"If every day were like today... You'd weigh 107.0 kg in 5 weeks "

I got this almost 5 weeks ago - and I've been slightly under my goal calories almost every day (except for 4 days)

Feb 7
I'm still 112.5kg.
5.5kg / 12lb in 5 weeks.
It said - If every day were like today... You'd weigh 107.5 kg in 5 weeks

Not complaining, I'm happy with the weight loss - but why did it say I'd be 107, 5 weeks ago, and still saying 107, 5 weeks from now?

I'm just wondering if the website is over estimating the "If every day were like today...." message.

Any ideas would be most appreciated - thanks!

It's best to completely ignore that message. It's more of a "feel good" type of thing when you are at or under your goals, and a warning type of message when you go over. It's not really meant to be taken as "if you do this exercise and eat exactly this then you will weight this" cause there's A LOT of other factors at play.
  • Update your current weight by clicking on "weigh in" on the left on your page. Once it has your current weight, it will give you an updated prediction of 5 weeks from now. I was getting frustrated with that too, and then when I put in my new weight on Sunday I realized that's why it was still giving me the same in 5 weeks, I hadn't let the system know what I had lost so far.

Good job so far, you're doing great :)

That message is based on averages of people's weight loss. Your results may vary because you may lose more or less than that depending on your body type, your metabolism and your genetics.

I don't think takes an actual date into consideration. This is what you would loose if you calculated any given day out 5 weeks.

I've noticed that I can have exactly the same number of net calories from one day to the next, but if I burned more during exercise, SAME NET, it will tell me I'm going to be up to 2 pounds less in 5 weeks. I don't have a clue what it uses to calculate that number, but I completely ignore it.
  • I just did this and it didn't give me an updated prediction? It just posted it on my wall...

Click "finish" again on the food diary (or whatever it says... the green button at the bottom) and it'll update your prediction.
  • Yup, did that and it's still predicting the same weight loss as I was 5 weeks ago.

Anyway - I guess it's just a feel good motivational estimate as someone said... MFP still works regardless. :)
