... Ha ha.... I've been clicking on some posts that have all these articles...

"Splenda Gives You Liver Disease"
"Sugar is Toxic- Making You Sick"
"Going to Gym is Bad For You"
"Drinking Soda Will Kill You--- Tomorrow!!!"

I mean... honestly... can we get a grip here. It it is somewhat overwhelming to think of all the facts and myths and craziness that is losing weight. Here's what I have to say... we're all going to die sometime. So, no need to use the fear tactics on MFP :))))

We're just here to lose weight.

  • Hilarious! I noticed that trend last night. It's like pre-6 o'clock news: "Is your child's school lunch killing him??? Stay tuned at 6pm to find out.."

Yeah, I stay away from the fear-monger threads. ALL CAPS TOPIC TITLES are usually a good indication that there might be some craziness inside

I remember when I first started on this site and it was like a new world to me, even though I'd been attempting to lose weight using another website for a year prior. I think what we all have to remember as "seasoned members" is that all these posts from people who say "Sugar is the devil" Don't eat fat!" etc etc etc etc is that it is just a person who is excited about being here and wants to share what they've found.

Love the types of titles that catch people's eyes. Words like SECRETS and MYTHS and MISTAKES and FAILURE.

We also click a lot on "depressed" and "need encouragement."

my favourites are the "anything not completely whole and natural will kill you" posts. whatever. create a deficit and you will lose. pretty simple.

LOL yes I know! Quite awhile back someone posted a topic asking something about using splenda in a strawberry pie. I was the only one that answered her. The rest were posts saying how splenda is going to kill you, etc. It seriously *issed me off. Now if she had asked is it bad for me then that's different. :)

I don't mind splenda personally. The one I try to avoid is aspartame, but that is because it gives me headaches. I keep hearing good things about truvia, I might give that a try.

I prefer splenda over truvia but you're not me..hope you like it better than I do! My motto is everything in moderation...I don't use it everyday.

    LOL love it!!!
  • Hahaha...
I've got one for the zealots....

"WALKING OUTSIDE INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF BEING STRUCK BY LIGHTING,"
    Or
"WALKING INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF BEING HIT BY A BUS,"

Yeah...People like that are NOT on my MFP team.

It sure has...if I don't get my food! lol

Oh, and apparently Splenda caused my MS!!
I love that one...since experts can't even decide what causes it in people.

Google orthorexia nervosa. This kind of thing is actually an illness.
