our house shortly after finishing the video.
All I had for handweights in the house were 20lb dumbbells which would obviously be far too heavy and some 1-pounders that I used which turned out to be too light for me. I might have to go back to WalMart and pick up the JM handweight set which comes with pairs of I think it was 2, 3, and 5 pounders.
Heheh -- I made my 11yr old son do it with me. I said, go change clothes and put some shorts on. He said, "Why?" and I said, "You'll see." He's pretty athletic so he was able to do a lot more than I was, but he still worked up a sweat too. Secretly, I was glad he joined me so I didn't have to do it alone. I don't know if he'll do it with me every time, but maybe once in a while.0 -
Third day doing it and I feel much better!
Does it matter if I workout at different times of day? I have kind of a weird work week.0
