Hi all! Wow the thread has been busy. Wasn't that way a while ago but it is fun! Give me some time to "get to know" all of you!
Amy--pb cups are my weekness too--however it can be anything pb for me. I often "give" treats like that to my daughter to hide for me. She is really good about putting it where I cannot find it & then when I ask she will bring it out. That helps me "forget" about them because I put them in the unavailable category. She's 14 so she won't eat them w/o asking so that helps!
Katie--it is true there is not much difference after 3 to add on more. I have four(19, 14, 12, 8) and we regularly trade date nights with friends who also have 4 and have since the littlest were babies. It is chaos but they really do keep each other entertained. Besides the shock value of telling people you have 8 kids in your house is fun.
Okay so did good with the water yesterday--7 cups I think. Stayed w/in my new calorie limit too. Yeah!
Today I am off to the grocery store. Feels wimpy to count that as my exercise but I am trying to not let it bother me. Packed a good snack. Little man is feeling much better & I am waiting to see if anyone else comes down with it.
Eat smart!

Good Afternoon SAHM's....I am so glad Valentine's day is also over as well...The chocolate and candy, the dinner....I have to hand it to my husband he didn't temp me with any of that...I think, he thought he was lettiing me down, not buying the chocolates and candy....We did a nice dinner with very close friends Saturday night, couple glasses of wine and then yesterday was a beautiful card and flowers from him and my 4yr old and 9yr old....To me simple is perfect...I am not one that needs all the extra's....And I was very happy with it....
Back at it this week.... This is week 2 for me, taking a Body Pump Class......Anyone else try Body Pump? I love it! I do alot of cardio, and have been doing little weight training on my own, to tone....But not on a schedule, body pump is 3 times a week, burn some nice calories, and I still get in my cardio...i just feel like finially my workouts are complete.... Would love to know what you think of the body pump class if anyone else is taking them......0 -
Amanda ~ Congrats!!
Hey skinnyjeans
Holly ~ I know someone stationed there! And I have a friend from Council Bluffs, been through there quiet a few times. When I lived in OK, had to pass through to get to ND
AJ ~ Congrats on losing inches!! I actually like that better than losing the pounds...must be because I've been stuck at the same weight since last March or something like that haha!
Bina ~ That's one of the perks of being military, every one else is in the same boat..no family around, etc, that we all chip in and help when we can. One of Alex's school friends mom's is looking for baby sitting jobs as well (her hubby has been unemployed for months) so I call her in every now and then to help out. It's nice to not have to rely on teens for a change!
Katie ~ LOLLOL!! You make me laugh..but seriously, there is no way I could handle more than two..you impress me! And how awesome about the a HRM?? WohoO!!
Cole ~ I've done Body Pump a couple times and really enjoyed it! There aren't any here thoughSo I go to the gym and lift arms MWF and legs TTH. I really enjoy adding in the weight lifting, I feel more complete too
I caved and had a chicken nugget today, and 2 mini bite sized snickers...oops!
Tonight's dinner is actually going to be healthy, so it'll even itself out in the end!0 -
Kim~I have to completely agree with you on the shock value! My all time "high" is 13 children at my house at one time. Yep call me crazy it was actually fun too. That was when I was prego with my 7th so I had my 6 plus my friends 4 and then my oldest had a friend, his friends sister and her friend. That night I even made dinner for all of them. I was pretty darn impressed with myself. However I regularly have 11 children at once. I watch another friends children for her for a couple of hours every couple of weeks. My fav thing to do for laughs is to go to the grocery store with the whole family and watch people stare at us as we walk past. There are a few people that are courageous enough to ask if they are all ours. Love to see their reaction when I say YEP every one of them is mine. Their eyes about pop right out of their heads.
Katie~I always thought the same thing about handling more than 1. I guess someone "upstairs" thought different. Seriously though once you get past 3, call me crazy, it does get "easier" they all entertain each other.
Welcome clcloe!0 -
Hey everyone!!
I hit an important milestone today-45lbs lost!!!
So about 35lbs left to my 150lbs goal (though I'm 5'10" so that goal weight may go to 140lbs or 160lbs, depending on how I look).
And yesterday my baby turned 2 months old.
Congrats on the 45 lostFeels awesome, doesn't it.
