I'm definitely going for the skorts, but I will wear them with a muscle shirt so as not to look too effeminate.:noway:0

HI all,
Air still bad here so I ran on the treadmill 20 minutes walked 15. Tomorrow the running group goes out early and we plan to run 4 miles. I will do as much running as I can. I can go a long time (for me) if I keep a really slow pace. I think I'll work on distance before speed? What do you all think? If I run too fast I just run out of breath and have to walk anyway!
Bunny
Definitely distance! Working on speed before you're ready is a quick route to injury. I always focused on being able to run the whole way even if I was slow.0 -

Don't bother with the muscle shirt - those purple sneakers you wear are a total giveaway to your repressed feminine side!!
(Yes, when I am not stalking shannon doing her Polka dancing, i am hiding in your closet!! )0 -
Well I made it to the smelly, smelly gym. But instead of going straight from work I had to come home-- I forgot my jog bra. I can not run without it.. someone would get hurt. :noway: So I walked down to the gym and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill with the last mile and a half at the fastest pace I have had yet. It was only 5.3 but I'm still on baby steps.0

first of all - it is awesome that you went all the way home and walked to the gym! if I came home first I would never go back out!
second - WAY TO GO!! that is great progress! 5.3 is amazing!! don't do too much too fast - stay at that level for a couple of days until it is comfortable and then increase....0 -

Hanging out here wasn't enough of a clue? You had to invade the sanctity of my closet? Next you will probably be telling everyone what I wear under my skorts!!:embarassed:0 -
Hi All! It sounds like there were some great runs today. Great Job! I had an involuntary rest day. More rain which we need badly. Hoping to shave a minute or two off my time tomorrow.
Have a great weekend all!:glasses:0 -
Thanks ladies!!
At the end of the day, I'll do anything to help her breath easier. She sounds like a panting dog.
It will also be nice to have her wake up in a good mood and well rested.
Now, maybe my adenoids are enlarged too cuz I haven't slept in 5 years!!! lol
My son had alllllllllllllllll this done, he never slept, had ear infections like a cocker spaniel...It was a nightmare. UGGGG!!!! It was simple to do, he had them in for a few years, then finally we had them taken out. I forget why??? Anyway, He still has the suckers in a sterile container somewhere. How funny.
ANYWAY!!! It is simple...it's quick, but it makes you feel all sappy that your little one has to have anything done. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: You'll be okay mommy!!!0 -
Hokay today...
I just got back from the HARDEST run I have done throughout my journey here. It is soooooooooo000000000ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
humid outside both my husband agreed, dying might hurt less than our run.
But I had him push me to do 2 miles, it was AWFUL, but we did it! Florida is HOT tonight!
So friends, I did keep thinking...at least I get to log it tonight and share. It was awful, but I pushed because I told my DH that I refuse to type anything down here other than at LEAST 2 miles! :laugh:0 -
Hi MFP Runner's...
What is the best way to get started??? I have been doing a lot of strength but my cardio is slow. Typically on the elliptical I do about a 12 min mile. What that would relate to in real running I have no idea. Would like to try, just not sure if it's right for me. Any suggestions??? Thanks!0 -
I am just learning too! I always have questions...
But WELCOME!!!0 -
Thanks, glad to be here...(I think)...
Great job on the two miles, I'd be lucky to make it two minutes without going into cardiac arrest...LOL.
Any starting tips will be greatly appreciated!0 -

My first goal...Don't die.
Start from there, and I'm sure it will get better soon! LOL I'm going to bed, but I'll type more tomorrow and I look forward to seeing what the pro's here suggest!!! :flowerforyou:0 -

Just take it slow. There is no rush. 2 years ago I could run 6 miles, two months ago I couldn't run 6 houses.
Just so you know for me, I ran really, really slow, like slower than a fast walk, but I just kept going out everyday. Then all of a sudden last week my breathing steadyed and I felt like I could run with a little speed, and this morning just like that I ran over 4 miles. It just takes time and don't rush it, but you do have to push just that little bit more everyday. Good luck!

Thanks. Today I did two laps around the track at the Y and felt like I was creeping along. This was about 45 minutes into my training session and it was HOT in the gym. Tomorrow is a new day....0 -
Ok ladies...I am feeling really guilty. I have been running every day at least 4 miles for quite some time now. Yesterday when I woke up I felt a little sore and tired so I decided to take a day off which I always feel guilty when I do. So last night guess what happened....WAM!! My T.O.M came on time, a rare occurence since I am in peri-menopause. Running while on is usually not a problem but this time I have such back and stomach cramping and a huge headache. Now I am feeling so guilty because I took yesterday off and I really don't see myself hitting the pavement today!!! Does anyone else deal with such guilt?? I mean I know that I am going to beat myself up today if I don't get out there andit really puts me in such a downer!! HELP!!! How do you avoid the guilt or tell yourself it's ok and mean it?!0
