I love my kia rondo. Seats go down... I call it a McMiniVan!!
I have a 4cylinder. My gas tank is appx 15gallons. I usually fill up when I am at 1/4 tank usually put in 20-25dollars usd to get me back up close to the top.
I am married and 2 dogs (big one and a small one)
I love how comfortable I am in this car!!!
Mon-Fri my work commute is 20miles both ways & I usually am out all day Saturday with my Mom shopping, running errands I can be out driving from 11am to 8pm.

Give this car a test drive!!!

Although the Kia Soul is a cute care too!!!

    Good Luck!!!

hyundai santa fea!!!! it's amazing!! Rides veryy smooth, lots of leg room, lots of space(moved my entire loveseat in the back of it), and great gas mileage. comes in a very pretty blue gray color too.

Subaru Forester -- I adore her (her name is Bessie).

I got her the summer of 1998! She has over 150,000 miles on her. As long as we've kept her tuned up, she gets good mileage.

I drive a CHevy Trailblazer. It really does drink the gas. Other than the obvious cost at the gas pump, I have no complaints. It is nice and roomy. We have no issues with space when we travel. I can drive around a whole bunch of cheerleaders (whic I frequently have to do). It handles GREAT when we have snow. Overall, I am quite happy.

I have an '06 Dodge Durango. It has TONS of room, lots of options for the price, but it gets terrible gas mileage. The best vehicle I've ever owned was a Nissan Murano but we needed a third seat and a mini van was SO not an option ;)

I have a Toyota RAV4 which is a small SUV. It has plenty of room for me but I don't have kids, only a dog. It is really good on gas mileage though and I think a great size if you don't need a 3rd row option.
  • ok.. i have a nissan armada... LOVE THE SPACE AND THE COMFORT... it seats 8 comfortably will a full fold down third row in case you dont need it... has dvd, back up camera, gps,... my biggest draw back gas mileage... on a good day 14 mpg... avg 12.8-13... but i love it... i have a second car that i drive to work since i drive 90 miles a day n i use the armada as a family car.

Considering the increasing gas prices, do you REALLY need the space every day?
I had read a report somewhere, where they basically listed how many times you can rent a truck if needed and still come out on top considering gas prices, insurance, taxes -- not even to mention cutting down on pollution and preserving resources.

That said, I am driving a 1999 VW Beetle Diesel (42 mpg baby)

Grand Jeep Cherokee LOVE it! Easy turning radius, simple to park, 15-20 mpg, not too big, not too small, good mid-size vehicle, only 2 rows of seating instead of 3. Good space in the back for storage, comfortable , . . . LOL

We just got a Subaru Tribeca as our family vehicle. All-wheel-drive and very nice. Still a fairly small SUV but has a fold-down 3rd row of seats so you can seat 7 people if you need to. Decent gas mileage but not the best since it has AWD, but it's a trade-off we were willing to make. Subarus have very good safety and reliability. I have also have a Subaru Impreza WRX that's been my daily driver since 2002 with no problems. I've taken it camping and mountain biking and actually been in rough trail situations where I got one wheel off the ground. And this is a station wagon. :)

I have wanted a Honda Pilot for years and in December(4 days before our second child was born) we got a used one. Let me say that I will never own another vehicle!! I LOVE it. It has 3rd row seating and is very spacious. The gas mileage is also pretty good. My hubby also says how he may even get one now too as his work vehicle since it also has a 4x4 option. We love, love, love our Pilot!!

I am with you on the mini-van thing. I don't know really why, but I could never drive one.

  • I LOVED my Hyundai Santa Fe. I just sold it last week because my husband wanted a Toyota Tacoma, so I took his car. Once we have the Tacoma paid off I will buy another Santa Fe for sure. My father-in-law has worked very high up in the automotive business for many many years, and his wife drives a Santa Fe. Hyundai's are great cars now a days!

07 Jeep Compass. It's a smaller SUV (my boyfriend calls it a buggy). I have the smaller engine so I get roughly 25-30 mpg. I love it!

I had a Cadillac Escalade and I didnt like it and I sold it. It was big and hard to park in certain places, and it was really expensive to fill up in gas. I wont ever buy one that big again. I drive a Toyota Solara now, but I have friends that drive smaller suv's and I think they are a good choice.

Hell yeah that's what im talking about!!! I want one so badly.
  • Well right now Im driving a Honda minivan since I have 4 young kids. I was like you and refused to get one for a long time. But buying it was the best choice I ever made and I dont have to help the kids get in, they can jump right in by themselves. But when I had 2 kids I drove a Lincoln Aviator and I loved it! They no longer make them because they decided to make a crossover instead of a small SUV so you would have to buy used. Then I had an expedition for a while. It was confortable and I liked it but it was a gas hog, plus having to lift the kids into the car everytime was a pain.
Maybe you should just go take a took a a few minivans before you get a SUV. The gas mileage is so much better and it soo much more kid friendly.

I'm driving a 1992 Miata.... and rent a hauling vehicle when I need one. However, this is the "grown up going to work" car in our family. The other is also not an SUV...

Chevy Traverse. I like it and so do the kids. My husband used to refuse to drive my old SUV and we would have to take his "manly" truck everywhere  but he will actually drive this. It usually gets 17-20 mpg.

A Yukon Denali XL...seats 7 and has alot of storage in the rear. As with any SUV gas is going to cost more. It gets 13 miles per gallon.
But you will not have to use a luggage rack of any external storage outside of your vehicle. With all the other SUV and vans with third row seating, you lose your trunk/ storage space, with this vehicile you don't.

(I must preface this by saying I was born and raised in the Motor City) and I refuse to buy anything that is not a big three car: Ford, Chrysler or GM. That being said, I drive a Ford Edge, it's great! I get good gas mileage and I drive ALL day for work. I use to have a Cadillac CTS but you said you needed an SUV.. What price range are you in? I have had Ford Explorer's and trucks as vehicle's in the past. I think a SUV hybrid would be the way to go for you if you're looking for great gas mileage. Good luck! If you're looking for a gently used car, check out the Enterprise.com website.. they sell their cars after a year on the road. That is where I purchased my Edge from a few months ago. I don't know anyone specific I just did some research online and came across their site. They have an A++ warrantly too. I paid $2500 for a 100,000 5 year bumper to bumper warranty so I feel a lot better about buying "used."
    Good luck!

I am secure enough with my manhood to drive a Toyota Echo and I am rewarded with 40+ mpg. I love using it to cause fits of rage among short men in lifted trucks.

I drive an '01 Beetle (not diesel, unfortunately). 31 mpg highway, 24 in the city. Stick shift helps keep mileage good, also.