So today, one of my girlfriends text me and asked me and a couple of our other friends, to meet her for lunch at Flat Top Grill. The food was awesome!! I loved it. If any of you don't have one, its a create your own stir fry restaurant. Here's their website to check out, http://flattopgrill.com/
Even had to bring some home, so tonight for dinner I'll be having my second bowl that I didn't get to at lunch today, so no cooking for me tonight.0 -

man! I was so busy today! I'm drinking two glasses of wine and I'm still under in calories! I made 132 stuffed shells for dinner exchange tomorrow night (best part, they are only 85 cals, 3g of fat a piece! 5 @ 425 cals with a side of veggies makes for a fantastic dinner!!)
Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful night, tomorrow might be another busy day for me!0 -
whoa.....lots of chattin
i just got caught up.
welcome back kim
and welcome to the new ladies. don't feel overwhelmed by all the talkin going on. some weeks are quieter. plus, this should be encouraging and fun for you--not a chore. so read what you can/want when you can and be good with that.
did not exercise today. katiem--got your msg re: abs. good plan! i'm doing pretty well with exercise but want to get to 5 days consistently. this week i'm supposed to start the strength parts of p90x this week. we'll see as today i skipped it all.
and didn't bother logging.
i was on the go from 4:45am till 5pm. exceptional day. dd1 shadowed another kid at a private school we are considering for her for grades 6,7,8 . she had such a good time! but it is a long drive (45min each way)--we will just have to figure out how to make it work. dh will take her most mornings so it's just the afternoon. and my mil, whom i cherish, suggested having a teen come by after school to be with the little ones while i do pick up duty. that also lets dd1 catch me up on her day w/o all of them competing for my attn.
house update: tonight the deal was finalized. the appraisal came back much lower than the original price and they were trying to get out of lowering the price. we made it clear that we would only pay up to the appraisal amt or we would walk. this is a buyer's market right now in vegas. and while i LOVE the house, i love our money/cash even more!
they agreed to the lowered price, dh signed off on it
we close mar 18th and move sometime after (in parts as the new house is just 1.5mi away). kwim?
thanks for all the well wishes!
ok...need to get offline. later--:flowerforyou:0 -
I went to my MOPS meeting tonight, and I'm proud to say that even though the cupcakes looked heavenly and the chicken sandwiches smelled fantastic, and everything was sitting less than a foot to my left, I didn't indulge. I ate my dinner before we left so I knew exactly how many calories I was consuming, and I didn't have anything at the meeting. I felt a little guilty about it because I feel like the girl went to all that trouble, but I held my ground and nobody said anything. For tomorrow morning's meeting though (we have 2 groups and I go to both because I'm in the leadership team) I'm budgeting some free cals so I can have something. Since I won't be home for my normal morning snack, I'll look for some fruit or something that I can eat.
On an unrelated note, we keep getting calls from telemarketers after 9 pm. It's the same number every time. I just got another one. I yelled at the lady this time, and I feel bad, but they keep doing it! I told her to take us off their list. When we moved we forgot to put our new number on the Do Not Call list, so my husband just did it last week. Hopefully these calls will die down in a couple of weeks. We seriously get a dozen a day. Argh!0 -

SkinnyJeans - your username makes me laugh! I have 27 lbs of baby weight to go, and that's after losing 9 already!! Slow and steady, we'll get there0 -
Kim~ I am so going to use that one! I told my hubby about it and he laughed. I would love to see their faces go red.:blushing:
Stacey~I would love to get to actual exercise rather than logging my custodial work as exercise. On those days that I actually exercise and then do the custodial work though my butt is whooped. That is why I was thinking I would try just doing the abs on three days, maybe I won't get so tired. Can't say that I blame you for not accepting the amount they want. I wouldn't even if it was a seller's market just stupid to accept to pay more than the house is worth imho. Congrats on the new house hope the loan goes smoothly for you.
Aj~Way to go on staying away from the goodies.:drinker: I also hate those stupid telemarketers calling. You should tell them this "do you realize that you are calling me after 9pm and that is illegal?" See what kind of reaction you get.
Body is very tired got to go get some sleep.0 -
Thanks guys.
