I would say that I've gone over my cals each day this weekend, including Friday. I was still 146 this morning, which is down over 2 from last wednesday, but I know most of that is water.
Yesterday we went to Grand Traverse Pie Company for lunch. We don't usually do big lunches - its usually dinner, but this was my big meal. I kinda love that place!! We just found it downtown and it keeps drawing us back. I got the French Dip...Mmmm - I love french dips. I'm sure the sodium was killer, but the cals were only about 700, which isn't too bad. Had a tea with it. Now, if I would have just said no to the strawberry rhubarb crumb, all would have been well. But, it was amazing!! Good thing I was stuffed. Still, I eliminated any deficit from yesterday.
Today is all about fruit. Not sure what's for dinner yet - maybe taco salad.0 -

Sounds like you had a great weekend! Here's to getting back into deficit-land for the week - :drinker:
It's all about vegetables for me today - I packed brussel sprouts, cherry tomatoes, baby carrot, cucumber and celery for my lunch & snacks today. All but the brussel sprouts are raw. (That's not *all* I'm eating - just the vegetable part.) I'm really trying to get a variety of veggies in on a regular basis.0 -
So yesterday really sucked! We went to the lake to bbq for Mother's day and the kids wanted sausage dogs (I got chicken ones,130 calories each). I had two of them and two ears of corn on the cob! I guess that wasn't too bad cause it was basically lunch and dinner but i splurged on chips and dip while we sat by the campfires and fished! I do alot of camping during the summer so this really scares me. I know that I snack and drink way more than I should when I'm out in the wilderness. This summer I plan to do alot more activities versus sitting by the fire and drinking. I want to hike, swim, tube or wake-board and all that good stuff but I'm still worried about the snacking. In the past we have had veggies plates that we set out for snacks but the dip is where I have issues. Does anyone have a delicious dip recipe that goes good with veggies or maybe bagel chips or something? Trent said something about a jalapeno yogurt dip... whats in that?0

I had an awesome time with my family though! It was a very happy mothers day I hope everyone else enjoyed their day too!0

It's greek yogurt-based, with jalapenos (it's not too spicy, though). I'll post the full ingredient list when I get home. We found it at Costco. I encourage you to lookup yogurt dip recipes online - they're pretty easy to make.
You can also make/buy hummus to use as a veggie dip. Healthy carbs, protein and fats! I encourage you to try making it at home, because it's super easy (chickpeas, lemon juice, tahini (you can buy/make this), olive oil, pepper and that's about it). There are fancier recipes, but that's the basics, and with homemade hummus you can control exactly what goes in it - store-bought will have more sodium, possibly sugar and other "additives".
One more thought - you might actually find you like veggies plain after awhile! I love freshly sliced cucumber, baby carrots, celery - all raw! I rarely use salad dressing anymore. It took awhile to get used to, but I'm glad that now it doesn't even bother me to pass over those extra calories from the dressings.0 -

I love hummus! It didn't even occur to me that I could make that... its kinda spendy in the store. I do eat veggies plain alot too but my family doesn't so I was looking for something that everyone would enjoy and if I wanted to dip i could without shame I really wanna try the jalapeno one though it sounds yummy
It is definitely cheaper to make hummus at home - the only thing is that Tahini (sesame seed paste) is pretty expensive - one jar should last you multiple batches (you find it next to the olives in the grocery store). You can make it at home, though - I did, it was pretty easy. You just toast the sesame seeds, then blend them in a food processor with some olive oil until it forms a smooth-ish paste. If you make the tahini at home, then home-made hummus is *way* less expensive!0 -
No suggestions for the dip but good luck hunting and post anything you find that is really good.
Down 3.3 pounds this morning but made the mistake of getting on the scale this evening!! :noway: ACK!! who does such a stupid thing?0 -
I did go over my calories on Saturday for sure this weekend, but I did figure out the calories in the strawberry tart that I made.
About 240 calories per slice. Which isn't great but isn't good. Our chimichanga's were about 440 per chimichanga and I admit that I had two.
As far as I can tell though I didn't gain anything from the weekend though and I worked out both days.
The wine was good but I did have too much. Got a little tipsy. Ah well, haven't done that in awhile. I won't feel guilty about it.0 -
April - maybe you can try to stand while fishing more. I know its not as fun, maybe periodically stand so you are actually doing something more than sitting. Trent is really good with alternatives - that jalapeno yogurt dip does sound mighty tasty!! We just do sour cream with some ranch dressing mix - I guess you could get lite sour cream and low sodium mix - maybe. One thing I've tried is just having vinegar sprinkled on my raw veggies. I love it! I love vinegar. I could eat plain raw veggies, sometimes I'm tempted to put salt on them - the vinegar totally helps with that. Look on the bright side though - at least you are opting for veggies instead of chips0

I didn't end up working out last night, I'm just so tired. It's TOM that's doing it - so that'll be over soon. I will be watching the Wings game tonight, so I think I'm going to do 30 minutes on the elliptical during that. I'll start in intermission so I will only be watching a bit of the game while on it. I think that's a good plan. My turbo fire should be here by next week so I'll be starting that soon. I'm pretty freakin excited about it though!0
-
So yesterday wasn't my best day - still ended up with a small calorie deficit (~175 calories) but I didn't get the workout in that I'd planned and ate too much.
Plan for today: be extra good, since tomorrow's weigh-in! I brought my snacks and lunch to work - today I have to actually eat the snacks in the afternoon so I'm less tempted to eat anything and everything when I get home. I think I'll run 3 miles when I get home, and then go to the gym to do an additional workout (some intervals on the treadmill plus strength training). I'll just do my own dinner tonight instead of eating with the family, so that I can't blame not going to the gym on the timing of my dinner.
April - sorry I forgot about the Yogurt dip info last night... I'll post it tonight! (Writing myself a note so I don't forget.)0 -
I don't think I can face tuna again today for lunch. But that's all I brought. ugggh Just do it ....0
-
Debbie, if it makes you feel any better, I have a smart ones - roast beef and mashed potatoes. It isn't good. Fortunately for me I have plenty of fruit and baby carrots...the carrots will be my choice.0

I usually make that same dip with sour cream and ranch mix but I was looking for something a little more healthy... that one always makes me feel guilty. As for fishing though, once it warms up a little more I'm the one scaring away the fish cause I love to swim but your right, I could stand and hope for a big one that puts up a fight0 -
Everyone drinking lots of water today??? Drinking lots of water will help keep down water retention (for whatever reason) when you weigh in tomorrow... and it's good for you!
I'm up to 104 ounces, and it's not quite 4 pm. Thinking I might hit 20 cups (160 oz) today.0 -
I think I did 64 oz today, will make sure I get in more tonight. Ate the tuna and did not gag. Did not see our word for tomorrow posted yet.0
-
The word is "Loser" dated 5/11/11. see u tomorrow teammates!0
-
Looking forward to seeing how our team does - so far everyone who has weighed in has done great!
According to my BodyMedia Fit, I should've lost 1.8 pounds since last Wednesday. My scale showed a 1.5 lb loss, but since it only goes to the closest 1/2 pound, I may have actually lost 1.8. I think my next gift to myself will be a new scale that goes to a tenth of a pound.
I'm quite excited about being back in the 170s - I'll be more excited to be out of them (the other direction!). I posted this blog as a pep talk to myself: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/accountant_boi/view/won-t-let-the-170s-get-me-down-1019010 -
I was looking at your blog and went back and read all the prior months, you've come a long way. Loved the pictures while you were out running, you should post some more of those. Looks like things worked out with your work's merger or did you get a new job? We're here to make sure you get through to the 160's! You may want to re-evaluate the goal of 130, your picture looks like you really don't have much more to lose.
Well, I want to slap myself - and you all will to because I really did not put much effort into last week. I knew I was up about 2.5 pounds in water on last weeks weigh in so I coasted instead of getting serious. Hate to say it but I hope somebody (from the other team of course) doesn't weigh in so we don't have to eliminate anybody. Anyway, off to plan the get serious week ahead.0 -
Well so far it looks like I'm on the hot seat for this week. So so so sad about this! Go fat fighters!! I need to stay in this and get out of the dreaded and most hated 170s once and for all!0
-
We can do this fat fighters!! So, what should we do to keep us motivated and making better choices, which I've been bad at too - I just had some water weight that I knew was easier to take care of.
What are our weaknesses and what can we as a team help each other do to help us stay on the right track and accomplish our goals?
Maybe we can check in on our water consumption? Maybe we can make a commitment to do something that will keep us on the right track - mine is to avoid fast food. We are here to help each other achieve our individual goals, not just win a competition, although that would be nice too
So, I'd like to request each of us to post what our weaknesses are and to tell us what we could use to help...maybe end each post with something positive too - the positives are much better to end with.0 -
Irishgal, actually right now our team has a higher percentage of weight loss but we only have one yet to weigh in and they have 3 to weigh in, all who could pull some hefty numbers. Keeping fingers crossed!0
-
So, is it team based, then the lowest percentage from the losing team goes? I haven't looked at those specifics yet.0

