If people want to eat capn crunch thats pretty much their buisness and choice.

Thank you for not misspelling the Cap"n.

This (the original post) is exactly why my food diary is private. :grumble:

Yep, and Cap'n Crunch is still a better choice than a donut!

Okay, I know I am on the same high horse as usual, but I am TIRED of seeing diaries where my friends are either:

    a) not eating NEARLY enough -- we're talking under 1,200 calories a day -- to LIVE, let alone thrive, and everybody "woo-hooing" them and giving them "way to go's" for starving themselves and/or

    b) staying within their calorie count, but eating things like Captain Crunch for breakfast or some other such crapola.

I know we are all working on calorie counts, but PLEASE consider what is good for your body -- nutritious and healthy -- and not just how many calories it has.

I am NOT a perfect eater (especially since I've been on vacation for 10 days now), but I'm working on being a much healthier eater. We need to be going towards health and not just avoiding calories.

Okay, I feel better now. Eat well, people! :grumble:

Remember that we all have different goals and nutritional needs. I'm iron deficient anemic and the best way for me to get my iron (and be able to drag myself out of bed in the morning) are those overly sugary, but blessedly iron-enriched breakfast cereals. They may not be good for you, but they're on my top ten list.

I have seen some very thin and young people here that feel as though they need to lose weight.

I don't criticize them, but I don't think folks should be congratulating them for starving themselves.
Eating disorders are dangerous and a serious problem.

Be sure to read what a person has done before responding with a "Way to Go",or "Good Job"

I feel the same and agree with that too.

I don't really nose in people's diaries and don't cheer/criticize them when they're eating under. I was also one of those people eating around 700 calories at one point but changing now to stay on 1200 cals now. I just don't log these on and keep them private so no one can comment.

I always cheer when they do exercises!

I can see both sides of this debate. I personally am not here to lose weight (though it's an awesome 2nd place reason I must say!) I joined because I needed to change WHAT I was eating. I am Diabetic and had a heart attack at the age of 37. I was one of those eating whatever I wanted with no care as to what it was doing to my body. Let me tell you, having your heart fail as such an age really is a crappy thing to deal with. I try very hard to eat better foods and I know I will falter. But I log those faltering moments in because I HAVE to be honest with myself. In fact I just wrote a blog post about this very subject. Of why we hide our diaries away and why we should start coming out and letting everyone see what we eat. We need support. And a bit of tolerance in understanding each person has specific reasons why they are eating what they eat. None of us are nutritional gods here. And we need to step off our ****ing high horse.

i understand the first posters view point but we need to be encouraging rather than angry. Because after all it is their body and we have enough on our plate (sorry bout the pun!) looking after our own diaries!

I think that maybe the first poster is finding it harder to stay on track if others are just scoffing too much junk, in that case i suggest they de-friend those people and make more friends who are trying to lose weight in the same view point.

agree. same could be said about alcohol that is consumed by those trying to lose weight (drinking calories) and those that still chose to smoke.

unless you are perfect, I don't think you can judge someones diary. just saying!

and I love you, but your diary for 4/24 had good humor ice cream on it! probably the same bad stuff as the cereal.

i just logged my Fruit Loops

Well, just got back from a HORRIBLE eating day, and it's hilarious to see my friends handing my a** to me on MFP.com, the most positive site I know! Thanks to all who posted, even those who let me have it.

I usually try to be extremely supportive & encouraging, but when I see someone eating 900 calories, I get worried. I also post everything I eat, and like tmthorn said, I did eat an ice cream bar the other day; as I said, I am NOT a perfect eater & don't claim to be, I just think we need to be going TOWARDS health and not always AWAY from calories -- it's much healthier.

Okay, I am off my high horse now, keep up the good work, everybody, and try to eat healthy! :drinker:
