I'm so happy that Michigan didn't make the list. We, unfortunately, seem to be a main fixture on the 'Fattest States' list.

Stole the words right out of my mouth!!!

I'm pretty shocked that Maryladn wasnt on the list. But since it was talking about unhealthy foods only I guess I can see it. Now if we were talking about a "FAT LIST" we'd probably be near the top right under Pennysylvania. no pun intended. (oh geography humor- yes i'm a dork)

This article also takes into account how many healthy food stores are located within a certain area and the amount of soda consumed. I think Maryland gets saved by being so close the DC. The MD/DC Metro region is filled with options for biking riding, farmer's markets and what not. Its really not as bad as it seems in my opinion, but who knows.

@DeeDee, I expected my beloved home state to be high on that list too (Louisiana). I lived in MS for 6 years while in college, so that doesn't surprise me...especially after eating my fair share of Ward's Big One's with Chili and Cheese!

I am surprised that Tennessee did not make the list at all... Not really surprised by the other states. Not AT ALL surprised that Alabama and Mississippi are in the top realm. You can get anything, and I do mean ANYTHING deepfried there....

I'm surprised that South Carolina isn't on the list. Just like Ga, we have sweet tea, Krispy Kreme, and every fried or cooked in lard vegetable there is!

Really surprised my state didn't make it to the top ten... Myrtle Beach, SC is known for the "all you can eat" buffets. Use to be there was a gas station at every corner, now it is a Buffet or Fast Food at every corner...

    :)

I believe it buffet, buffet, buffet, you don't get anything in the mail without a casino sending coupons to get you in.