Regarding my goal weight - I definitely have a bit more to lose; I just hide it well. Seroiusly - If I win, I'll post my before pics (how I look now) and you'll see that I still have plenty of fat around my mid-section and my back that I need to lose. I'm only 5' 3.5", so 130 is a very reasonable goal for me (it's in the middle-upper end of my BMI). Right now I'm technically still "Obese" (I think I get into the overweight category in the low 170s).Well, I want to slap myself - and you all will to because I really did not put much effort into last week. I think our team is looking good! Sorry I haven't been participating as much this week, it has been a crazy week both in my work and personal life.
I definitely need to get motivated to work out, I haven't worked out in a week and I feel it.0 -
Debbie, No worries... You'll do fine next week. I've been kickin' myself too cause I was a 166 on Friday morning but Friday night and Saturday night I indulged in a little too much Whiskey and topped it off with Chips and Dip on Sunday! I got myself back down again and definately learned my lesson. I was super scared this morning stepping on the scale! Next week will be much better
Trent, I am 5 foot 2 and 3/4 so my goal is the same as you! I am considered obese too, I don't feel obese nor do I think (or have ever been told) I look obese but the numbers say I am. I have roles around my stomach and my thighs are on the larger side but I've been able to hide it pretty well. My purpose here is not to be some super hot swimsuit model, it is to be healthy and feel better about myself. I have 4 kids that depend on me.. i don't want to be that sickly mom who can't take care of her family because she has so many health issues due to being overweight. So any advice you have please keep me posted cause it sounds like we are in the same boat
Shammrock, I stuggle with finding time to exercise. Last night I had my mind set to exercise at least 20 minutes but I was interrupted 4 times during that 20 minutes! I also have a hard time with adult social time... we always seam to over indulge in our drinking. I am doing much better with that though. In fact, I poured a glass of wine last night and half of it is still sitting on my dresser this morning :bigsmile:0 -
Losing team will eliminate one person with the lowest percentage of body weight.
The person with the highest percentage of weight loss gets an advantage for the next week.
That was from the first page of the other thread so if our team total percentage is higher even though they may lose more than their team would lose. However, I think the rules also say if somebody does not weigh in they are automatically eliminated and then the losing team does not have to vote anybody off.
IF we do lose, I think we should ask to have a "by' week because we started out with one less person and 300 less pounds. :bigsmile:0 -
Sounds like a good request...
April, I also have a hard time with exercising. I find the time at night, after my kids go to bed usually, although I can do it before they go to bed. I only have a few hours at night and its usually running around, cooking, eating, cleaning, whatever...that I have a hard time fitting it in before they go to bed at 9:30...then I'm tired. I use sleep as an excuse far too often! That's why things like the shred work well for me. It gives me certain days to do certain things. So, I bought turbo fire and from what I understand (I haven't received it yet) there is a schedule to follow. I hope I'm able to keep up. On the drinking - leaving half of one glass of wine sounds sucessful. Sometimes we just need the drinks, so don't feel bad. I'd like some wine more often than I drink it but I feel like the calories are wasted - I much prefer food.0