I'm really happy. After my first son I couldn't break through 190 and am now at 184. Still a lot of work to go. My husband is supposed to be able to come home for a week here in a week or so so I'm excited about that and hoping to be close to the 170s by then. He better notice!!! (he's been gone since July 2010, but came home on emergency leave over Christmas when our first son had a seizure)
0 -
Hey girls! The results are in, I am down 3.5lbs for my zig zagging efforts! I'm in shock! I posted the breakdowns on my blog: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/katapple I'm going to do it another week and see if I can break out of the 140s for once
I went back and looked at my previous weigh-ins and 141 is the lowest for me, broke the record by .5! Yay! I've also lost 1" on waist, .5 on hips, .5 each thigh since the beginning of January!
AJ Congrats on being strong!! I never am whenI go to meetings LOL I hate telemarketer calls! ugh!0 -
Happy Hump Day mom's.....
Well, my nerves haven't been bad all week, but woke up this morning and realized that tomorrow I am going in and have 2 procedures done, nothing major but enough to get my nerves up a bit....lol I plan on hitting the gym this morning, maybe a little cardio will help them....lol
katapple....Congrats!!! Makes all the hard work we do so worth it, when we hit a milestone like that ..Thats Awesome!!!.....lol
Would love that stuff shells recipe..........Sound like that would be a great dinner for the whole family !!!
Have a great Wednesday mom's.....0 -
Hi there!!
I am a SAHM to a 9 year old girl (her birthday today! ) and a 7 year old boy. I have those last stubborn 10 pounds to lose to get to a normal BMI. I have found the calorie recommendations to lose 0.5 pound per week a little strict. Especially since I can only make it to the gym 2-3 times per week. Any advice would be much appreciated. I look forward to getting to know all of you!!
BTW, Katie, your boys are just gorgeous!!0 -
 The peanut butter cups called last night and............I answered  the turtles called too so I had to eat three of them to get them to be quiet. :brokenheart:0
-
Katie~ I'd love to know what is in those stuffed shells. 85 cals, that's awesome. I had a similar day, I had desert and was still under 1200 calories yesterday, figured one day (esp. the day after Valentine's day) wouldn't hurt me. Congrats on the loss, 3.5 is awesome!
Stacey~ Congrats on the house & good luck with the move. Natural exercise.
AJ~ Good job on the treats! I made it through the Valentine's parties at school and 2 dance classes without any. Willpower!!
So, I am down 2 lbs. this week. Exactly what I wanted so not sure why I am not jumping up and down? Maybe after I do measurements tomorrow I'll gain some momentum. I'll be adding additional extra cardio in with my BL Boot Camp DVD starting this weekend. I really can't believe I have one day left and I'll have worked out 30 days straight, definitely a first here.
Have a great day!0 -
workout done.
now to get ready for the day. tho ;probably should feed kids first. later
oh! congrats katie and bina on the losses!!0 -
Katie~WOOHOO! I am thinking that maybe I will try the zig zagging. I have been at a kind of stand still for a little while.
clcole~Hope the exercise works to calm the nerves.
Welcome chaimamma!
Amy~I know that you might not find it to be funny but you really made me laugh with how you said that. I know what you mean about food talking to you. I have learned though after MANY stomach problems that it is just not worth it to give in.:flowerforyou:
Bina~Way to go on the 2 lb loss! Do those measurements too. It will help you to feel even better.
Stacey~Great job! I just can't seem to bring myself to go do those abs. I am so flipping exhausting from yesterday my body is tired. I hope that I get used to this cleaning soon.
Update on MIL I talked to her last night and she says she for sure wants to do it. I told her how me and the hubby felt about it and what are thoughts are and then told her she needed to find out for herself if it was right. She told me she knew it was. So if all goes well she will be coming up this Friday. I also told her that when we don't hear from her for a couple of days that we are nervous wrecks so she needs to keep us updated on what is going on down there until she moves up here. I suggested that she talk to some people that go to her church and see if they would be willing to help her move her stuff here and if not see if there was a members house she could keep it at, bring only the necessities, and go back for the rest another day. Yes I feel like the situation is bad enough to warrant for this kind of move. Every day that goes by that we didn't hear from her and she isn't here I get more and more nervous. The guy is a dang dirt bag. If I had a truck and trailer I would have been down there packing up her stuff already and bringing her up here. Anyways enough rambling. Hope you all have a good day.0 -
Hello ladies! Wow! I wasn't on here over the weekend and Valentine's day and I miss a lot!
