This would be awesome if it passed.

I'm sorry, why is it a good thing that adults can't make their own choices while we continue to poison our children?0

Sounds stupid to me.0

Because its a beginning. Sometimes one measure has to be passed in order to introduce others. I hope it spreads.0 -
This is...ughh. The government is not responsible for our making of good decisions.
The same people that argued for use of trans fat are fighting against it. The CSPI can't make up their damn minds and are off their rockers. If you don't want your children poisoned, pack their lunches.0 -
I believe NY passed a law like this not too long ago. I'm not 100% sure but I know I've heard of a state doing that already.0
-
The reason I think that it is a good start is sometimes I like going out to eat with my boyfriend. I dont want to have to question little thing that is in what Im eating. I think CA is the only other state for sure.0
-
NYC and the State of California have trans fat laws.0
-
This really isn't that great of a bill. Many times instead of using trans fats, companies will switch to saturated fats, which are arguably just as bad. People just need to look our for themselves, or cook at home the majority of the time.0
-
I'm tired of the government trying to micro manage everyone's lives. How about letting adults make their own choices for a change?0

If the government wanted to make our food healthier, they should concentrate on making it illegal to pump chemicals and drugs into our livestock to make them grow faster/bigger.0

Do not want.0

then we probably couldn't afford it sadly
Meat is expensive enough as it is.0 -
Wow. I didnt expect this reaction. Not everybody cares about about what goes in their bodies. The simple fact of food sizes shows how companies want people to over eat. I thought more people would think of this as a step forward. Yes. It is not perfect and I dont agree with the poor nutrition in the schools right not but ...0

Theres bigger things for government to worry about than food.
WAY bigger.
and, really, theyre just making stupid rules now. Next thing you know theyll be banning food contests in restaurants.
Choices are choices, people have to make them themselves.
Survival of the fittest and all that.0 -

They won't care if it's trans fat, saturated fat or soylent green.0 -

Actually some schools are banning outside lunches.

I am not so worried about the fats... I want laws passed so I know if I am being served Genetically Modified food or a hamburger from a cloned cow! THat should be on the label with the ingredients0

Anytime we let the government make a choice for us, we give up a little of our freedom. Government has no place in deciding what a restaurant can cook with. What's next, a mandate that everybody must use olive oil to cook in their home kitchens?0
-
Interesting. Maybe instead of banning it, they should just be forced to announce which foods have it. I LOVe having all the calories listed next to the foods now in restaurants in California. Wish at least the main nutrients, carbs, fat, protein, would be listed as well!0
-
Oh, I wish that would come to Florida!!!!!!0
-
Ugh, I hate this. If it is a step towards anything, it is towards letting the government make all of your choices. I don't need them mandating what I eat, thanks.0
-
I recently traveled to NYC and I LOVED that a lot of the chains had cal/fat/ect listed. I hope they do that in IL to hold food places responsible. I know it doesn't really have to do with this article, but I hope it happens.0

So stupid. Cutting out trans fats will not make something healthier. It's all a give and take..what about saturated fats? ..just like reduced fat means higher carbs. And the occasional trans fat in a healthy diet WILL NOT KILL YOU. Moderation, people. Moderation -_-0

A **** would be flipped, if this happens when I have a kid.
Also, if they take out trans fat - I'm just gonna get 2 milkshakes instead of the chicken. MY WAY OF STICKING IT TO THE MAN!!!0 -

I fully agree.0 -
Just a little bit more of our lives the government is trying to control. I'll eat whatever I durn well please and if the government doesn't like it they can take a flying leap! I read about a school in Chicago that is not allowing children to bring lunches from home. My first thought was "ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!" If I still had kids in school it'd be a cold day in Hell before I'd allow the school to ban my kids from bringing lunches from home!0
