Ah Wii fit... my balance board took a dive a couple months ago (I got it used from someone else, so no warranty) and I've been contemplating whether to replace it. I don't think I have enough time for it right now though, so I will stick with my gym membership.
Hi springbride! It's really interesting to start wearing one and see how much you actually walk in a typical day!0 -
7000 steps sounds good. i almost hit that yesterday walking along the FDR 5566; approximately 75 minutes of walking. but earlier i went outside to run errands all around up and down the avenue and I hit over six thousand i cant recall the exact number in about 2 hr and a few minutes cause i made a lot of stops in the way. so i think you can definitely do it. use the stairs at work, if possible. just walk any possible distance that becomes available to you.0

I had a super busy day at work today and then I went to the gym after and ended up with 17,745 steps for today! Wow that's a lot of walking! I had no idea I do so much in a day like today. Glad that I am meeting my goal, it feels really good! How's it going for everyone else?0
-
I would love to join too.I am a nurse at a hospital and I walked all day. Can does steps count?0
-
Hi all! Sorry I have been missing in action for a few days - I went away for the weekend. You guys have all been doing so well Tita, yep, steps at work definitely count!
So, my total from last Monday (25th April) to yesterday (1st May)
Total steps 50784
Total miles 23.95
Calories Burnt 3275
That's my incentive to keep going!0 -
17,745 steps?!?!?! Lol, that'd send me into labor!
I really like my WiiFit, but I think I'd personally prefer a gym membership. I haven't gotten one though, cause with all these little kids of mine, it's a lot easier to workout at home. I think after having the baby, the WiiFit will be nice to help me ease back into exercising.0 -
I would like to join in if its not to late. I'll start with 5,000 steps and see where I'm at then go from there!! Thank for the encouragement...0
-
Not too late at all! The more the merrier0

Thanks I'm excited to make myself walk more When do we give totals and what totals do we give???0 -
I put my weekly total and included steps, miles and calories burned. If people want to friend me or put their info here I am more than happy to keep a spreadsheet. I'm keeping a daily note in my diary.0
-
I didn't have time last night to post but I walked about 8500 steps yesterday! So far today the count is pretty low but I have plans to fix that0
-
Hi all, of steps, miles and calories burned per week. If you would like me to include your data then please friend me and send me a message with your stats at the end of each week. I know some people are a week behind but that's not a problem!
The week will run Monday to Sunday so if people can send their info each Monday/Tuesday that would be brillo0 -
Woohoo! I got 11000 steps in today! The weather was SO nice, I just couldn't stay indoors.0
-
Everyone is doing so well!!0

I hate my pedometer. Third day I had it I went for a five mile run. It calculated 700 and something steps. I think not!0

I had that probem but I ordered a new one off of EBAY for $.99 from overseas and it works great. The only thing I would of done different would of been to get one with a cover, sometimes mine erases and I hate when that happens.0 -
Woo hoo 7500 steps, 3.6 miles and 251 calories.
My goal was 5000 and I cleared that so I will continue with the 5000/day and up my goal next week0 -
Do any of you actually count your pedometer calories as exercise?? I didn't know if I should enter them or not.. Just wondering!!0
-
I do, I enter it as walking, you can override it to put the number of calories burned0
-
I just read in a couple of places that you need to walk approximately 70,000 miles to burn 1 pound of fat. I'll keep that in mind for sure!0
-
That's a lot of walking for a pound, but I guess if you're shooting for 10,000 per day that should work out per week. All the more motivation for me to make that goal every day!!
Yesterday I did good, 11000 after my trip to the gym on the treadmill. I'm a little worried about today because I have a lot of homework for school and unfortunately that's kinda hard to do while walking.. :indifferent: I guess I'll just have to take a couple breaks from it and get out there.0 -
I broke 10,000 for the first time! 104570

I just got a free pedometer in my 'in-box' today at work for having been part of a 6 week fitness challenge. So of course the first thing i did was clip it on..unfortunately sometime during the day i hit the reset button. I was planning on wearing it daily so how serendipitous that you would post this challenge! I'm in :-)0

Welcome to the group! The more the merrier. I thought it was best to keep the goal on the low side so I could reach it but some days I've missed it. Good luck0
-
Thanks for the welcome! I think it's better to work up to a goal than set it too high too...why set yourself up for failure when everything we're doing right now is for the positive!0
-
Woo hoo today is almost over and I'm at 10,740 steps, 5.2 miles and 362 calories down. I'm a bit worried the cals seem high so not sure if I should log them??? Any advice??? Also I see that some of you keep your pedometers on while working out. I don't because I feel that would be double counting if you add your workout am I right?0

A few things... I read somewhere that you shouldn't log your steps if you are not actually working out. Like for me... Today, I had 8889 steps. No real exercise, just from the time I got up till now. I am on my feet all day. Now, some people reset their pedomiter when they go for that walk or other exercise. And they record that, I don't. I just keep track of the minutes and log it on MFP. Basically, I use mine as a tool. To strive to get more steps in.
Someone said that they HATE theirs. I love mine. I got it at CVS for about 35 bucks. It is a Life Fitness Active Step. Some of the cheaper ones will count steps while you are tapping your foot, or shaking your leg. Mine doesn't. The directions on mine said you can even keep it in your purse and it will still count the steps, but I never did that.
I'm not a expert or anything I just do my research before I buy stuff. I want to get things for cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for.
BTW, I'm in for this challenge.0 -
just about 9500 steps for today!0
-
Today, I walked 5000 steps.0