I'm proud of myself right now. My parents were here for my daughter's birthday. They left yesterday morning, so I had them drop me off at work before they left. I then walked from work to the school to pick up the kids. Then walked to the house with them. According to the Cardiotrainer app on my phone, I walked 2.5 miles and burned 222 cals.  I'm sure I burned more than that because I had my laptop with me. I have one of those backpack style cases for it. Those things aren't light! I was so happy with how I did that I had my hubby drop me off at work on his way to work, and I'm doing it again today. This time I'm hoping to leave on time which would allow me to stop at the house first and drop off the purse and laptop.0 -
Well, I left work in time to get back to the house and drop my backpack and purse off before heading to the school. I barely had time for that. I ended up walking 3.2 miles in 54 minutes and burning 289 calories!!!!    It's supposed to be nice again tomorrow, so I'm going to do this again!0
-
Amy - Great Job, sounds like a great routine!!
Bina - Congrats on the 2lb. loss, that's fantastic!!
Katie M - LOL, I always pay with a tummy ache later. Always reminds me of the college kid that drinks to much and promises never to drink again if only the room would stop spinning. Yep, that's me.
Sophie - Welcome
Clcole - Good luck with your procedures tomorrow, hope you were able to relax during your workout.
Katie - The zig zag plan sounds great, congrats on your loss this week.
AJ - Tell them you are on the Do Not Call list and if they call again you will press charges, that should get them to leave you alone. We had ADT hounding us and hubby finally told them that between our three pit bulls and shotguns we didn't need an alarm system, hahahaha, the guy was silent and then said, no sir, it doesn't sound like you do. BTW, we don't have three pit bulls or shotguns.
Stacey - Congrats on the new house!!! Vegas is still on my "places to visit" list. We thought our friends would get married there but they keep saying they need to save more money. It's been 3 years soooo at this rate we'll be getting a senior discount by the time they tie the knot.
It is so nice out and I'm going to take the littles on a walk after the littlest little wakes up. He's been fighting sleep so I'm gonna let him nap as long as he needs to. I can't handle any more grumpy pants. Hope everyone is having a beautiful day.

quick post for you!
Stuffed shells:
* 1 (12 ounce) package jumbo pasta shells
* 1 can fire roasted tomatoes, drained
* 3-5 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 small onion, chopped
* 1 pound ground turkey (93/7)
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
* 1 cup low fat ricotta
* 1 cup low fat cottage cheese (you could use all cottage cheese if you want)
* 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese ( I think I only used 1.5 cups and I tripled the recipe LOL)
* 1 (32 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
* 1 (8 ounce) package mozzarella cheese, shredded
* Italian seasoning and dried basil
* 1 gallon zip lock bag
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. Set aside in warm water.
3. In a large skillet saute garlic and onions. Add ground turkey, italian seasoning, basil, salt, and pepper to taste, and cook until evenly brown. Remove from heat, and stir in spinach, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and Parmesan cheese.
4. Put filling mixture in the zip lock bag and cut a whole about the size of a dime for piping into shells
5. Stuff the cooked shells with the mixture (you should be able to close the shell around the stuffing), and place in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with spaghetti sauce, and sprinkle top with mozzarella cheese.
6. Cover with foil, and bake in preheated oven 30 minutes, uncover for last 10 to brown the cheese
**********This isn't the exact recipe I entered in the recipe tool on here, so the cal count might be different, just and FYI!**********0 -
Good Morning Mom's........Well today I woke up with a few more butterflies in my belly. I don't know if any of you mom's have had this done, but I am going in today and am having a Endometrial Ablation and a procedure thats called Essure, its like getting my tubes tied with out the cutting and all the risks that come along with getting your tubes tied... I know I'll be fine, but the butterflies in my belly must of not have gotten that memo yet....lol
My husband is a teacher/coach and at first wasn't able to be with me through this and I we live 8 hrs away from any grandma or grandpa that could help out....But I am very lucky to have a siser in law that lives an hour away and didn't think twice about taking the day off and coming to help me out..... I will not be able to drive myself home, obviously, and she's going to stick around to help with the kids... To get back to my husband, he has a basketball game this evening that was suppose to be for tomorrow night, but for some reason, last minute changed it to tonight.....So he is able to take a 1/2 day and be with me, but as soon as its done, he'll have to get back to school and get on a bus with his team.....
