My prayers are for you Sarge, Lord knows your prayers saw me through some hard times. I was on Lexapro for way to many years until I noticed it was doing me more harm then good. I thought at first to that it was a miracle how it helped. But the sweats ,......one of it's side effects was really bad...Your body is going through detox and if it's more then you can bare don't be afraid to ask for help from your doctor to do it. I went off gradually, but had help with the doctor. Take your time If it's a pill just cut it in a fourth, instead of half, don't put yourself through so much pain, you have time and Manda isn't going anywhere. Love you both , May God send His Angels and His Comforter to help you through this time of need. May He heal your body completely and cleanse your blood through the blood of our Saviour .Amen:heart::heart:

    Hey folks,

Just to update you on my journey, I had a pretty good day yesterday. Manda and I went for a run and it was surprisingly strong considering what my body has been through the last week or so. I actually didn't really start hurting until afterwards but it wasn't super bad, and the tremors seem to have become pretty intermitent.

This morning I woke to aching muscles and kind of a cold sweat, but it's nothing I can't handle. I seem to be well on the mend, I don't have a great deal of dizziness like I did before, so hopefully I am past the hardest part (over the hump as my Nanny used to say).

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you all again for the tremendous outpouring of love and support you have all shown. I couldn't have done it without you.

    Much love to you all,

    -J:heart:

    Good morning family!!!

Welp, it's been about a week since I updated this thread...

I am happy to report that everyday is getting better and better. I have stopped having the chills and shocks (for the most part, they are infrequent now) and the pain isn't as intense. I have also started dreaming relatively normally again which is kinda cool.

One of the strange side effects is that my appetitte lately has been CRAZY...I want to eat everything I see. I have read that coming off SSRI's will cause you to lose weight (as they inhibit weight loss) but good lord a'mighty, I have become the human food disposal. (This could just be Manda's amazing cooking...I shall chalk it up to a combination of the two) Hopefully that will straighten itself out, as my weight loss has taken quite the reverse from the direction I want it to go...

So that's where I am at the moment. I had a GREAT time at the games yesterday, and I attribute some of that to being off the mood altering drugs. I don't think I'm quite back to myself yet, but yesterday I was able to just sit and close my eyes, listen to the pipers, feel the wind caress me, and feel Mandas hand in mine...I felt the most serene sense of peace...I haven't felt that in a *LONG LONG* time...

Anyhoo, God bless ya'll. Have a beautiful happy sunday. J is almost back from standing on the precipice. I couldn't be happier because of it either.

Love and hugs to you all!

    hey J -

I haven't read all the replies, but I'm sure you've gotten a lot of great advice.

Ironically, I just started lexapro a few weeks ago. I was on paxil for years, but right after I went on it, I promptly gained 40lbs. yeah, didn't tell me about that side effect. I tried wellbutrin for a few months, but it didn't treat my gad or ocd. so, here I am on lexapro. my problem is I have a chemical imbalance in my brain, so therapy alone won't cut it. I'm only on 10mg and plan on staying that low dosage combining it with behavioral therapy.

sorry for the long story, but I wanted to tell you I can relate. getting off of paxil was HARD. just take it one day at a time. you can do it. :flowerforyou:
  • Being on drugs or off drugs shouldn't be what's its about. It's about being the person you want to be for yourself. Speaking as someone who recently started taking something for anxiety (Effexor) I have to say, as a person who NEVER believed that drugs were the answer (never taken aspirin in my life), I like who I am now...more tolerant enjoying the moments life offers me and available to my son. Who you want to be, Sarge is what comes first and if getting off the drugs works and gets you there, that's awesome but if it doesn't and you need them to get by know that who you are and what you're going through (or have gone through) is all apart of you...your inner building blocks. You reacted to your divorce in your unique way, it wasn't weakness, it was responsiveness and isn't that proof that you're alive?

My therapist says that drugs can only do 40% of the work, you do the rest. So don't torture yourself for needing a hand now and then...If manda fell you would offer her a helping hand to stand up right? Thats all the drugs do/did for you...Good luck however it works out.

(and thats my 2 cents that you didn't ask for...lol:tongue: )

I just weened myself off of Effexor XR 150. And let me tell you, it wasn't easy. The migraines were TERRIBLE!!! I still feel a little weird every now and then. I still get light headed and feel like I'm gonna pass out. But I would rather have that then the migraines. Glad you are doing better.
