Day 7, level 1 done. Today was much easier than yesterday was even having the day off on Saturday. I just wish that my measurements would change some. How long before you noticed any changes?
I got very small 1/2 inch on my thighs (but that could be measuring inaccuracies) after the first week. I think we'll have to go find someone who did it all the way through and see what they say.0 -

I did 20 minutes of a pilates video after work today.
It wasn't very challenging, but it was good to stretch my muscles.
What's interesting was a few years ago, this was the workout video I wasn't results from. Yeah, no. I put it in here, and the calorie burn per MFP and also based on my perceived level of exertion is NOTHING compared to Jillian. I think maybe 20 minutes of yoga/pilates might be a *false message of lethargy*0 -
Day 8 level 2 complete!0

Question...is anyone taking 1 rest day or working out every single day? I've worked out 6 consequitive days and today would be my rest day. I'm a little tired, but I know if I worked out I'd feel okay after the workout. I don't want to get burned out. I'd love to get your feedback about that. Thanks and happy shredding! :flowerforyou:0

I've been outing it off until the last minute and now it's 11 and I'm gonna do the shred and elliptical. I'm gonna be beat but that's what I get for procrastinating!0

I'm doing it every day. 10 days on each level. I started on March 1, so I had a full 30 days in 1 month (yes, I'm anal like that..haha). I haven't got to the point where I'm burned out because parts of it are still a challenge. As a matter of fact, I look forward to doing it and seeing how many calories I can burn and how sweaty I can get. If you think you need a day off, TAKE IT! But, if you think you can do it every day- I'd say go for it. It can't hurt, only help, right? Working out gives me energy and makes me feel good about myself- so I'm doing it every single day.0 -

I took a rest day...my body needed it:) I listen to my body first and then I can preform better the next day0 -
You're right. I can't afford to take a day off. I need to burn every extra calorie I ate in order to shred the inches. I want results! Thanks for the advise! :flowerforyou:0

Day 8, level 1 done. I changed the audio options on the DVD so I wouldn't hear Jillian talk anymore. Kind of a mistake. I had to keep looking at the tv because I didn't hear when the intervals were over. As annoying as she is, I need to hear that I have 2 more reps left.
I measured myself today. Up 1.5 lbs and lost a half inch on my arms, belly and boobs. Don't wanna lose what I have, but I guess I can't fight it either. ::sigh:: this is life. On the other hand, I tried to clean up my eating a little more today so I feel good about that. Found a great recipe on this site for "bruschetta chicken bake", of course it's on the back of a stove top stuffing box, but it was yummy nonetheless. Keep up the good work ladies!0 -
Day 7 Level 2 done! Is it just me or is Jillian getting REALLY annoying....I took a rest day yesterday, my body really needed it. I also went for a walk/run on my treadmill after I finished this morning...I kind of have the Monday morning blah's. Happy Shreddin Everyone!0

I am taking 1 rest day only because I am gone every Saturday until May all day long. There is no way I can bring myself to get up any earlier than I have to on those days so I just decided to have an off exercise day. I did find that trying to do the Shred after a day off had no benefit., in fact the cardio seemed so much harder.0 -
CW: 145.6 lbs (2.2lbs lost!)
Bust: 37.5 in (no loss)
Waist: 30 in (-.25in)
Hips: 37.5 in (-.50in)
Thighs: 19 in (no loss)
Biceps: 11 in (-.25in)
This was a great week for me!! I'm on day 20 now and am loving the results I'm seeing! Finally, back into my "pre-pregnancy" jeans minus the muffin top :-)!0 -
Ohh I so want to be a part of this group. Is it still open?
I am going to do 30 day shred tonight, for the first time. (Thank you Netflix)
I have Netflix but it says the video is not available. I wonder is it's different in Canada.0 -

i appreciate the feedback0 -

Hips: Measure your hips around the largest part of your buttocks with your heels together. Hope this helps0 -
Whew! Day 4 done at 6am this morning!!! YAY! I was planning on getting up at 5am again, but for some reason my alarm didn't go off. I was lucky that I woke up when I did!! Hubby got up with me, even though he didn't need to be up for another hr. That was great. He made lunches while I got my 30DS out of the way!
Last night I had a migrane in the worst kind of way. I ended up standing under the hot water for a bit before going to bed... and for some crazy reason I just busted out with some Jillian style punches. That's right.. in the shower... loli had a question about measurements. when you measure your hips... well thats my problem, i dont know where i should be measuring them. my first measurements included the area of my muffin top and the top of my hip bones. should it be measuring lower and around my tookus?