So, this morning, I am taking time to pick the house up and make dinner for tonight, so my SiL doesn't have to worrry about any of that....When she gets back from running my daughter to dance, we'll just be able to through dinner in the oven and be set....lol
katapple.......can't wait to make those stuff shells, they sound so yummy.....And that is something my kids will eat without question...lol
Have a good Thursday mom's........0 -
I forgot to add that I put the ricotta and the cottage cheese in the food process to blend and get the cottage cheese chunks out0
-
clcole522-I hope your surgery today goes smoothly. Make sure you rest up and don't try to do too much. It's great that you have a SIL is ready and willing to help you out.
Nothing much to report from yesterday. I took the day off from exercise as I did cardio and lifted weights Monday and Tuesday and didn't want to over do it. I ate more calories then usual yesterday though and it paid off I am now in the 130's just barely but there none the less!! I am going to the gym today then taking the kids to the forest for a hike through the forest since we are supposed to have near record highs today. We have a few more days of warmth then Sunday it's back to a chance of snow..blah. I'm ready for spring.0 -
Cat, good luck with your surgery today! I would be nervous too, but I'm sure everything's going to go just fine.
Take care of yourself, and let us know how it goes!
Katie, those sound delicious! My kids would NOT eat them, but I'm filing it away for when they're older and dinnertime isn't such a battle.
Holly, woo hoo! Go you! I can't wait to join you in the 130's.We're totally going outside in this beautiful weather later.
I've been struggling with perspective, both in this arena of health and weightloss and in my daily living. Yesterday at MOPS our mentor mom shared a website with us, www.mannaformoms.com. It's definitely Christian-based, so if that's not your cup of tea I wouldn't recommend it, but I've found some really good stuff on there to help me maintain perspective. I thought maybe some of you guys might like it as well.
Yesterday was my "rest day," and boy, did I ever rest! I didn't get any exercise other than a walk with the kids, and then I took a NAP! But I feel much better today. And this morning the sun is streaming through my front window, and I got to sleep in a little bit, and the kids aren't fighting -- I think today will be a good day. Now watch, I probably just jinxed myself. We're going to take a walk later, and probably eat our lunch outside on the porch. It's supposed to be cold again tomorrow, so I want to soak up this sunshine as much as possible! I'm also going to *try* to cut back my computer time today and see if things go better. My computer chair is like a magnet, and I've struggled with it for a long time. Now being on here and logging all my food gives me another reason to keep coming back, but today I'm going to try to stay away from the forums for the most part, stay off Facebook, and not compulsively check my email. Nothing is that important that it can't wait until evening.
Have a great Thursday everybody! Getting closer to the weekend!0 -
Well for those of you that are enjoy the warmth...it snowed here 6" in a few short hours. So enjoy that warmth while you can. Especially if it is predicted to get stormy. We weren't 'suppose' to get 6" it was only suppose to be a few. It is good for the water supply but seriously that just sucked to be teased with some nice spring weather and then BAM here have some more snow. Okay rant over.
I tried the new HRM last night while I was cleaning....well I was so excited to try it out I forgot to start the stopwatch so it didn't calculate my calories burned. :frown: I was really going fast too. At one point I looked at my watch and it said my heart rate was 142. Got to go take kids to school. Chat later.0 -
Katie, it's supposed to get crappy here again next week. I'm just happy the warm weather is lasting so long this time -- all our snow will be melted so when it starts up again we won't be buried. Bummer about forgetting to start your HRM! You'll get into the routine of using it soon enough though. I do'nt think I said before, but that is so AWESOME that your hubby got that for you! What a sweetie.
I just super-cleaned two rooms of my house, and you can bet your bippy I'm gonna count some of it for exercise. My heart was pumping! I have more to do, but it won't be as strenuous so I won't count that. As soon as the kids finish their lunch we're going to go for our walk, which will be counted, and then I have my Sports Active workout this afternoon -- I'm actually concerned that I won't be able to eat enough today! Busy busy! Ever since I started watching what I eat and working out, I'm surprised at the energy I have. I'm not energetic every day, but I have a lot more good days than I used to. It makes me happy.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that my husband ordered me new sneakers! Amazon had some Skechers on sale and he knew I needed new shoes, so he ordered them for me. I'm so excited.0
