So... I admit it.. I am addicted to Subway.. I have it about once a week. It's gotten so bad I went in last night and the lady who was working corrected me when she thought I said a different type of bread! LOL! Is that sad or what!? Anyway, I usually get the $5.00 footlong and split it between two meals. My order goes like this (not that I need to tell the workers apparently, haha):

*Footlong on wheat
*Black forest ham
*Provolone cheese
*Toasted
*Banana Peppers
*Lettuce
*Tomato
*Pickle
*Spicy Brown Mustard

Yum, yum, yum! So, my question to you this morning is... What is your favorite Subway sub!? I'd like to get some new ideas or mix it up :)

*Hope everyone has a healthy, blessed and great Wednesday!

Before my weight loss decision I loved either the meatball or Italian. But now if I go to Subway I get that black forest ham as well. It's really good. Subway is the only "fast food" I've had since march 29th and I have only had it twice. I might try something different next time I go.
  • I loooove the veggie patty...I also get the Tuna but with one scoop because of all that Fat.
  • I usually get the Turkey breast on wheat bread, with spinach, green pepper, lettuce, lite mayo and a little sweet onion vinaigrette.

Its SOOOO good... and it fills me up
  • Sweet Onion Chicken teriakyi (sp?) is my fav

  • An addiction to subway is not a bad thing ;) I knew that I really need to start losing weight when the woman at the chinese restaurant knew my order and it was NOT healthy! I love the roasted chicken breast with honey mustard, loaded with veggies, toasted on 9 grain honey oat....YUM

i LOVE the over roasted chicken breast. I do the same-- split it between two meals. But ever since I started paying close attention to sodium, I have ex'ed out the chicken breast, and mostly every other sandwich at subway. So now I stick to the veggie delight- with extra veggies on flat bread. My order looks like this:

    Flat bread
No Mayo, Olive Oil, Vinegar, or Cheese
    Warmed (not toasted)
    with Extra veggies
    No cucumbers or cilantro
And yes, I will have jalepenos and banana peppers.
    No salt or peper.

Oh, and a cup of water.

    Yum!

My Subway standard is the chicken breast on honey oat bread with pepperjack cheese, a little spinach, onions, black olives, jalapenoes and hit it lightly with the southwest chipolte sauce. Even with the sauce and cheese it is still a very reasonable meal calorie wise and I think the extra spice from the pepperjack, sauce and peppers helps to fill you up.

I always get the same thing when i go in, except for yesterday I got it in the salad form.

    *Black Forest Ham
    *Turkey
    *Flatbread
    *Cheddar Cheese
    ~toasted~ yum!
    *Lettuce
    *Tomato
    *Pickles
    *Olives
*one quick line of light mayo (not too much)

The salad was the same thing except way less cheese shredded, no bread, and no mayo AND only half the calories :)

YES! I just discovered their flatbread and it is yummy!

All my sandwich has is this (I like stuff plain):
    Chicken
    Flatbread
    Cheese
    Toasted

Eat half then and save the other half or share with my son.

Footlong ham for dinner on 9-grain wheat (which is only 560 cals in Canada, 580 in the US) b/c it’s on the $5 menu, turkey got bumped to select menu like $7 or so and the sodium is w/in 50mg so I stick to being my frugal, deal-loving self. While on vaca last year I noticed in the US the chicken breast was on the $5 menu while here its premium $8.99, not fair!! The US also has spinach but no BBQ sauce, even in the south which is dumb (hubby’s order is footlong veggie everything but olives and BBQ sause).

Toppings: lettuce, double tomatoes, pickles, banana peppers, cucumbers, green peppers, mustard and black pepper.

NO CHEESE! We are a cheese hating household, ew!

= 1800mg sodium so I have a salad at lunch with natural salsa b/c its low/0 sodium.

Subway tonight b/c we have grad class after work, yay!

Subway tip for everyone. If you order the chicken breast and then ADD the sweet onion teriyaki as your sauce, it costs $1 less than ordering a "sweet onion chicken teriyaki". So yeah... that's what I do.

Chicken breast on 9 Grain Honey Oat with lettuce, black olives, banana peppers, pickles and the sweet onion sauce.

I truly love their sweet onion chicken teriyaki but since Googling their bread I stay away now. And their 6" Tuna on Wheat has about the same nutritional content as a McDonald's Big Mac.

    What's Really In …
    SUBWAY 9-GRAIN WHEAT (6")
    210 calories
    2 g fat (0.5 g saturated)
    410 mg sodium

Okay, so you're probably not in the habit of ordering a la carte bread loaves at Subway, but there’s a good chance you've eaten at least a few sandwiches built on this bread. The good news is that Subway actually delivers on the nine-grain promise. The bad news: Eight of those nine grains appear in miniscule amounts. If you look at a Subway ingredient statement, you'll find every grain except wheat listed at the bottom of the list, just beneath the qualifier "contains 2% or less." In fact, the primary ingredient in this bread is plain old white flour, and high-fructose corn syrup plays a more prominent role than any single whole grain. Essentially this is a white-wheat hybrid with trace amounts of other whole grains like oats, barley, and rye.

So outside of the nine grains, how many ingredients does Subway use to keep this bread together? Sixteen, including such far-from-simple ingredients as DATEM, sodium steroyl lactylate, calcium sulfate, and azodiacarbonamide. But here's one that's a little unnerving: ammonium sulfate. This compound is loaded with nitrogen, which is why it's most common use is as fertilizer. You might have used it to nourish your plants at home. And Subway does the same thing; the ammonium sulfate nourishes the yeast and helps the bread turn brown. What, did you think that dark hue was the result of whole grains? Hardly. It's a combination of the ammonium sulfate and the caramel coloring. Seems like Jarod might frown on that sort of subterfuge.

Of course, in terms of calories, Subway's still one of your best allies in the sandwich game. But here's an even better idea: Whip up one of these 25 best sandwiches in America at home in minutes. You'll save calories, money, and precious time
The article also includes other equally disturbing facts about modern 'foods'

    http://health.yahoo.net/experts/eatt...bout-your-food

But considering what we're subjected to everyday - as far as chemicals go - this might not be too bad. Still love the Sweet Onion Sauce. Wish they sold that in the stores.

Did you guys see the recent report that Subway is lowering the sodium content of many of its sandwiches? Great news for Subway lovers! I was shocked when I started using MFP and saw the sodium content - I had no idea. Before watching my diet I used to love the meatball sub, but I have only had one in the last three years. Now I get chicken breast or the club - the club is so good with bacon added so I allow myself that once a month or so. Now my mind is made up about lunch today - I'm going to Subway and having the April special, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese!

I wish turkey was on the list of $5 footlongs. I normally get

    Black Forrest Ham
    Wheat
    Lettuce
    Pickles
    Onions
    Bell Peppers
    American Cheese

The local subways here do not have Spinach on their list of veggies.

I like the oven roasted chicken breast on honey oat bread toasted with swiss cheese, with spicy brown mustard and all the veggies minus: pickles, olives, bannana peppers...trying to watch the sodium.
