However you spell it. Tell me your favourite brands / varieties of hummus.

I just discovered Sonny & Joes, pretty damned yummy -- though not sure how much longer they'll be around with their legal troubles: http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/34/17/dtg_hummuswarfolo_2011_4_29_bk.html?comm=1

Trader Joe's makes a really tasty Cilantro Jalapeno Hummus.

I second Tribe. They have so many varieties and now have the Tribe Organics which is really good too. I used to eat Athenos but I don't really like their texture.

Brandwise - bulk hummous from the olive bar at Wegmans is awesome. Otherwise, I like to make my own.

Miss Out and About, is that hummus from Trader Joes- the cilantro jalepeno one- spicey? I love cilantro, but am not sure if I could handle the heat if it's got a hott pepper taste?

I recommend "Garden Fresh Gourmet" hummus made fresh in Ferndale, MI. Their salsa is excellent as well. Sold at Meijers and Kroger. Check their site gardenfreshgourmet.com for other stores.

After making my own for the past two years, I don't really like the stuff from the store as much anymore. I ate hummus for 10 years before I actually tried to make my own because I thought it would be too hard. WRONG.. it's so easy... I also don't use canned chickpeas, I use the dry ones and soak them overnight because I try to stay away from food out of a can as much as possible.

I like Cedar's too, they have some that are pretty low in fat which is awesome.

And actually, the Archer Farms (Target brand) ones are pretty good- nice and hearty.

Bobby's Hummus is the best I've ever had. Love their garlic and tex mex. Whole Foods and some little grocery stores carry it. So worth finding!

Geez! They actually package and sell this stuff?

All this time I've been making my own.

I feel like I've been rubbing two sticks together while everyone else was using a lighter! :explode:
  • homemade roasted garlic hummus.

I agree with homemade. Nothing is better than that. Its a tedious process soaking the beans and cooking them but the end result is wonderful. I never used canned beans. Preparing your own is so much better. Try this recipe.

Would those of you who have mentioned making your own hummus mind sharing some recipies?! I LOVE hummus, and would love to learn how to make my own so I could experiment with flavors. Thanks!

    Homemade of course

Although I do like Sabra brand and I've been trying Holy Land's different flavors such as guacamole hummus and jalepeno.