I think honestly that you should just measure wherever you want to see a difference. I mean, the obvious spots such as your biceps and thighs but other then that its pretty much just wherever you'd like. Don't go measuring your head or anything because I doubt that will change, but your neck or at your belly button is good. You could also do several measurements down around your belly. As long as you do the same place everytime then you should be fine.
I do my waist which is right above my belly button, then on my belly button, then half way between my belly button and where the tops of my legs start, and then around my saddle bags...
Just pick a few and stick with those.. dont get too complicated though, because it can be frustrating when you are trying to see how many inches you lost but can't remember where you got the measurement from... Good luck!0 -
Good Morning everyone. Dreaded doing day 2 of Level 2 today, but actually ended up enjoying it a bit, and kind of looking forward to it tomorrow!
Rather down on myself though - maybe you can help. I have no self control, it's it's awfully depressing. I think I did pretty good food wise, but then I get depressed over my calories, ect., and it leads me to emotiona eating. I ate some M&M's last night and Raisinets. Everyone says go for it, just in moderation, but I cant even do that. Every bite, I feel guilty, but it doesnt stop me. Any advice? Just one more thing - is anyone else confused about how many calories they should really be eating every day to lose weight? I've tried doing research, but the numbers are all over the place - anywhere from 1200-1800, that's huge! I just want to be doing things right and I don't think that I am. I want results at the end of our 30 days!!!
Happy Tuesday......sorry and thanks for at least letting me type out my frustrations!0 -
Day 7 done.
I wanted to mix it up a bit but only have shred level 1 available. Soooo..I did level 1 of 6 week 6 pack. It was was easy compared to the shred. I also have an hour long hoop dance class tonight so that should help (make up for the easyness) as well.0 -
Just stumbled across this website.. and currently on day 2 of 30DS... Does it get any easier? I have a sinus infection, so the cardio is killing me.0

L1D5 DONE! I did 45 minutes on Gazelle while catching up on some Glee, amazing how fast time goes by when your mind is focusing on something else. My quads and calves are killing me today so I had to tell Jillian where to stick it for a couple of the exercises (thinking maybe I over did it doing the Gazelle yesterday, started out sore this morning) For the first time, I managed 8 unmodified push-ups today and finished the rest modified....so proud of myself! Hoping for 10 tomorrow?! I end up stretching way longer that she does, I think that too may be why I am so sore. Shred on Ladies!! (and men?)0

I just completed day 6 (L1) this morning and will NOT be doing it tromorrow. I think I did something weird to my knee when I was doing the side lunges. It doesn't hurt, just feels a bit wonky like I pulled something. But I think that is a sign that I may need to take a day off. I'll be doing Yoga tonight and will rest tomorrow and pick it back up on Thursday. FYI -There is an article on eHow.com that tells you the best way to do the shred is 30 days straight, but I've learned from experience that for me, over training tends to result in an injury that puts me out for a week or more. So I'm just going to listen to my body. Everyone is different, so if you feel you can go straight through, go at it!
But the good news is that I can do a full set of non-modified push ups and get through all circuits with almost no breaks except to swith up weights when doing those shoulder raises . . . ouch. I'm hoping the day of rest will have me stronger on Thursday. We'll see what happens.0 -

try not to be too hard on yourself, it's difficult to resist sometimes. Maybe try planning for some treats within your calorie allowance so you won't feel deprived?
as for how many cals - depends how much you have to lose. But if you don't have lots to lose I'd still start with a goal of 1500 rather than as low as 1200. Personally I find I can never sustain a goal of less than 1500 without losing it and bingeing. I just get too hungry. It's good to test out one goal for a few weeks and see if it works for you. There is a great thread about that on here somewhere I'll try and find the link and will come back and edit this post once I've found it.
ETA - here is the post/thread which I referred to

level 1 day 5 done.
I really wasn't in the mood - felt tired, run down and had PMT and was really grumpy.
But I made myself do it anyway and felt loads better afterwards so was glad I had done it!0 -

Welcome! It DOES get easier. It should still be a work-out for you (and not a walk in the park), but you will feel yourself getting stronger. The way I noticed I was getting stronger was my caloric burn. The first few days I was burning 315ish in the 20 minutes I was doing it. The last 3-4 days (I'm on day 8 today), I'm only burning 220ish, so my heart is definitely getting stronger. It will get progressively easier and then you'll bump up a level for more difficulty.
Feel better soon!0 -
Day 8 done. did level 3. was feeling very tired & somehow managed to do it.0
