Bicycle Commuters?

I am on day 2 of my bicycle commute, 8km each way. We have rain in the forecast for next week, but I am thinking of sticking with the bike. Does anyone else commute this way? Should I get some rain pants? I am worried about my glasses getting wet and not being able to see. I could use some tips to help me stick with this.

    Awesome!!!

I commute in the summer when the kids are out of school - the bus comes too late for me to get to work on time during the school year. My commute is 7 miles each way.

Rain jacket & pants are great! I would also recommend a fender on at leat your front wheel. The water falling from the sky is (relatively) clean. The water being flung at your face by the front wheel is NASTY!!

If it's a really humid day, then your glasses might fog up. Otherwise the rain itself isn't too bad on the lenses. You might check with an automotive store to find a anti-fogging product for windshields that you could apply to your glasses too.

My other essentials are a rack with paniers (backpack makes me too sweaty in our heat) and a 'bike kit' that I leave at work that has deodorant, sandals (I ride in clipless cycling shoes), hairbrush & such so I don't have to carry everyday needs everyday.

Hope that helps! Enjoy the ride!
