Evening/Night time snack

What does everybody eat for a night time snack before bed? Some good ones I can think of are tuna and crackers, peanut butter and crackers, chicken and brown rice. Anybody got any other suggestions that are quick and easy??

Your snack must you have one at night, can consist of what you enjoy but calorie conscious. I sometimes, have, popped corn, oatmeal, an apple, fiber one 90 calorie brownie, a square of dark chocolate. There are limitless options.

Gelato, ice cream, cookies, baked goods.... one of those is typically my night time snack.
  • I sleep better on an empty stomach, but if I feel like snacking which is rare, I go for fruit or, oatmeal

^This. As long as it fits your macro and calorie goals, you can eat anything you want. Before bed, I always have anywhere between 1/2 pint to a pint of ice cream with other goodies tossed in.

Popcorn (100 cal mini bag), carrot sticks, cereal, yogurt
  • I just ate Korean style bean sprouts, my girlfriend brought them over . I couldn't refuse. Not only is it rude to Asians but they are insanely delicious and I had 0 willpower

If I am hungry I'll have Greek yogurt with whatever tossed in. Personally I cannot sleep if I am hungry.

I get home very late- so it's not so much "snack time" but it's my last meal of the day.

Typically I'll eat popcorn- b/c I'm tired and lazy- but I'm not above eating bacon and eggs for dinner.

But recently it's just been popcorn and then ice cream about 45 min later.

Gelato, popcorn, cookies, chips, cake. .. whatever I want, really. I just portion it out. I actually like using a big chunk of my calories for evening snacks.

Fruit, plain popcorn, soya yoghurt, jelly/jello, veg sticks & hummus, fruit & nut bar - those are the main ones, although I'm limited due to food intolerances.

The original Fudgesicle is only 40 calories. I find it a great reward after my evening work out. & it makes me feel like a kid again. :) Otherwise maybe the 60 calorie jello mousse cup. Its usually my one sweet treat of the day.

I always have what I've considered "dessert" food for nighttime snacks: generally a serving of Breyer's ice cream or an ice cream sandwich. Sometimes cake or pie if I made some for an occasion and have leftover. Very occasionally I go for a banana split with the Breyer's, homemade whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and a large banana, but that is on high energy days where I have the room in my calories and macros.

is eating popcorn, cookies, chips, cake etc not bad for you, even if you are within you calorie goal because it contains lots of sugar and sat fats i.e. the bad macros??

You can get plain popcorn, the sort you pop in the microwave or in a pan, that doesn't have sugar added. You can also get low-calorie ready-made bags of popcorn that are under 100 calories, so not bad as a treat. I wouldn't have it everyday, I tend to swap and change.

As long as what you eat fits into your goals (and limitations) based on your overall fitness plan and any medical conditions you may have, then there is no problem with sugar or saturated fats.

Also, Strictly speaking, sugar itself isn't a macro, it is a carb. Same with saturated fats - it is a type of fat, but not a macro in itself.

Cheers ill check that out, been looking to find a decent yogurt with good protein content but the majority of them in the supermarkets (in the UK) seem have loads of sugar in them

Thanks for this, I was assuming that you should avoid sugar and sat fats as much as possible. That should help
